Alanna Ubach to Appear on Season 2 of HBO Max’s “The Flight Attendant”

Alanna Ubach is taking Flight…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Mexican American actress will appear on Season 2 of HBO Max’s critically acclaimed series The Flight Attendant as a recurring guest star.

Ubach will appear in the new season—which is currently in production—alongside returning series regulars Kaley Cuoco, Zosia Mamet, Griffin Matthews, Deniz Akdeniz and Rosie Perez; new series regulars Mo McRae, Callie Hernandez and JJ Soria; returning recurring guest stars T.R. Knight, Yasha Jackson and Audrey Grace Marshall; and new recurring guest stars Cheryl Hines, Jessie Ennis, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, Santiago Cabrera and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

The Max Original, based on Chris Bohjalian’s 2018 novel of the same name, centers on Cassie Bowden (Cuoco), a reckless flight attendant with an alcohol problem who in Season 1, wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man—and no idea what happened.

Season 2 finds Cassie living her best sober life in Los Angeles while moonlighting as a CIA asset in her spare time. But when an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international brouhaha.

Ubach will play Carol Atkinson, also known as Black Market Carol, a perfectly groomed, icy flight attendant who is not a fan of Cassie.

Ubach is best known for her work in the Legally Blonde films, along with her turn as Mamá Imelda in Disney/Pixar’s Coco, and as Jo Hernandez-Frumpkis in the Bravo series Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.

She recurs opposite Kate Beckinsale on the Paramount+ series Guilty Party, and will return for the sophomore seasons of Disney+’s Monsters at Work, HBO’s Euphoria, and Hulu’s Crossing Swords.

The actress has also appeared in Netflix’s Maya and the Three, Fox’s Filthy Rich, FX’s Snowfall, AMC’s Dietland, Amazon’s Hand of God, Showtime’s Californication and HBO’s Hung, among others.

Additional film credits include Bombshell, Gloria Bell, To the Bone, Bad Teacher, Rango, Waiting… and its sequel Still Waiting… and Clockwatchers.

Maximiliano Hernandez to Star in Fox’s Sci-Fi Mystery Pilot “The Last Police”

Maximiliano Hernandez is joining the force…

The 48-year-old Honduran American actor will star in the Fox pilot The Last Police, an adaptation of Ben Winters’ sci-fi mystery novel The Last Policeman.

Hernandez will serve as a series regular alongside Dawnn Lewis, Derek Phillips, Courtney Dietz and Troy Kotsur, as well as series leads Blu Hunt and Reno Wilson.

In The Last Police, as an asteroid races toward an apocalyptic collision with Earth, a small-town police detective (Hunt) believes she’s been chosen to save humanity, while her cynical partner (Wilson) can’t decide what he’ll enjoy more: her delusional failure, or the end of the world itself.

Hunt plays Detective MacKenzie Ward. She’s a sharp young police detective who as our story begins has decided to end her life on her own terms rather than wait for the Earth’s annihilation in its impending collision with an asteroid. When her suicide attempt fails, she attributes her survival to being chosen for a special purpose, and going forward she’s a relentless ambassador for optimism and hope in a world with an ever-shorter supply of both.

Wilson portrays Detective David Duran. He’s a drinking, smoking, unshaven wreck with a badge who, following a devastating personal tragedy unrelated to the asteroid, views the rest of his days alive as a penance and openly embraces the prospect of the world’s end. When they’re partnered in the pilot, he’s amused by what he considers Mackenzie’s delusions of grandeur, and her positivity only stokes his cynical fatalism.

Hernandez will portray Detective Alvaro Diaz. A former minor-league ballplayer from Cuba who segued to law enforcement when he first became a father, Diaz was a contented family man before news of the asteroid hit. Since that revelation he’s become a mess, openly weeping at his desk and distracted by savoring every moment he has left with the wife and children he loves more than anything.

Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox Television will produce.

Hernandez’s television credits include TNT’s The Last Ship, FX’s The Americans, Audience Network’s Mr. Mercedes and Amazon’s Hand of God and features such as Sicario, Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

He will soon be seen recurring in CBS’ SEAL Team.

Andre Royo to Appear on Gloria Caldéron Kellett’s Rom-Com Series “With Love”

Andre Royo has some new love…

The Afro-Cuban actor has joined the cast of With Love, Amazon’s one-hour romantic comedy series from Gloria Caldéron Kellett, GloNation Studios and Amazon Studios.

The series stars Emeraude Toubia and Mark Indelicato.

Created and written by Kellett, With Love follows the Diaz siblings, Lily (Toubia) and Jorge (Indelicato), who are on a mission to find love and purpose. The Diaz siblings cross paths with seemingly unrelated residents during some of the most heightened days of the year — the holidays.

Royo joins the series in a recurring role and will appear as Santiago’s (Rome Flynn) father, Laz Zayas. He is a proud Afro-Cuban man. He runs a furniture building company with his son and is a master woodworker. He is hardworking, devoted to his family, but has been hiding a secret.

The With Love cast also features Isis King, Todd Grinnell, Desmond Chiam, Constance Marie, Benito Martinez and Vincent Rodriguez III.

