David Archuleta Earns GLAAD Media Awards Nomination for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist

David Archuleta is breaking through…

GLAAD has released the nominees for the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards, with the 33-year-old half-Honduran and part-Spanish American singer and former American Idol runner-up earning a nod.

David ArchuletaArchuleta, who competed in the ninth season of The Masked Singer as “Macaw” and finished in second place, is nominated for the non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organization’s Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist award.

Archuleta is competing against another Latinx artist.

Ice Spice is also up for Breakthrough Music Artist.

In 2023, Time magazine described the 24-year-old half-Dominican American rapper as a “breakout star.” Publications such as The New York Times and Billboard have dubbed her “rap’s new princess.” The Grammy-nominated artist has been honored with the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist, and the Impact Award from the BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.

The winning LGBTQ stories and artists will be honored at GLAAD’s dual 2024 ceremonies on March 14 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and May 11 at the Hilton Midtown in New York City. The 33 categories span film, TV, music, theater, podcasts, video games, comic books and journalism.

Presented since 1990, the GLAAD Media Awards honor media for fair, accurate and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues. “At a time when the LGBTQ community is under attack by false narratives and misinformation … the stakes have never been higher to maintain the progress of LGBTQ visibility and representation across all media, from film, television, music, journalism, publishing and more,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

Ice Spice Signs with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for International Representation

Ice Spice has new global representation…

The 23-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-nominated rapper has signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME) for international representation in all areas.

Ice SpiceA representative for the rapper confirms that veteran hip-hop agent Cara Lewis and C Lewis Group continue to represent her in North America and Canada.

The news of the WME signing was originally reported by Variety.

The Bronx rapper has continued to blow up since her 2022 breakout single, “Munch (Feelin’ U).” At the top of the year, she released her debut EP, Like..?, via 10K Projects and Capitol Records. The EP received a deluxe version in July and eventually peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard 200. The project spawned numerous hits, including “Princess Diana” — which received a remix with Nicki Minaj that reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Ice’s second top 10 hit following “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” with PinkPantheress — and “Deli,” which reached No. 41 on the Hot 100 and became her highest-charting solo hit on the chart.

Ice Spice has a total of four Hot 100 top 10 hits to her name, also including the “Karma” remix with Taylor Swift (which the two performed live for the first time at the East Rutherford, N.J. stop of Swift’s Eras Tour) and “Barbie World” with Minaj and Aqua.

The drill MC recently snagged four nominations ahead of the 2024 Grammy Awards: best new artist, best pop duo/group performance for “Karma,” and best rap song and best song written for visual media for “Barbie World.”

The rapper is currently touring with Doja Cat on the Scarlet Tour, which wraps next Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Chicago’s United Center.

Billboard crowned Ice as R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Year in August.

Ice Spice is Getting Her Own Chia Pet Planter

Ice Spice is growing in popularity…

The 23-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-nominated rapper is getting her own Chia Pet, the company has announced in conjunction with Chicago lifestyle brand Living Product.

Ice SpiceThe “Princess Diana” rapper’s terra cotta figurine features her signature orange Afro, where the chia sprouts will take one to two weeks to fully sprout from, her pink hoodie, and $100,000 diamond chain with the cartoon rendering of her face.

“Like my lyrics say, ‘I’m breakin’ records and I’m breakin’ news,’” she said in a statement obtained by Complex. “I’m not sure who stole whose look, but I’m into it and am very excited about this fun partnership. Chia Pet is an iconic brand with a dope jingle — so we have that in common.”

Ice Spice Chia PetPio Mio Studios even made an old-school commercial to go along with the Munchkin-approved product.

“My manager Tara is such a beast,” JB Brode, founder and owner of Living Product, told Complex. “She connected us to help design merch for Ice Spice. Ideating around that led us to this lightbulb moment like, ‘Damn, an Ice Spice Chia Pet would be crazy.’ It started as just an idea for a graphic, but we knew that the idea deserved its own moment. We pitched it to Spice’s team, who graciously let us pursue the official collaboration with Chia, and many months and negotiations later here we are. The commercial really brought it full circle for us. Our guys at Pio Mio Studios executed our vision perfectly and it tied everything together beautifully.”

Ice Spice’s Chia Pet costs $34.99 and is available to purchase on Chia.com and Amazon, and it will be available on IceSpiceMusic.com starting Friday.

The 31-year-old half-Dominican American Grammy-winning rap superstar appears in the photo campaign for SKIMSCotton Collection, which was released on Monday, October 16.

Cardi B The “Bongos” singer, who likes “snatched” and “comfortable,” is a huge fan of the brand’s loungewear.

“I’ve always loved the SKIMS Cotton Collection,” Cardi B said in a statement. “It’s so sexy and makes me feel snatched yet comfortable while hanging out at home. The new styles and colors I wore on set are even better, and I can’t wait to wear them all the time.”

The campaign features Cardi B in fan-favorite pieces from SKIMS’ Cotton Collection with a few updates, including new branded waistbands, new cuts and new colors.

Cardi B For the campaign, a red-headed Cardi poses in a sleeveless long dress ($78), scoop bralette ($36) and boy short ($24), plunge bralette ($36), cotton rib legging ($54) and more.

The new pieces will be available in seasonal green and off-white, but they probably won’t be in stock for long. The collection drops on October 19 at 12:00 pm ET/9:00 am PT.

Ice Spice Among Honorees at Party Celebrating Variety’s 2023 New Power of New York Impact List

Ice Spice will be making a special appearance in New York City…

Variety has announced it will host its annual New York Party on Thursday, October 5, celebrating the 23-year-old half-Dominican American rapper/singer, this year’s cover star honoree,  along with the individuals profiled in Variety’s 2023 New Power of New York Impact List.

Ice SpiceThe New Power of New York Impact List recognizes 50 creatives, executives and entrepreneurs who are making waves in the New York entertainment scene. From film and television to music and theatre, these artists and visionaries personify the spirit of the ever-evolving city and show us what New York offers to the global industry.

The party will celebrate Ice Spice’s meteoric rise over the past year as one of the most exciting rappers in music.

Her recent collaboration with Nicki MinajPrincess Diana” made history, marking the first time that a track co-billed by two women topped the Hot Rap Songs chart, since it launched 34 years ago.

Her second collaboration with Minaj, “Barbie World,” hit No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and soundtracked the closing credits of Barbie, the summer’s biggest blockbuster, starring Margot Robbie.

“Variety’s annual New York issue is a love letter to the Big Apple and the creativity that it inspires – this year we are thrilled to profile Bronx-born Ice Spice on the cover of our issue,” said Variety’s Co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh. “Our story by Steven Horowitz is not to be missed, as it explores Ice Spice’s meteoric rise in music, friendship with Taylor Swift and recent collaborations with Nicki Minaj.”
