Lochte to Appear on a Reality TV Show?

Now that he’s set his sights on competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, is Ryan Lochte preparing to learn the samba in front of a national audience?

Ryan Lochte

The 28-year-old half-Cuban American swimmer, who picked up five medals at the2012 Olympic Games, appeared on Good Morning America this week and was asked if he’d rather appear on ABC’s The Bachelor or Dancing With the Stars?

Lochte’s pick: ballroom or babes!

“It’s a competition, and I have that competitive edge in me,” explained Lochte, who plans to move to Los Angeles now that the Olympics have come and gone.

Teammate Michael Phelps has also said he’d be interested in Dancing with the Stars, according to Us Weekly. So maybe they’ll soon get to face-off on the dance floor.

“Ryan would make the perfect next Bachelor. … He has the ‘it’ factor. Especially after his mother’s one-night-stand comment, everyone wants to know who is the real Ryan and what would it be like to date him,” a media expert told HuffPost. “Forget dancing shows — this guy should be doing dating shows, for sure.”

Meanwhile, according to the The Hollywood Reporter, Lochte’s agent says the Olympian has three offers for a reality show on the table.

If he did one, he promised GMA it would be unusual. “It wouldn’t be your normal reality TV show because I’m definitely not your normal guy.”

Today’s Matt Lauer followed up on the reality question on Friday and Lochte replied, “I’m definitely looking towards Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor, so we’ll see what happens. I definitely want to move to L.A. That’s been a big goal of mine, getting into fashion because that is my passion. I definitely want to get into fashion and design my own clothing line.”

“Let’s take the power that we have, and let’s tell the world that this is still a very big issue,” says Martin.

Minaj, meantime, said she always wanted to be a part of Viva Glam, “because they give back to people with AIDS,” she said. “They’re in need of food, they’re in need of shelter, they’re in need of medicine. M.A.C. and this lipstick make it possible.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the M.A.C. Viva Glam lipstick and lip gloss will be donated to the M.A.C. AIDS Fund.

“MAC is once again at the intersection of fashion and pop culture,” said John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. and chairman of the MAC AIDS Fund, of the Minaj-Martin pairing. To date, MAC has raised $236 million with the MAC AIDS Fund and is on track to raise $250 million by June, said Demsey.

O’Brien’s “Starting Point” Launching Next Week

Starting next week, you’ll have the chance to wake up with Soledad O’Brien.

Starting Point, the 45-year-old half-Cuban journalist’s brand new morning show on CNN, will launch on Monday, January 2. It will air weekdays from 7:00-9:00 am.

Soledad O'Brien

CNN had previously confirmed rumors that the network was planning to revamp its morning lineup, with O’Brien and Ashleigh Banfield at the top of the list of anchors predicted to be a part of the new early morning schedule.

Meanwhile, Zoraida Sambolin will co-host Early Start with Banfield. The show will run right before O’Brien’s Starting point from 5:00-7:00 am.

Sambolin is a former early morning news anchor from Chicago, while Banfield is a former ABC News co-anchor.

The news comes as CNN is hoping to break through the morning show clutter dominated by the Today show, Good Morning America as well as Fox & Friends and Morning Joe.

O’Brien Returning to Morning TV?

It looks like you could be waking up to Soledad O’Brien in the morning…

CNN is looking to unveil a new morning lineup, according to the New York Times, which could result in the 45-year-old half-Cuban journalist’s return to morning television. The cable network’s plans would mean the end of its current American Morning program, which has performed poorly in the ratings.

The new morning schedule, which could be revealed as early as this week, would see O’Brien, one of CNN’s former morning presenters and the current host of the network’s “In America” documentary unit, anchor from 7:00 am to 9:00 am on weekdays.

Former ABC News correspondent Ashleigh Banfield, would co-anchor with another presenter from 5:00 am to 7:00 am. One possible sidekick:

According to the Times, one co-anchor possibility is Zoraida Sambolin. She’s a Latina journalist who formerly anchored the early morning newscast at Chicago’s NBC station before announcing her move to CNN.

CNN declined to comment on possible changes, the Times said.

American Morning has consistently struggled in the ratings against NBC’s Today show and ABC’s Good Morning America, as well as Fox & Friends and Morning Joe on CNN’s cable news competitors. The morning lineup has also underperformed against Morning Express With Robin Meade on CNN own sister channel HLN.
