The 40-year-old Brazilian actress has been cast in Amblin Partners’ Sigourney WeaverKevin Kline feature reteam The Good House.

Baccarin joins a list of recent cast additions that includes Rob Delaney, Beverly D’AngeloDavid RascheRebecca Hendersonand Molly Brown.

The film, already shooting in Canada, is directed by Maya Forbes and Wally Wolodarsky, based on a script they co-wrote adapted from the Ann Learynovel

The Good House follows Hildy Good (Weaver), a wry New England realtor and descendant of the Salem witches who loves her wine and loves her secrets. Her compartmentalized life starts to unravel as she rekindles an old romance and becomes dangerously entwined in one person’s reckless behavior.

Baccarin will play Rebecca McAllister, a beautiful, luminous woman in an unhappy marriage. She’s distractible, emotional, with an air of danger around her.

Camila Perez to Appear on FX’s Limited Series “Teacher”

The Colombian actress is set to appear on FX’s limited series Teacher.

Kate Mara and Nick Robinson will star in the 10-episode series, which is based on Hannah Fidell’s buzzy 2013 Sundance Film Festival feature, starring and executive produced by Mara.

A Teacherexplores the story behind the mugshot of a female high school teacher (Mara) caught in an affair with her male student (Robinson), revealing the complexities and consequences of these illegal relationships. 

Perez will appear in a recurring role, alongside Rya KihlstedtCameron Moulène and Ciara Bravo. Series regulars include Ashley Zukerman, Marielle ScottShane Harper and Adam David Thompson

Fidell, who wrote, directed and produced the film, will pen the adaptation, direct and executive produce the limited series.

Perezportrays Alison, Eric’s socially conscious and well-meaning ex-girlfriend. Bravoportrays Mary.

Morena Baccarin to Star in the Nourish Thriller “Tropico”

The 40-year-old Brazilian actress is set to star in director Giada Colagrande’s Tropico, a noirish thriller set in Brazil.

Baccarin will star opposite Pedro Pascal and Willem Dafoein the film, from a screenplay by Barry Gifford.

In Tropico, Dafoe plays Raymond Sanz, a veteran operative hired to spy on Mark, an American businessman (Pascal) in a steamy costal town in Northern Brazil. However, things get more complicated when Sanz falls simultaneously for Mark’s wife, the mysterious and beautiful Lucia (Baccarin), and her equally beautiful identical twin sister, Olivia (Baccarin).

“Barry’s atmospheric screenplay is an exotic thriller in the best traditions of the noir genre,” said Colagrande, “and I also couldn’t be more excited to work with such an accomplished group of actors.”

Eclipse Pictureshas acquired the worldwide sales rights to Tropico.

Colagrande previously directed Padre and her debut film Open My Heart played at Venice Film Festivalin 2002.

Production on the film is due to start in the first quarter of 2020 in São Luis Do Maranhão, Northern Brazil.

In addition to her regular roles on the iconic series Homeland and Gotham, Baccarin has two Deadpool blockbusters under her belt and next stars opposite Gerard Butlerin Greenland forSTX Filmsand opposite Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibsonin Waldo.

Pascal, who starred on television in Game of Thrones and Narcos and appeared in the Equalizer 2 film, will next be seen in the Robert Rodriguez-directed We Can Be Heroes, and opposite Gal Gadotin the sequel Wonder Woman 1984. He also stars in the title role of Jon Favreau’s upcoming Star Wars spinoff, The Mandalorian.

David Zayas to Star in the Action Film ” Force of Nature”

The 56-year-old Puerto Rican actor will star opposite Mel Gibson, Kate Bosworth and Emile Hirsch in Emmett-Furla-Oasis’ Force of Nature.

Zayas, best known for his role on Dexter, will play John the Baptist in the Michael Polish-directed action film about a gang of thieves who plot a heist during a hurricane, only to have a cop complicate events.

Zayas’ character is part of the bank heist crew, described as a ruthless, cold guy who’ll stop at nothing to get what he wants, even if means sacrificing people on his team. 

The film is currently shooting in Puerto Rico. 

Zayas is a former New York police officer, and he began his acting career with LAByrinth Theater Company in 1992. His film credits include The ExpendablesMichael Clayton16 BlocksThe Savages and Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the DeadHe’ll next appear in Paramount Players Body Cam.

