Saldaña to Announce Golden Globe Nominations This Week

It’ll be an early start for Zoë Saldaña

The 35-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American actress will announce the nominations for the 71st annual Golden Globes on Thursday morning, December 12, 2013 at approximately 5:38 am PST/8:38 am (EST).

Taking place at Los Angeles’ Beverly Hilton, the announcement will air live on NBC’s The Today Show.

Zoë Saldaña will be joined by Aziz Ansari, Olivia Wilde and Miss Golden Globe Sosie Bacon, as well as Hollywood Foreign Press Association president Theo Kingma.

In all, nominations will be announced in 25 categories in television and film.

The Golden Globes, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for the second year in a row, will air on Sunday, January 13, 2014, live coast-to-coast on NBC with the pre-show from 4:00-5:00 pm (PST)/7:00-8:00 pm (EST), and main telecast from 5:00-8:00 pm (PST)/8:00-11:00 pm (EST) from the Beverly Hilton.

The awards show will be seen in more than 160 countries and is produced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Lopez to Serve as a Presenter at Sunday’s Golden Globes

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican actress/singer will be one of the presenters at this year’s awards show.

Lopez was one of the first celebrities announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as a presenter for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, along with la Lopez’s Parker co-star Jason Statham, George Clooney, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Garner, Debra Messing, Jeremy Renner, Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington and Kristen Wiig.

Each of the scheduled presenters is either a past Globe winner or nominee.

More names will be announced in the lead-up to the telecast, which will be broadcast live on NBC this Sunday, January 13 at 8:00pm ET from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler serving as this year’s hosts.

This year’s Latino nominees include three-time nominee Sofia Vergara.

Vergara Receives Her Third Straight Golden Globe Nomination

The third time could turn out to be the charm for Sofia Vergara

During a special announcement ceremony this morning co-hosted by Jessica Alba, the 40-year-old Colombian actress received yet another Golden Globe nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

It’s Vergara’s third consecutive Golden Globe nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family. She lost in 2011 to Glee’s Jane Lynch and to American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange in 2012.

Vergara – who picked up two SAG Award nominations earlier this week – will be competing against Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere, The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi, Game Change’s Sarah Paulson and Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. has earned the first Golden Globe nomination of his career, for his critically acclaimed role on FX’s Louie.

The 45-year-old half-Mexican actor is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series — Comedy Or Musical category. He’ll face off against 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin, House of LiesDon Cheadle, EpisodesMatt LeBlanc and The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons.

NBC will televise the 70th annual Globes awards show on January 13, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey co-hosting the event.

Alba to Announce Golden Globe Nominees…

The 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress will announce the nominations for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards tomorrow (Thursday, December 13, 2012).

Alba will join Megan Fox, Ed Helms and Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly to reveal the names of the award hopefuls in 25 motion picture and television categories.

The announcement will begin at approx. 5:00 am PST/8:00 am EST from the Beverly Hilton.

Bérénice Bejo: “Golden” Girl

It’s a “golden” day for Bérénice Bejo, if not a golden year…

The 35-year-old Argentine actress has received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

It’s the latest in a string of award nominations, including a SAG Award nom from the Screen Actors Guild, for Bejo’s scene-stealing work in the critically acclaimed black-and-white, silent film The Artist.

Bejo portrays Peppy Miller, a young dancer on her way to stardom, in the film, which received six Golden Globe nominations—the most for any of this year’s nominated pictures.

Meanwhile, legendary Spanish director Pedro Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In, starring Antonio Banderas, received a nod for Best Foreign Language Film.

In the television category, Sofia Vergara received a Golden Globe nomination in the Best Supporting Actress in TV Series, Mini-Series, or Made-for-TV Movie
 category.

It’s the 39-year-old Colombian actress’ second straight Golden Globe nomination for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family. And her second nomination this week after receiving a SAG Award nomination on Wednesday.

The 69th Golden Globe Awards will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2012.
