Camila Cabello Takes Home Top Prizes at the MTV Video Music Awards

Camila Cabello is Havana moment…

The 21-year-old Cuban and Mexican singer was the night’s big winner at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home the top prizes of the night… Video of the Year and Artist of the Year.

Camila Cabello

Cabello won the Video of the Year award for the official clip to her Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single, “Havana.” She’s only the second Latin artist to win the coveted Video of the Year prize, behind Christina Aguilera, who won the award in 2001 for her “Lady Marmalade” collaboration with Lil’ Kim, Mýa and P!nk (featuring Missy Elliott).

With the wins, Cabello, who’d previously earned four Moon Men as a member of Fifth Harmony, claimed her first two trophies as a solo artist.

But Cabello wasn’t the only Latin artist to win…

Cardi B, who entered the night with a leading 10 nominations, picked up three Moon Men—the first of her career.

The 25-year Dominican American rap sensation was named Best New Artist. She also picked up the award for Song of the Summer for “I Like It,” her chart-topping collaboration with J Balvin and Bad Bunny, as well as Best Collaboration for her single with Jennifer Lopez, “Dinero.”

J Balvin took home his first Moon Man as well…

Cardi B’s “I Like It” Reaches No. 1 on the Billboard’s Rhythmic Songs Airplay Chart

Cardi B is replacing herself at the top of the charts…

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American has replaced herself in the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Rhythmic Songs airplay chart as “I Like It,” with Bad Bunny and J. Balvin, replaces “Be Careful.”

Cardi B

The new leader rises 3-1 with a 19 percent increase in airplay in the week ending July 8, according to Nielsen Music.

With her achievement, Cardi B is the first act to replace herself at No. 1 since Rihanna, who completed the feat via featured roles on DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts,” (also featuring Bryson Tiller) and Kendrick Lamar’s “Loyalty.”

The former reigned for nine weeks before ceding pole position to the latter on Sept. 30, 2017.

Among artists in lead roles, the last act to pull a double domination was also Rihanna, back on Christmas Day in 2010. On the chart dated December 25, 2010, her “Only Girl (In the World)” surrendered the top rank to “What’s My Name,” featuring Drake, which rang up the first of nine weeks in charge.

As “I Like It” ascends, Cardi B claims her fifth No. 1 on the list, following her “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” (four weeks), a featured turn on G-Eazy’s “No Limit” (two weeks), “Finesse,” a collaboration with Bruno Mars (two weeks), and “Be Careful” (one week).

Bad Bunny, meanwhile, grabs his first No. 1 on Rhythmic Songs, as does J. Balvin, who previously maxed out at No. 2 with “Mi Gente,” alongside Willy William and featuring Beyoncé.

Cardi B Collaborating with DJ Snake on New Single

Cardi B is slithering her way back into the studio…

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American rap sensation is joining voices with French producer DJ Snake.

Cardi B

Cardi B, who currently sits at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her smash “I Like It,” took to DJ Snake’s Facebook page earlier this week to share her excitement and further details.

There’s no information on the song title or the kind of vibe the chameleonic music man has concocted, but we do know Puerto Rican reggaeton trap singer Ozuna is also featured, and there’s some mystery guest collaborator that’s got Cardi B all excited, but she won’t spill the beans.

DJ Snake announced his forthcoming LP in May. He’s released a few tracks since then, including “Public Enemy” with Yellow Claw and “Let’s Get Ill” alongside his fellow Frenchman Mercer. No telling if those singles make the cut.

J Balvin Earns 10th No. 1 on Billboard Latin Airplay Chart with “Ambiente”

Make that a Perfect 10 for J Balvin

The 33-year-old Colombian urban singer has earned his 10th  No. 1 on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart with “Ambiente,” the fourth single off his latest studio album, Vibras.

J Balvin

The track zooms 10-1 in its 11thweek on the chart dated July 7, and earns the week’s Greatest Gainer honors thanks to a 70 percent increase in audience (to 16.74 million in the week ending July 1), according to Nielsen Music.

The nine-position leap is the biggest jump to No. 1 since March 10, when Wisin’s “Todo Comienza En La Disco,” featuring Yandel and Daddy Yankee, rose 11 ranks (12-1).

“Ambiente,” which was released on April 13, is Balvin’s third No. 1 of the year. It follows “X” with Nicky Jam, which topped the list on the April 28-dated chart, ruling for two weeks, and “Machika” with Neon and Anitta which led for one week on March 24.

“I’m extremely grateful for so many blessings, for seeing how every day we are reinventing ourselves musically,” Balvin tells Billboard. “Thankful as we go surprising the audience with different sounds and “Ambiente” has not been the exception. I am very happy with this 10th  No. 1. Thank you for everything, onwards with the Latin culture.”

For a second week in a row, Balvin has three songs in the top 10 (“Ambiente” at No. 1, “X” with Nicky Jam steady at No. 2, and “I Like It” with Cardi B and Bad Bunny moving 7-10).

