The growing influence of Latina celebrities like Eva Longoria, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara and Lea Michele is being felt across the pond…
The four starlets with Hispanic roots were recognized at Glamour Magazine UK’s annual “Women of the Year” awards ceremony in London on Tuesday. The event is held each year to recognize women in the public eye for their outstanding accomplishments.
Sofia Vergara was named “Comedy Actress of the Year” for her hilarious role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family.
The 39-year-old Colombian bombshell wore a form fitting red and purple print dress that perfectly accentuated her curves to her ceremony.
“This is bloody amazing! I’m so happy to be here, Glamour, thank you!” she said while accepting her award. “To be part of this with all these glamorous people is amazing. Thank you so much, I hope to be back again.”
Jessica Alba also was recognized as the “Entrepreneur of the Year” for her recently launched business, The Honest Company, which sells environmentally friendly baby and household items.
The 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who will be reprising her role in the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City, donned a lace black gown, which she paired with an Alexander McQueen bag.
“It took me about an hour to get ready,” Alba said. “I’m really looking forward to just celebrating women and seeing people here that I haven’t seen very much because I’m always working, it’s nice to just hang out with some of these glamorous people.”
Meanwhile, Eva Longoria received the “Inspiration of the Year”award for her incredible charity work.
The 37-year-old Mexican actress turned heads in an bold orange gown by her close friend Victoria Beckham, which she paired with Brian Atwood nude heels and a Salvatore Ferragamo clutch.
Longoria shined a spotlight on the roomful of Latinas at the event by Tweeting: “Me and the gorgeous Latinas at Glamour UK Awards @jessicaalba @sofiavergara and the most Latin one @piersmorgan !! Ha!”
And last but not least, Glee’s Lea Michele received the” US TV Actress of the Year.” The half-Spanish actress arrived in a sleek navy Zac Posen gown.