All episodes will be written and executive produced by Kellett. The pilot episode will be directed and executive produced by Meera Menon. With Love is produced by Kellett’s production company, GloNation and Amazon Studios.

Royo can be seen in Season 2 of Apple’s Truth Be Told opposite Octavia Spencer. He can also be seen acting alongside Peter Skarsgard in CBS All Access’ Interrogation. Additional credits include Fox’s Empire, Amazon’s Hand of God, Hunter Gatherer, Beautiful Boy, Happyish, In Security and Fringe.

Diego Maradona’s Likeness Could Grace Argentina’s 1,000-Peso Note

Diego Maradona could be making money moves…

An Argentine senator wants to put Diego Maradona on the country’s bank notes and presented a project to Congress on Monday to get the late soccer star and possibly even his “Hand of God” image on a 1,000-peso note.

The note, worth around $12.27 at Monday’s exchange rate, would feature Maradona’s face on one side and a picture of one of his most famous goals on the other, said the bill’s sponsor Senator Norma Durango.

Maradona, who died on Nov. 25, had two of his most famous goals come in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinal against England as they went on to win world football’s biggest prize.

He got the first by punching the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton and the second by dribbling past half the England team to score what is still considered one of the greatest goals of all time.

“The idea is not just to recognize our most important idol but also to think of the economic question,” said Durango. “We feel that when tourists come here they will want to take a ‘Maradona’ away with them.”

Although it was not clear which one of the two goals would feature, some Argentines bristled at the thought of the “Hand of God” goal featuring on an official government document because it could be seen as condoning illegality.

The Senator for the La Pampa province said the final decision would be made by lawmakers, who are expected to hear her proposal early next year.

“The idea is to recognize Maradona, for good and for bad, who is the best known Argentine in the world,” Durango said. “I feel the project has got a great response even though some people don’t agree with it.”

The current 1,000-peso note features the national bird, the Rufous hornero.

Acosta Lands Recurring Role on CBS’ Drama Series “Madam Secretary”

Julian Acosta is heading to The District…

The Puerto Rican actor has signed on for a recurring role on CBS’ political drama series Madam Secretary.

Acosta will play Craig Sterling, President Dalton’s (Keith Carradine) confidant and ambitious new National Security Advisor, who threatens to undermine Secretary Elizabeth McCord’s (Tea Leoni) professional relationship with the President and her work in the State Department.

Acosta has recurred on Hand of God, Being Mary Jane, Secret Life of The American Teenager, Lauren and Hollywood Heights among others.

Segura to Star Opposite Mandy Moore in “47 Meters Down”

Santiago Segura is headed south of the border…

The Colombian American actor has landed a supporting role in 47 Meters Down.

The drama, starring Mandy Moore and Claire Holt, centers on two sisters vacationing in Mexico. When the cable supporting their shark cage breaks, the pair find themselves trapped on the ocean floor, surrounded by a school of sharks.

Segura will play Benjamin, one of the young locals who takes the girls out to sea.

47 Meters Down is directed by Johannes Roberts.

Segura’s credits include television appearances on Silicon Valley, Faking It and the TV movie Delirium.

He’ll next be seen in the upcoming television series Hand of God.

Canto Starring in Amazon’s Dramatic Thriller Pilot “Hysteria”

It’s a time of hysteria for Adan Canto.

The 32-year-old Mexican actor is starring in Amazon’s hour-long dramatic thriller pilot Hysteria, from Amazon Studios, Universal Television and Alcon Television Group.

Amazon has added the program to its third pilot season.

From Shaun Cassidy, the series also stars Mena Suvari, James McDaniel, Josh Stewart, Laura San Giacomo and T.R. Knight.

Hysteria takes viewers to Austin, Texas, where members of a girls’ competitive dance team are stricken with a strange, psycho-physiological illness that manifests in violent fits and spasms. Neurologist Logan Harlen (Suvari) is called back to her hometown to investigate the cause. Fighting her own demons (and the growing manipulation of a brother on death row), Logan develops an uneasy suspicion that the hysteria surrounding the girls might actually be linked to social media and her own tragic past.

The show is written by Cassidy.

Amazon customers will once again be invited to watch and provide feedback on the pilots they want to see turned into full series, which will then become available on Prime Instant Video.

Hysteria joins The Cosmopolitans, Really and Hand Of God for Amazon’s third pilot season, which will all debut later this year on Amazon Instant Video.

Hernandez to Star Opposite Benicio del Toro in Border Drama “Sicario”

Maximiliano Hernandez is making a run for the border.

The 41-year-old Latino actor has been cast in director Denis Villeneuve’s border film Sicario.

Starring Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt and Josh Brolin, the drama centers on a female FBI agent assigned to work with two Delta Force operators to take down a Mexican cartel boss.

Hernandez, who has starred as Jasper Sitwell in the blockbuster films Thor, Avengers, and Captain America: Winter Soldier on television in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., will play Silvio, a hard-drinking drug smuggling cop in Mexico.

He currently stars on the new TNT drama series The Last Ship and recently appeared in Amazon’s pilot Hand of God, directed by Marc Forster.