Further, for the first time in his career, Balvin holds down the top two at the same time — an achievement only seven other acts have managed in the chart’s 23-year history. Balvin is also just the fifth act to be both Nos. 1 and 2 as a lead artist, and the first since Pitbull in 2011 (Oct. 15, 2011: “Rain Over Me,” featuring Marc Anthony was No. 1, and “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo,Afrojack and Nayer was No. 2).

“Ambiente” also lands atop the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart, rising 8-1. It’s Balvin’s 10th No. 1.

Earlier this week, Balvin earned his first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 alongside Cardi B and Bad Bunny with their hit single “I Like It.”

Cardi B Makes History as Her Latest Single “I Like It” Rises to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Cardi B is making history…

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American rapper has become the first female rapper with two No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100, after her hit single “I Like It,” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on chart.

Cardi B

Cardi B first reigned with her debut single, “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves),” for three weeks beginning October 7, 2017.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny and Balvin earn their first Hot 100 No. 1 each.

Cardi B passes four female rappers who previously topped the tally with one No. 1 apiece: Lauryn Hill, with “Doo Wop (That Thing),” in 1998; Lil’ Kim, with “Lady Marmalade,” with Christina Aguilera, Mya and P!nk (2001); Shawnna, as featured on Ludacris‘ “Stand Up” (2003); and, Iggy Azalea, with “Fancy,” featuring Charli XCX (2014).

Cardi B’s bilingual track reworks the venerable “I Like It Like That,” originally performed by Pete Rodriguez in 1967 and taken to No. 25 on the Hot 100 in 1997 (titled “I Like It”) by The Blackout Allstars; the latter act included Tito Nieves, who also recorded a notable solo version. (In between, the composition appeared in the 1994 film I Like It Like That and earned a synch in a 1996 Burger King commercial.)

“I Like It” is from Cardi B’s debut album, Invasion of Privacy, which launched atop the Billboard 200 chart dated on April 4 and includes “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi B is the first artist to notch a pair of Hot 100 No. 1s from a debut album since Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, whose The Heist yielded “Thrift Shop,” featuring Wanz and “Can’t Hold Us,” featuring Ray Dalton in 2013.

Cardi B is the first soloist with a pair Hot 100 leaders from a debut LP since Bruno Mars, whose Doo-Wops & Hooligans produced “Just the Way You Are” (2010) and “Grenade” (2011).

And, Cardi B is the first female soloist with two Hot 100 No. 1s from a debut album this decade, and the first since Lady Gaga, whose The Fame generated “Just Dance,” featuring Colby O’Donis and “Poker Face,” both in 2009.

Prior to “I Like It,” Bad Bunny reached a No. 36 Hot 100 high with “Te Bote,” with Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam and Ozuna.

J Balvin notched a prior No. 3 best with “Mi Gente,” with Willy William and featuring Beyoncé, last October.

“I Like It” concurrently takes over atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where Cardi B previously led with “Bodak Yellow,” for six weeks, and “Finesse” (one). It  becomes her second No. 1 on Hot Rap Songs, after “Bodak Yellow” (eight). Bad Bunny and J Balvin lead each list for the first time.

Cardi B Releases Sizzlin’ Music Video for “I Like It,” Featuring Bad Bunny & J Balvin

Cardi B is rockin’ in the tropics…

The 25-year-old half-Dominican American rap sensation has released the official music video her Latin-influenced track “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

Cardi B

Dressed in a bright yellow ruffled skirt, beaded tank and bold head wrap, Cardi B strolls through a tropical paradise, as she dances in front of a bubblegum pink wall and meets the local residents.

“They call me Cardi Bardi, banging body/Spicy mami, hot tamale/Hotter than a Somali, fur coat, Ferrari,” Cardi raps in her signature lively flow.

In another scene, Cardi B joins Bad Bunny, and later J Balvin, who rap over the boogaloo beat during their island fiesta.

“I Like It” follows Cardi’ Bs recent stream of music videos, including “Be Careful” and her Jennifer Lopez-collaboration “Dinero,” which also features DJ Khaled.

Cardi B’s track reworks the classic “I Like It Like That,” originally performed by Pete Rodriguez in 1967 and taken to No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1997 (titled “I Like It“) by The Blackout Allstars.

J.Lo & Enrique: Mouth 2 Mouth!

Talk about a dynamic duet… For the first time, Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez are making sweet music together… The Spanish heart throb and Puerto Rican siren have teamed up to record the dance-tastic new single, “Mouth 2 Mouth.”

Here’s a taste of Enrique’s & J.Lo’s track, which features the pair trading sultry lines over slick and pumping beats.

Produced by DJ Frank E, the track will appear on the deluxe reissue of Iglesias’ hit album “Euphoria.” Released last year, the album included the hit singles “I Like It” and “Dirty Dancer.”

The repackaged album will include Iglesias’ massive hits from the original bilingual edition—which was the top-selling Latin album of 2010—as well as his duet with Lopez, a new single featuring Pitbull and one-to-two other tracks.

The enhanced album reissue, entitled “Euphoria Reloaded,” will be released on November 14.
