Rosie Perez Joins Voice Cast of Netflix’s Animated Workplace Series “Human Resources”

Rosie Perez is getting animated…

The 57-year-old Puerto Rican actress and activist has been added to the voice cast of Netflix‘s new animated workplace series Human Resources  ahead of its March 18 premiere.

Rosie PerezIn addition to Perez, who most recently starred in The Flight Attendant, the new voice cast additions include Jemaine Clement, Thandiwe Newton, Bobby Cannavale, Henry Winkler, and Maria Bamford.

Perez portrays Petra the Ambition Gremlin, Clement portrays Simon Sex, Newton plays Mona the Hormone Monstress, Cannavale plays Gavin the Hormone Monster, Winkler plays Keith from Grief, and Bamford plays Tito the Anxiety Mosquito.

The Big Mouth spinoff pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures – Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards, and many more – that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to childbirth to the twilight years. It quickly becomes clear that though the creatures are the protagonists, they have a lot of humanity themselves.

Previously announced cast includes Nick Kroll, Maya Rudolph, Randall Park, Aidy Bryant, David Thewlis, Keke Palmer, Pamela Adlon, and Brandon Kyle Goodman.

The series is co-created and executive produced by Kelly Galuska, Nick Kroll, Andrew Goldberg, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin. Human Resources is produced by Brutus Pink and Titmouse, Inc.

 

Wilson Cruz to Take Part in Classic “Superman” Radio Series Reenactments During Next Week’s ‘DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse’ Virtual Event

Wilson Cruz is preparing for a super project…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican actor will take part in Warner Bros. and The Creative Coalition’s reenactments of the 1940s Superman radio series to take place during DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse on September 12. The acclaimed original long-running radio serial originally aired from 1940 to 1951.

The reenactments of the Superman radio series will be available all day during the virtual confab and feature an all-star roster of actors toplined by Cruz, who stars on Star Trek: Discovery, Tim Daly and Daniel Dae Kim as the Man of Steel himself.

Using original scripts from the long-running radio serial recently unearthed from the Warner Bros. Studios vault, this rare production will allow fans to experience one of their favorite superheros in a unique way.

In addition to Cruz, Daly and Kim, the radio series will feature Jason Alexander, Troian Bellisario, Erich Bergen, Anthony Carrigan, Terry Crews, Sam Daly, Lea DeLaria, Giancarlo Esposito, Sean Giambrone, The Good Doctor’s Nicholas Gonzalez, Jason Isaacs, Richard Kind, Eric McCormack, Dean Norris, CCH Pounder, Anthony Rapp, Yolonda Ross, Caterina Scorsone, Tony Shalhoub, Tamara Tunie, Henry Winkler, Alfre Woodard and Constance Zimmer.

Rita Moreno to Receive NATPE’s Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Award

The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) will honor the 86-year-old Puerto Rican actress, dancer and singer with its Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards in 2019.

The 16th annual Tartikoffs, as their called,will be doled out at NATPE’s conference in Miami in January. They are named for the late NBC Entertainment chief who assembled the network’s top-rated programming lineups in the 1980s.

Moreno, whose career has spanned more than 70 years, is an “EGOT” winner (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony), as well as a Kennedy Center honoree who currently stars in Netflix’s One Day at a Time.

She’s also one of 23 people who have achieved what is called the Triple Crown of Acting, with individual competitive Oscar, Emmy and Tony awards for acting. She has won numerous other awards, including various lifetime achievement awards and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America’s highest civilian honor.

In addition to Moreno, other honorees include Betty White, Henry Winkler, Byron Allen, Bob Greenblatt and Mara Brock Akil.

Conference organizers said the award recipients are recognized “for exhibiting their extraordinary passion, leadership, independence and vision through their diverse work in being a part of the creation and distribution of content for the world’s traditional and digital marketplaces.”

Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You” Becoming an Animated Film

Mariah Carey’s iconic holiday song is getting animated…

The 47-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer/actress’ iconic Christmas song, “All I Want for Christmas is You” is becoming an animated movie.

Carey took to Twitter to reveal the big news.

“Every holiday season, there are traditions we can’t live without,” a Christmasy trailer — backed by Carey’s holiday classic — said. “The tree, the stockings, the presents and Mariah Carey.”

The movie will be directed by Guy Vasilovich from a script by Temple Mathews. The plot will expand on that of Carey’s 2015 children’s book of the same name, which sees a young Mariah coming across a puppy named Princess and deciding that’s all she wants for Christmas. In order to get Princess, though, Mariah must prove she can pet-sit Jack, a rather unruly dog who turns Mariah and her family’s holiday preparations upside down.

Carey will narrate the film, but there will also be a cast of characters will feature voices from Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Phil Morris, Laya Hayes, Keiko Agena and 14-year-old actress Breanna Yde as young Mariah. Carey, along with manager Stella Bulochnikov, will serve as executive producers (for Magic Carpet Productions), partnering with producer Mike Young and Splash Entertainment. All I Want For Christmas Is You will be released by Universal 1440 Entertainment.

No release date is set for the film just yet, as the trailer simply said “Coming Holiday 2017.”

Nunez to Appear in ABC’s Comedy Pilot “The Winklers”

It’s Paco time for Joseph A. Nunez…

The Latino actor/comedian has been in cast in ABC’s comedy pilot The Winklers.

From Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal; Henry Winkler’s son, director Max Winkler; and son-in-law, actor Rob Reinis, The Winklers centers on Jack (portrayed by Domenick Lombardozzi), an emotionally reserved construction worker who learns about love, life and hugs while unexpectedly living with his in-laws — successful actor Henry (portrayed by Henry Winkler) and Tita Winkler (Judith Light), the fabulous, fierce momma bear of the family.

The comedy pilot is based on Henry Winkler’s relationship with his son-in-law, Reinis.

Nunez will portray Paco, a construction worker on Jack’s crew whose secret passion is dance.

Nunez is best known for his recurring role as Manche Sanchez on the show Prison Break.

His film credits include The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Pursuit of Happyness and Bridesmaids.
