The 30-year-old Brazilian singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, and occasional television host has been named a co-chair for this year’s Global Citizen NOW, a two-day leadership summit planned for May 1-2 at Spring Studios in New York City.
Anitta is among a roster of co-chairs that includes Danai Gurira, Hugh Jackman, Dakota Johnson and Michelle Yeoh.
Anitta, who’ll speak at the summit, is set to join political, corporate and philanthropic leaders for the program that’s focused on driving action for a world where “everyone’s basic needs are fulfilled,” the advocacy organization has announced.
Furthermore, the 2024 edition of the Global Citizen NOW summit will zoom in on ideas for “urgent action” to achieve access for all people to food, energy, healthcare and education; advocate for the flourishing of the planet by pushing for increased climate financing and the phase out of fossil fuels; and drive toward a future where every person and country can prosper through economic development, access to finance, innovation and job creation, according to a press release.
Additional participants include Mokgweetsi Masisi, president of Botswana; Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda; Philip Davis, Prime Minister of the Bahamas; and Janja Lula da Silva, First Lady of Brazil.
“The world is standing at a crossroads and we have a choice: we can watch the impoverished go hungry, suffer through natural disasters, and die from preventable diseases, or we can take bold action to defeat poverty, defend the planet and course correct toward a more equitable future,” Hugh Evans, co-founder & CEO, Global Citizen, said in a statement. “We have the power to create monumental impact this year, but only if we have the courage to stand up and take action now.”

The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) has revealed the winners of the 27th Annual Webby Awards, with the 42-year-old half-Ecuadorian among the honorees.
Aguilera won the Webby Award for Music Video, General Video (Video) category for the new music video for her hit single “Beautiful.” “Beautiful (2022 Version)” was released to celebrate the 20-year-old anniversary of her Stripped album.
It’s Aguilera’s first-ever Webby Awards win.
Other winners include SZA as Artist of the Year, Tracee Ellis Ross with a Special Achievement Award and Sharon Horgan as Best Actress.
Barack Obama, Lizzo, Doja Cat, Blackpink, Hugh Jackman, Jimmy Kimmel, Hoda Kotb, Trixie Mattel, Serena Williams, the cast of Stranger Thingsand the cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverwere also among the award recipients.

The 43-year-old Brazilian actress will reprise her role as Vanessa for Marvel’s new Deadpool sequel, starring Ryan Reynolds.
Stefan Kapicic will also reprise his role as Colossus.
Reynolds recently announced Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams will also return as Dopinder and Blind Al, who like Vanessa and Colossus appeared in the first two films.
They join Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and the newest cast additions Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.
Shawn Levy will direct the filn, with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese returning to pen the script along with Zeb Wells. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin wrote a previous draft. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will join Reynolds and Levy as producers.
This will mark the first Deadpool film in which Marvel Studios will work hand in hand with Reynolds and Team Deadpool. Feige’s involvement comes after he helped revamp the Spider-Man franchise when he came on to help in the creative effort for that Sony series.
Cruz is among a roster of All-Star cast members that includes Adam Driver and Shailene Woodley for the big-budget biopic of racing mogul Enzo Ferrari.
Driver is replacing Hugh Jackman in the title role while Parallel Mothersstar Cruz will play Enzo’s wife Laura. Woodley will play mistress Lina Lardi.
Four-time Oscar nominee Mann is gearing up for a May start in Italy.
STX is handling international rights and has now picked up the domestic rights in a big deal with Mann. Amazon is aboard in a handful of international markets. STX International will look to close remaining deals this week with some big international pacts already secured, including Leone in Italy.
The movie, which Mann has been working on for two decades, is set during the summer of 1957. Ex-racecar driver, Ferrari, is in crisis. Bankruptcy stalks the company he and his wife, Laura, built from nothing ten years earlier. Their tempestuous marriage struggles with the mourning for one son and the acknowledgement of another. He decides to counter his losses by rolling the dice on one race – 1,000 miles across Italy, the iconic Mille Miglia.
The project has famously been through multiple iterations, but this is as far along as the casting has been at any stage.
Mann will direct from a script by Troy Kennedy and Mann based on Brock Yates’ book Enzo Ferrari – The Man and the Machine.

