Colman Domingo to Star in Gus Van Sant’s Hostage Thriller “Dead Man’s Wire”

The 55-year-old Emmy-winning Belizean-Guatemalan American actor and activist has joined the cast of Gus Van Sant’s hostage thriller Dead Man’s Wire after completing his scenes for Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.

Colman DomingoAfter jetting from London on Monday to Los Angeles, Domingo will head to Kentucky next weekend to join Nosferatu’Bill Skarsgard in Dead Man’s Wire in Louisville.

Austin Kolodney’s original screenplay for Dead Man’s Wire is based on the story of Tony Kirtsis, who one frigid day in February 1977 took Indianapolis mortgage broker Dick Hall hostage in his office. He attached a steel wire, that was hooked to the barrel of a sawed-off, double barrel shotgun, around his captive’s neck.

“This guy was just in dire straits, holding people hostage and speaking to a radio announcer,” says Domingo, who’ll play the broadcaster in question. “That’s the only person he felt like he could communicate with. He’d listened to him every day and I sort of guide him not to kill people.”

Domingo has received various accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award and nominations for an Academy Award and two Tony AwardsTime magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2024.

Lauren Sanchez Starring in the Vito Schnabel-Led Dark Comedy “The Trainer”

It’s training day for Lauren Sanchez.

The 52-year-old Mexican-American media personality, Emmy-winning journalist and actress, is starring in Vito Schnabel-led dark comedy The Trainer, which has wrapped filming in Los Angeles, New York and the Bahamas.

Lauren SánchezSanchez, who gained fame as an entertainment reporter and news anchor, is part of a cast that includes Paris Hilton, Finneas O’ConnellSandra Seacat and journalist Gayle King.

Written by Schnabel and Jeff Solomon, the film is based on the former’s original story. It unfolds over eight days of sleep-deprived chaos and follows Jack (Schnabel), a down-on-his-luck fitness expert living with his mother in Los Angeles, who takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune, trying to realize his version of the American dream.

IFC Renews Armisen’s “Portlandia” for Two More Seasons

Fred Armisen will spend two more years in the Pacific Northwest…

IFC has picked up the 48-year-old half-Venezuelan actor’s short-based comedy series Portlandia.

The an absurdist series that gently pokes fun at the laid-back city of Portland, Oregon, has been picked up for Seasons 6 and 7, with IFC ordering 10 half-hour episodes for each.

Armisen, a Saturday Night Live alum, and Carrie Brownstein, the show’s creators and stars, will remain at the helm for both seasons. Portlandia is executive produced by Lorne Michaels and produced by Broadway Video.

Season 5 of Portlandia airs Thursdays at 10 PM.

Vanessa Bayer, Ed Begley Jr., Steve Buscemi, Jeff Goldblum, Kyle MacLachlan, Kumail Nanjiani, Jason Sudeikis, Gus Van Sant and Olivia Wilde are among the recurring guest stars who’ve guest-starred on the show over the years.
