Tena Earns Best Actress Honors at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival

Natalia Tena has gone the distance at the Malaga Spanish Film Festival

The 29-year-old Spanish actress – born and raised in England – tied Elena Anaya (Todos Estan Muertos) for best actress honors at the fest over the weekend.

Tena, best known for her role as wildling Osha in the HBO’s Game of Thrones, earned the honors for her performance in Carlos Marques-Marcet’s directorial debut Long Distance, which also won the top award, the Gold Biznaga, and the best director prize.

Marques-Marcet also landed the best new scriptwriter award with co-writer Clara Roquet for penning the long-distance romance with a production budget less than $690,000 (€500,000).

Distance is a Spanish-U.S. co-production between L.A based Panda Productions and Spain’s Lastor Media and will be released in Spain on May 16.

“The awards mean a huge chance for this independent movie to have success at the box office,” producer Pau Brunet said. “It’s also a triumph for a kind of independent cinema done with untraditional budgets but financed with international vision and the artistic bravery that has characterized the European art house.”

Beatriz SanchisTodos Estan Muertos, about a woman who lives with her agoraphobic daughter, also took the Silver Biznaga with a Special Jury Mention.

Other key awards included Juan Diego’s best actor honor for Anochece en la India, Yolanda Ramos’ for supporting actress in Carmina y Amen, Salva Reina and Hector Medina’s tie for supporting actor in 321 Days in Michigan and Paco Leon for screenplay for Carmina y Amen.

The 37-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton singer-songwriter has provided a track to HBO’s Game of Thrones mixtape, which has been released in preparation for the fantasy show’s season 4 debut.

Daddy Yankee’s “Born to Rule” appears as the fifth single on the 10-track mixtape.

In addition to Daddy Yankee, Catch The Throne: The Mixtape includes tracks from Wale, Big Boi, Common, Snow Tha Product, Bodega Bamz and Magazeen.

The release from Launch Point Records features songs inspired by the storylines of the show’s first three seasons.

Pascal Cast in the ABC Drama Pilot “Exposed”

Pedro Pascal’s latest project has been exposed…

The 38-year-old Chilean actor, who will be making his debut on HBO’s Game of Thrones in the near future, has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Exposed.

From writer Charles Randolph, Peter Traugott’s TBD Entertainment and Universal Television, the project centers on Anna, an investigative journalist who’ll stop at nothing to uncover the truth, including making questionable alliances.

Pascal will portray Oscar, Anna’s boyfriend, who’s frustrated that she’s unwilling to take their relationship to the next level.

In addition to Pascal, the show will also star Sandrine Holt and Peter De Jersey.

HBO has released the first official images from Game of Thrones‘ fourth season, including images of the 38-year-old Chilean actor in character.

Pascal, who recently landed a role on CBSThe Mentalist, is set to portray Prince Oberyn Martell, better known as the Red Viper in the upcoming season of the network’s hit series.

Pascal’s character comes to Kings Landing seeking revenge for the death of his sister, who was killed by the Lannisters when the Mad King was overthrown.

Pascal, who had a  guest-starring role on Showtime’s Homeland, has previously had arcs on CBS’ The Good Wife, ABC’s Red Widow and USA’s Graceland.

The season four premiere of Game of Thrones is set for Sunday, April 6.

The 38-year-old Chilean actor has landed a recurring role on CBS’ Simon Baker-starrer The Mentalist.

The Graceland alum will portray FBI Special Agent Marcus Pike, according to TVLine.

Pike is described as a “charming” blue-collar cop with FBI smarts. When he asks Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) to help find a band of art thieves, he’s immediately attracted to Lisbon and tries to sweep her off her feet.

Pascal, who will also appear in an iconic role on the new season of HBO’s hit drama Game of Thrones, will debut in Episode 16 and appear in at least five episodes.

Pascal, who appeared in a guest starring role on Showtime’s Homeland, has previously had arcs on CBSThe Good Wife and ABC’s Red Widow.

The Mentalist airs Sundays at 10:00 pm ET on CBS.