Cruz, nominated this week for the Best Actress Oscar in Parallel Mothers, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelonaand was nominated another two times for her roles in Volverand Nine. In addition to Parallel Mothers for Sony, she currently stars in IFC’s Official Competitionopposite Antonio Banderas.
Natalie Martinez is ready to reminisce this Labor Day weekend…
Warner Bros. has scheduled Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy’s feature directorial debut Reminiscence, featuring the 36-year-old Cuban American actress, for theaters and HBO Max on September 3, Labor Day weekend.
Starring Hugh Jackman, the sci-fi thriller had a previous release date of April 16.
The film follows Nick Bannister (Jackman), a private investigator of the mind, who navigates the darkly alluring world of the past by helping his clients access lost memories. Living on the fringes of the sunken Miami coast, his life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Rebecca Ferguson). A simple matter of lost and found becomes a dangerous obsession. As Bannister fights to find the truth about Mae’s disappearance, he uncovers a violent conspiracy, and must ultimately answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?
In addition to Jackman, Ferguson and Martinez, the film also stars Thandie Newton, Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu, Mojean Aria, Brett Cullen, Angela Sarafyan and Nico Parker.

Marina de Tavira is heading to the scene of the crime…
The 46-year-old Mexican actress, who earned an Academy Award nomination for her work in Alfonso Cuaron’s Netflix Spanish-language film Roma, will star in the Spanish-language crime drama series Kolonie.
The project is in development between Narcosproducer Gaumont and Redrum, which has worked on series including Narcos: Mexicoand Amazon’s international drug thriller Zerozerozero.
Written by Carlos Rincones, who wrote on Netflix’s Mexican drama Tijuana, the series centers around an emotionally complex seasoned special agent, Adriana, played by de Tavira, who is tasked with investigating the brutal murder of a Mennonite boy in rural Chihuaua, Mexico. Once there, she partners with a rookie local policeman who recently abandoned the Mennonite community to join the police force. As they inch closer to solving the crime, they slowly uncover the justice they pursue is mired in a dark web of corruption and mysticism that extends beyond anything they could have ever imagined.
The series will be shot in Mexico with Redrum’s Stacy Perskie executive producing and Christian Gabela serving as head creative executive.

de Tavira earned a Best Supporting ActressOscar nod for playing Sofia in Roma and is also set to star in Lisa Joy’s Reminiscence alongside Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Thandie Newton.
The 24-year-old Dominican American actor and On My Block star has been cast in the Vietnam War action thriller Ambush, starring Aaron Echkart.
Genao joins a roster of new cast additions that includes Cody Christian and Dermot Mulroney. The film will be directed by Mark Earl Burman, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael McClung.
Ambush, based on a true story, follows a group of elite commandos, led by Captain Drummond (Eckhart), tasked with collecting classified information that can change the fate of the war. On the edge of the jungle, the team is attacked by an overwhelming invisible force of the enemy army and must follow it into the complex labyrinth of Cu Chi tunnels, with the enemy and traps at every turn.
Principal photography is now set to begin in the fall in Colombia amid compliance with COVID-19 health guidelines.
Saban Films has acquired the North American rights to Ambush, with a release plan currently in the works.
Genao previously starred in Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine film Logan.
Starting Monday, Quibi will stream an all-star remake of The Princess Bride filmed by actors at home while in quarantine, including the 17-year-old Puerto Rican and Mexican American actress.
In addition to Ortega, the re-creation will feature an A-list cast that includes couples Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner,Common and Tiffany Haddish, Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka and Chris Pine and Annabelle Wallis, along with Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Elijah Wood, Jon Hamm, Beanie Feldstein, Lucas Hedges, Jack Black, David Oyelowo, Keegan-Michael Key, Patton Oswalt, Josh Gad, Andy Serkis, Diego Luna, Taika Waititi and Zazie Beetz and more.
Directed by Jason Reitman, the project will see Common playing the heroic Westley (originated by Cary Elwes), Haddish as Princess Buttercup (first played by Robin Wright), and Jackman as the villainous Humperdinck, to name a few.
The Princess Bride’s director, Rob Reiner, will also appear in the remake, along with Fred Savage, who reprises his role as the grandson in the film.
Beginning June 29, Quibi will release chapters of the made-at-home movie daily for two weeks.
The remake also is aiding a good cause. As part of the project, Quibi has donated $1 million to chef José Andrés’ charity World Central Kitchen, which provides meals to those who have been most affected by the coronaviruspandemic.

Dwayne Johnson will host the event, which will take place on Saturday, June 27.