He played Angel Batista on the Emmy-winning Showtimes eries Dexter, was recently seen as Sal Maroni on Fox’s Gothamportrayed Sheriff Aguirre on Netflix’s Bloodline, and Eduardo Magana on Hulu’s Shut Eye among several credits. While working on the crime drama The Beat, Zayas met Emmy-winning television writer and producer Tom Fontana, who went on to create the role of Enrique Morales on HBO’s Oz especially for him.

CBS All Access has ordered a second season The Twilight Zone, itsanthology series starring the 47-year-old Afro-Latina American actress.

The CBS All Access series is a modern reimagining of Rod Serling’s original, which aired from 1959-64 on CBS and became a worldwide phenomenon, using socially conscious storytelling to explore the human condition and culture of the times.

CBS announced in 2017 that it would revive The Twilight Zone for streaming service CBS All Access with Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions and Simon Kinberg’s Genre Films.

The Enemy Within is a fast-paced thriller set in the world of counterintelligence.

Peña will play Anna Cruz, an ambitiousCIAanalyst enlisted by FBISpecial Agent, Will Keaton (Chestnut) to assist in the hunt for a former Russian SVR agent turned rogue operative who’s responsible for the deaths of her fellow CIA officers. David Zayas Lands Recurring Role on Syfy’s Upcoming Series “Deadly Class”

The 56-year-old Puerto Rican actor, best known for his work on Dexter, has landed a recurring role on Syfy’s upcoming series Deadly Class, which is based on the Image Comics graphic novel by Rick Remender and Wes Craig.

Deadly Class is described as a coming-of-age journey full of ancient mystery and teen angst. Set in a dark, heightened world against the backdrop of late ‘80s counterculture, it follows the story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a teen living on the streets who is recruited into Kings Dominion, an elite private academy where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.

Zayas will play El Alma Del Diablo. Leader of the Mexican cartel, El Alma del Diablo is Chico’s father. He runs his family just like his cartel – with an iron fist.

Benedict Wong, Lana Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James and Michel Duval also star.

The 32=year-old half-Dominican American actress and former Chicago Fire has been cast as the lead in P-TownStarz’s drama that touches on the current opioid epidemic.

Now that it’s been ordered to series, P-Town will begin production in March.

Written and executive produced by Cutter, P-Town centers on Jackie Quinones (Raymund), a lesbian National Marine Fisheries Services officer, happy to use her gun and badge to pick up tourist chicks in “P-Town” — the gay mecca of Provincetown, MA. But when she finds a body washed up on the beach — collateral damage of the opioid epidemic – Jackie’s life begins to circle the drain. As she faces her own addictive behaviors, she becomes increasingly obsessed with solving the murder. Jackie’s forced to confront the dark side of the idyllic summer spot – all the while putting herself and her sobriety in danger.

As opiate-related overdose deaths have skyrocketed in the U.S. since 2001, Massachusetts has been hit hard, with more than 1,250 deaths from heroin overdose in 2014. The 2015 HBOdocumentary Heroin: Cape Cod, USA, depicted the dire situation in Cape Cod where 85 percent of the crimes are opiate-related.

Raymund played Gabriella Dawson for six seasons on NBC’s Chicago Fire. She was one of five original series regulars whose initial contracts expired after Season 6 and the most prominent female cast member on the Wolf Entertainment/Universal Televisiondrama. Raymund played Paramedic in Charge/Firefighter Candidate Gabriela “Gabby” Dawson.

Raymund is also known for her role as Dana Lodge on CBS The Good Wife.

J.W. Cortes to Appear at Pop Culture Event “DC in D.C.”

DC in D.C. brings together stars, including the Puerto Rican Marine-combat-veteran-turned-actor and Gotham star, as well as producers from WBTV’s DC TV series, including Arrow, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham, Supergirl and Freedom Fighters: The Ray, with DC comic book writers and artists, along with invited guests from politics, government service, business academia and more.

The event, which takes place Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13, will explore the intersection of comic books, culture, entertainment and enlightenment through a series of panel discussions open to the public.

Events will take place both days at the Newseum, and will culminate with the world premiere screening of the upcoming DC series Black Lightning in the Warner Bros. Theater at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

A party will follow at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
