Souza Cast in the ABC Drama Pilot “How to Get Away with Murder”

No, it’s not a crime we’re talking about.

The 28-year-old Mexican actress has been cast in the ABC/ABC Studios drama pilot How to Get Away with Murder.

The sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller centers on ambitious law students and their brilliant and mysterious criminal defense professor who become entangled in a murder plot.

Souzo, who starred in two of last year’s massive hit Mexican comedies Nosotros los nobles and No se aceptan devoluciones, will portray one of the law students.

Souza’s other credits include the film From Prada to Nada and the Mexican television series Terminales.

Barraza Joining George Lopez in FX’s Sitcom “Saint George”

The 57-year-old Mexican actress, who earned an Oscar nomination for her heart-wrenching role as Mexican nanny Amelia in the Brad Pitt-starrer Babel, will co-star opposite George Lopez in Saint George, FX’s upcoming 10-90 sitcom from Lionsgate TV and Debmar-Mercury.

Created and co-written by Matt Williams, David McFadzean and Lopez, Saint George revolves around the chaotic life of a recently divorced working class Mexican-American turned successful entrepreneur (portrayed Lopez), who struggles to balance his demanding ex-wife, his 11-year-old son, his overbearing mother (Barraza) who just moved in, and his uncle. If that isn’t enough, he also has to deal with his new role teaching history once a week at a night school.

Barraza, also recently booked a recurring arc on Guillermo Del Toro’s FX drama The Strain, starring Mia Maestro.

In her native Mexico, Barraza is best known for her role in Amores Perros. Her other credits include Henry Poole Is Here, Drag Me to Hell, Spanglish, From Prada to Nada and Thor.

The 25-year-old half-Brazilian American actress is in final negotiations to star opposite The Twilight Saga’s Kellan Lutz in Love Is All You Need?

The independent film is set in a world where homosexuality is the norm and follows several storylines.

Belle, has previously starred in 10,000 BC and From Prada to Nada, will portray a star football quarterback adored by a large fan base while Lutz, whose deal is closed, would play an aspiring journalist. The two fall in love, with their relationship growing in secret, but when the romance becomes public, the two find themselves being bullied.

The feature is based on a short by Kim Rocco Shields. Shields co-wrote the feature script with David Tillman and is directing.

Belle currently stars opposite Andy Garcia in the indie drama Open Road, which premiered at the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival.

It’s time to cast your vote for Best Latino Actor, to be announced at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards

MTV Tr3s announced the nominees in the category; and the bilingual entertainment channel is urging the public to vote for their favorite.

This year’s nominees include Zoe Saldaña for her role in Colombiana, Diego Luna for Casa de Mi Padre, Demian Bichir for A Better Life, Penelope Cruz for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Harmony Santana for Gun Hill Road.

Between now and June 2, MTV Tr3s viewers can vote online for this year’s Best Latino Actor at movieawards.tr3s.com.

2012 MTV Movie Awards

The winner will be announced on MTV Tr3s on June 10, during the Spanish-subtitled rebroadcast of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

MTV will broadcast the MTV Movie Awards live on June 3, with Kid Cudi this year’s lone Latino nominee.

Last year, film fans selected actress Alexa Vega as Best Latino Actor for her role in the comedy From Prada to Nada.
