Trailer Released for Selena Gomez’s “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania”

Selena Gomez is transform(ania)ing

The first trailer has been released for the 28-year-old Mexican American actress/singer’s Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, the fourth and final film in the franchise that has bitten off $1.36 billion worldwide — thus far — with each of the three films grossing more than its predecessor.

Selena Gomez

Since the original film hit theaters in 2012, the Fang gang has expanded their lodging to include humans and welcomed a baby (2015’s Hotel Transylvania 2) and took a decidedly unrelaxing sea cruise (2018’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation).

Fast-forward to 2021, and Van Helsing (Jim Gaffigan) has perfected his mysterious invention that allows humans to become monsters. But the Monsterfication Ray goes haywire, and Drac (Brian Hull, replacing Adam Sandler) and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny (Andy Samberg) becomes a monster. In their new mismatched bodies, Drac — now stripped of his powers, sporting a “dad bod” and making dad jokes — and his exuberant son-in-law Johnny, who’s loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late. With help from Mavis (Gomez) and the human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.

Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Asher Blinkoff, Brad Abrell, Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon also lend their voices to the film from first-time feature helmers Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon. Amos Vernon and Nunzio Randazzo and Genndy Tartakovsky penned the screenplay.

“In Hotel Transylvania: Transformania we wrap up the franchise with a bang as we see our familiar, beloved cast of monster characters in a hilarious new light when they accidentally transform themselves into humans,” helmers Kluska and Drymon said. “The bond between the mismatched comic pair of human Drac and monster Johnny is put to the test on a ridiculous road trip to South America while Mavis leads the humanized Drac Pack on an adventure to find the cure. At their heart, the Hotel Transylvania movies are about family – monster style. We think the final chapter will bring the story full circle in a thrilling fun theater experience for the whole family.”

After a few pandemic-forced release-date moves, the toon from Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation hits theaters Friday, October 1

Netflix Gives Gomez’s “13 Reasons Why” a Straight-to-Series Order

Selena Gomez is going behind the scenes for her next project…

Netflix has given Anonymous Content and Paramount Television’s 13 Reasons Why, executive produced by the 23-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer, a straight-to-series order.

Selena Gomez

The show, based on the New York Times bestselling Young Adult (YA) book by Jay Asher, was created by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Brian Yorkey, who also wrote the pilot.

13 Reasons Why is the second Netflix straight to order series for Anonymous Content. The first is the Plan B collaboration The OA, which goes into production next quarter.

Gomez recently wrapped four films: In Dubious Battle, directed by James FrancoThe Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, alongside Paul RuddThe Big Short, starring Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale; and Seth Rogen’s Neighbors 2.

Most recently, she reprised her role as Mavis in Sony PicturesHotel Transylvania 2, which opened to record-breaking box office.

She is not starring in 13 Reasons Why.

As a recording artist, Gomez has sold more than 22 million singles worldwide, and her new album Revival debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. She will embark on a global tour next year.

Gomez’s “Hotel Transylvania 2” Sets New September Box Office Record with $47.5 Million

Selena Gomez has nearly 48 million reasons to celebrate…

Hotel Transylvania 2, which features the 23-year-old as part of the returning voice cast, easily topped the weekend box office, earning an impressive $47.5 million.

Selena Gomez Hotel Transylvania 2

Hotel Transylvania 2 takes place seven years after the first film, with the hotel now open to human guests. Mavis (Gomez) and Johnny have a young son named Dennis, whose lack of any vampire abilities worries his grandfather Dracula. When Mavis and Johnny go on a visit to Johnny’s parents, Dracula calls his friends to help him make Dennis a vampire. However, an unexpected visit from Dracula’s old-school human-hating father, Vlad soon turns things upside-down.

Hotel Transylvania 2 also sets a new September record, beating the original “Hotel Transylvania” film’s $42.5 million launch in 2012.

It’s also Gomez’s best opening at the box office, beating out the $45,012,998 earned by Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who! in its opening weekend back in March 2008.

The $80 million production got off to a brisk start overseas, outpacing the first film’s results in parts of Latin America.

“It’s on its way to being one of the most beloved franchises of all time,” said Rory Bruer, Sony Pictures president of worldwide distribution.

“There are a lot of stories left to tell,” he added, saying he hoped there would be a third installment. “Adam Sandler and the filmmakers have created an unforgettable animated world that plays to audiences everywhere.”

First Trailer Released for Gomez’s “Hotel Transylvania 2”

Selena Gomez is sinking her teeth into motherhood…

Sony Pictures Animation has released the first trailer for the 22-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer’s Hotel Transylvania 2, the ghoulish sequel to the 2012 animated film.

Selena Gomez

Much has changed since the first film. Hotel Transylvania now allows human guests as well as beasties, and there’s a new little monster toddling around — but is he really a vampire?

Drac (Adam Sandler) is the proud new grandpa of the surprisingly redheaded boy of Mavis and Johnny (Gomez, Andy Samberg). When they threaten to move from Transylvania to California, the fang gang goes to work on stopping such nonsense.

Mel Brooks joins the cast as Vlad, Drac’s old-school father who is none too pleased about the goings-on. Also back for another killing are voice stars including Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Kevin James, Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon.

Hotel Transylvania 2 opens in theaters on September 25.

Gomez to Star in the Indie Film “The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving”

Selena Gomez has set her sights on her next film role…

The 22-year-old half-Mexican American actress and singer has landed the female lead opposite Paul Rudd in The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, directed by Emmy winner Rob Burnett.

Selena Gomez

Rudd will star in the indie drama as Ben, a caregiver looking after a frustrated teenager named Trevor who is in the advanced stages of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Gomez will portray Dot, a sassy young woman who hitches a ride with the pair during a road trip, and whose forwardness and lack of embarrassment about Trevor’s condition causes him to develop a crush on her.

Burnett, the veteran exec producer of The Late Show with David Letterman, adapted the script from Jonathan Evison’s 2013 novel of the same name.

Soon-to-be co-stars Gomez and Rudd were snapped Sunday night after the Golden Globes with writer/actor Justin Theroux, when a photo of the trio posted to Gomez’s Instagram garnered 1.1 million likes.

Filming on The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving begins January 22 in Atlanta.

It’s the latest indie film for Gomez, whose big screen credits include Sony’s 2012 animation hit Hotel Transylvania. A role in Harmony Korine’s racy Spring Breakers added street cred to her resume, and she was most recently seen in William H. Macy’s directorial debut Rudderless, which premiered last year at the Sundance Film Festival.

Gomez next reprises her voice role in Sony’s animated sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 opposite Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg. Offscreen, the global star who has over 107 million social media followers recently signed with Interscope Records after a long run with Disney’s Hollywood Records.
