Bad Bunny Wins ASCAP Songwriter of the Year at ASCAP Latin Music Awards

It’s a special first for Bad Bunny

ASCAP (The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) has revealed the winners of the most performed songs of the past year in Latin music, with the 26-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper taking the top honor for the first time in his career.

Bad Bunny, who’d previously won the ASCAP Song of the Year award for his Cardi BJ Balvin collaboration “I Like It.,” was named the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year at the ASCAP Latin Music Awards. He won the prestigious award on the strength of seven of his recognized singles, including “Callaita,” “La Cancion,” “Que Pretendes,” and “Solo de Mi.”

Romeo Santos picked up the Songwriter/Artist of the Year award. The 38-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer earned the honor for penning the recognized singles “Aullando,” “Canalla,” and “Inmortal.”

The Song of the Year award went to Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma,” featuring Snow.

The 43-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton rapper/singer’s uptempo reggaeton and dancehall song, a reimagination of Snow’s chart-topping single “Informer,” was YouTube’s most viewed music video of 2019.


Other recognized artists include Gerado Ortiz (“Aerolinea Carrillo”), Becky G (“Bubalu”), FarrukoPedro Capo (“Calma (Remix)”), Marc Anthony (“Parecen Viernes”),Jhay Cortez (“Reggaeton,” “Hola” ) and Carlos Vives(“Si Me Das Tu Amor”).

Universal Music Publishing Group was bestowed the Publisher of the Year award and the Independent Publisher of the Year award went to Kobalt Songs Music Publishing.  

Due to the coronavirus, this year’s winners were announced via ASCAP’s social media platforms: @ASCAPLatino and @ASCAP. The innovative virtual format allowed fans, friends and peers to join in the online celebration.

The virtual event, hosted by Greeicy Rendón and Mike Bahía, also included special performances and appearances by: Marc Anthony, Descemer Bueno, Pedro Capó,Desmond Child, Jhay Cortez, Darrell, Natalia Lafourcade, Lunay, Silverio Lozada andSebastián Yatra, among other music creators.

Lenny Tavárez Releases New Music & Special Coronavirus-Inspired Playlist

The global pandemic isn’t slowing down Lenny Tavárez

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican singer has dropped two new singles, “La Pared 360” and “ACEROLA,” as well as released a special playlist to help you get your mind of COVID-19.

“Health comes first of all, so I hope that everyone is taking the necessary measures and that no one is suffering from serious conditions due to the coronavirus,” Tavárez tells Billboard.“Here is a list of the songs that I have listened to the most and that have helped me disconnect from these current times.”

Tavárez’s playlist, titled “#Crack Music,” includes sensual Latin R&B hits fromDalexand Sechto some of his popular features, like “Bellaquita” and “Hola.”

#Crac kis the name of Tavarez’s upcoming album and makes reference to the popular Spanish saying “sos un crack,” which means “you are awesome.”

Dalex Releases “Hola” Remix Featuring Lenny Tavárez, Chencho Corleone & Juhn

Dalexis saying hello again…

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican rrban singer  has relaunched his latest single “Hola,” this time with an assist from Lenny TavárezChencho Corleone and Juhn.

The original track belongs to Dalex’s debut album Climaxxx, released back in May. The lyrics tell the story of a boy who is reunited with a girl, and tries to seduce her as she did in the past.

While Dalex sings solo on the original, he’s joined by Tavárez, Corleone and Juhn for the upbeat remix. So far, the lyric video has gained more than 4 million views on YouTube.

Dalex, whose real name is Pedro David Daleccio Torres, was born in Philadelphia and raised in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. He kicked off his music career in 2013 as part of the duo Jayma & Dalex, and in 2016 announced his move to go solo, under the wings of record label Rich Music.

Rubio Releases New Single “Si Te Vas” in Pop & Reggaeton Versions

Paulina Rubio isn’t going anywhere…

The 44-year-old Mexican singer has released her brand new single, “Si Te Vas.” As part of the global launch Rubio debuted the track in two versions – pop and a reggaeton version backed up by Puerto Rican duo Alexis & Fido.

In the videos for both versions, which premiered on Rubio’s Vevo channel, La Chica Dorada plays an artist who dedicates the song to the portrait of a man she painted.

Rubio, who is pregnant, presented her new single for the first time at the Latin American Music Awards ceremony in Los Angeles last October.

Several weeks ago Rubio kicked off a campaign on social networks to promote the launch of “Si Te Vas,” in which she shared clips of the track and video along with other images.

Rubio’s new track follows the single she recorded with the Colombian band Morat and launched in February 2015, “Mi Nuevo Vicio,” which went double platinum in Spain and got 30 million plays on Spotify in Mexico.

Last December, Rubio confirmed her second pregnancy to ¡Hola! magazine.

The singer, 44, had her son Andrea Nicolas with Spaniard Nicolas Vallejo, from whom she split in 2012, and currently shares her life with Gerardo Bazua, her boyfriend since 2013, when he, also a singer, was a contestant on La Voz Mexico and she was his mentor.

Navedo Signs with Agency for the Performing Arts (APA)

Andrea Navedo has new representation…

The 38-year-old Puerto Rican actress has signed with the Agency for the Performing Arts (APA).

Navedo portrays Gina Rodriguez’s mom Xiomara on the beloved CW series.

She earned her this year’s Imagen Award for best supporting actress as well as HOLA’s Elizabeth Pena Breakthrough Artist Award for her breakthrough role.

She previously recurred as a detective for three seasons of Law & Order and appeared in half of How to Make It in America’s series run on HBO.

Her film credits include Remember Me, Once Upon a Time in Queens and the Fast and Furious parody Superfast! (as the Michelle Rodriguez analogue).

Navedo continues to be represented by LEG Management and Morris Yorn.