Mollà Joins the Cast of FX’s Paul Giamatti Comedy Pilot “Hoke”

The 45-year-old Spanish actor, filmmaker, writer and artist has joined the cast of FX’s Paul Giamatti comedy pilot Hoke.

Hoke is the story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hard-boiled and possibly insane homicide detective, Hoke Moseley (Giamatti), in pre-chic Miami circa 1985.

Mollà, who appeared in Bad Boys II, will portray Armando Zuniga, a sociopathic Cuban who arrives on the shores of Miami in the rumpled, faded clothing of a peasant Cuban refugee and integrates into the city posing as a famous poet of the Cuban people.

But Mollà isn’t the only Spaniard joining the cast…

Game of Thrones star Oona Chaplin will plays Ellita Sanchez, a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s new partner.

Other cast members include Body of Proof’s John Carroll Lynch Nashville’s Robert Wisdom and Guiding Light’s Tammy Blanchard.

Hoke is a darkly comedic take on Charles Willeford‘s series of novels Sideswipe, New Hope for the Dead and The Way We Die Now.

The project hails from writer/producer and Academy Award nominee Scott Frank (Out of Sight, Get Shorty).

Production is set to begin in Miami later this year.

Trailer Released for the Black Comedy “Dom Hemingway,” Starring Bichir

He may portray a police detective on FX’s The Bridge But Demián Bichir is far from law-abiding in his latest film.

Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Dom Hemingway, starring the 50-year-old Mexican actor as Jude Law’s maniacal boss.

Law plays the eponymous larger-than-life safecracker in the black comedy. Back on the streets of London after 12 years in prison, he’s eager to collect what he’s owed for keeping his mouth shut. But things take a turn when he and his partner (Richard E. Grant) visit his boss (Bichir) in the south of France.

Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke also stars in the film  from The Matador writer-director Richard Shepard.

Lionsgate UK is releasing the film on November 15th in Britain and Fox Searchlight will release the film in North America next year.

Cannavale Wins Emmy for His Supporting Role on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”

Bobby Cannavale has a matching pair of golden bookends…

The 43-year-old half-Cuban American actor claimed the second Primetime Emmy award of his career Sunday night for his critically acclaimed performance on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.

Cannavale, who portrayed bloodthirsty, but insecure Gyp Rosetti on the hit drama series, pulled off an upset by beating the pre-show pick Homeland’s Mandy Patinkin and sentimental favorite Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul for the Supporting Actor in a Drama award. The other nominees included Breaking Bad’s Jonathan Banks, Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter and Game of ThronesPeter Dinklage.

Even Cannavale seemed shocked to hear his name called and he marveled that Patinkin was the first person he ever saw on stage, before remembering to give a proper acceptance speech and thank his family.

Cannavale earned his first Primetime Emmy Award in 2005 for portraying Will’s police officer boyfriend on Will and Grace.

Along with earning a nod for his work on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Cannavale also earned his second consecutive nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Dr. Mike Cruz on Showtime‘s Nurse Jackie.

It was also recently announced that Cannavale has joined Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in the big screen remake of Annie.

Carter to Portray the Fairy Godmother in Disney’s Live-Action Version of “Cinderella”

Helena Bonham Carter is about to make one princess’ wish come true…

The 46-year-old part-Spanish actress’ has landed the high profile role of the fairy godmother in Disney’s live-action version of Cinderella.

Kenneth Branagh is directing the film project, which sees Lily James in the title role, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and Game of ThronesRichard Madden as the prince.

Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) and Holliday Granger (The Borgias) are set to play the stepsisters.

The fairy godmother will be getting more screen time in this version than in Disney’s classic animated movie, with the character disguised as an old beggar who watches over Cinderella before revealing herself as the magical being she truly is.

Cinderella will be shot this fall in London.

Bonham Carter previously played the Red Queen in another Disney film, 2010’s Alice in Wonderland. She also appears in the studio’s big summer tentpole, The Lone Ranger, which reunites her with Johnny Depp, whom she starred with in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
