Camila Cabello to Be Honored During Variety’s “2022 Power of Women” Event

Camila Cabello has the power…

The 25-year-old Cuban & Mexican singer and former Fifth Harmony member, who released her third solo studio album Familia earlier this month, will be among the honorees at Variety’s 2022 Power of Women: New York event.

Cabello is among a list of honorees that includes Drew Barrymore, Kim Cattrall, Queen Latifah, Amanda Seyfried and Venus Williams.

Cabello, a three-time Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum, and chart-topping singer/songwriter, is being honored for her work with the The Healing Justice Project.

In January 2021, Cabello and Movement Voter Fund launched the initiative to provide direct funding to provide culturally relevant mental health and wellness resources to youth activists and grassroots organizations working at the intersection of racial and economic justice, electoral organizing, and other movements that propel this country forward.

The in-person event will take place at The Glasshouse on May 5. Presented in partnership with Lifetime, the event gathers an intimate group of philanthropic women who have been selected as Variety’s honorees, as well as the most powerful women working in media and entertainment.

Each of the six honorees will be featured on the cover of Variety’s Power of Women issue, available May 4.

The issue will include the annual Women’s Impact Report, which highlights the top 50 women working in media and entertainment who made an impact this year on the industry.

Camila Cabello Teams Up with Willow for New Dark Pop Track “Psychofreak”

Camila Cabello has a willow future hit on her hands…

The 25-year-old Mexican & Cuban singer has joined voices with Willow’s for their collaborative track “Psychofreak” and the song’s music video.

To kick off the release of her third studio album, Familia, Cabello dropped the video for the dark pop track on Friday (April 8).

In the video, Cabello and Willow are at the mercy of a liminal space consisting of turquoise and green-painted walls, paneled office ceilings and carpeted flooring. As Cabello begins contemplating her many anxieties and lack of connection with others, the walls in the space start to shift. Suddenly the singer is perched on the walls and ceiling, highlighting the inner turmoil she feels.

“Feelin’ like a psychofreak sometimes/ Tryna get connected, no Wi-Fi/ Tell me that you love me, are you lying?/ Give me lemonade, I give you limes/ House in the hills is a house of cards/ Blink and the fairytale falls apart/ Sorry, didn’t mean to get so dark/ Maybe I’m an alien, Earth is hard,” Cabello sings in the chorus of the track.

The song also sees the former Fifth Harmony member discussing her 2016 split from the group in the track’s second verse: “Everybody says they miss the old me/ I been on this ride since I was 15/ I don’t blame the girls for how it went down, down.” Cabello confirmed the lyrics were about her leaving the group in an April 7 interview with Reuters, and said she is in a “really good place” with the other members.

Willow, meanwhile, chimes in for an assist on the downtempo tune, and gives an angsty edge to the song, singing about her inability to open herself up to love from a partner and relax. “Wish I could be like everyone/ But I’m not like anyone,” she laments.

Camila Cabello to Take Part in “Concert For Ukraine” to Raise Money for the People of Ukraine

Camila Cabello is helping raise money for the people of the war-ravaged Ukraine…

The 25-year-old Cuban and Mexican singer and former Fifth Harmony member is among an all-star group of artists coming together for a special telethon to raise money for the embattled people of Ukraine.

The March 29th Concert For Ukraine is slated to take place at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England.

Along with Cabello and her “Bam Bam” collaborator Ed Sheeran, the event will also feature sets from Emeli Sandé, Gregory Porter and Snow Patrol, with more acts to be added soon.

The live two-hour special will raise funds for humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine, who have been under relentless attack by Russian forces since Vladimir Putin started a war with the former Soviet satellite country nearly three weeks ago.

The broadcast will air on ITV, STV, ITV Hub and the STV Player in a collaboration with the Disasters Emergency Committee, with the goal of spreading a message of “hope and support, and most importantly, raising funds for the ongoing DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal,” according to a statement.

“I will be singing to try to help every innocent human being forced to flee their home and in solidarity with those being racially discriminated against even within this humanitarian crisis,” said Sandé in a statement. “Nobody should be refused access to relief, aid and the right to cross the border to safety, and I’m pleased for the chance to support the DEC’s appeal to help all people whose lives have been affected by the conflict.”

All sponsorship and advertising revenue generated from the broadcast — expected to raise nearly $4 million — will be donated by ITV to the DEC appeal. Tickets for the event are available here.

The ITV event will take place just three days after another star-studded fundraiser for the people of Ukraine, who have bravely battled relentless bombardment from Russian forces accused of war crimes in the one-sided invasion that has reportedly hit a number of civilian targets.

Rosie Perez, Steve Martin, Annette Bening, Billy Porter, Audra McDonald, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Chenoweth and David Hyde Pierce have signed up for the 10-hour telethon Stars in the House, which will air on Saturday, March 26 from noon-10 p.m. ET. The special can be viewed and listened to on the series’ site, the Stars in the House YouTube channel, as well as SiriusXM Stars109.

Ally Brooke to Help Recognize Student Athletes During NFL’s Sports & Fitness Youth Awards

In celebration of Super Bowl LVI Week, the 28-year-old Mexican American singer and former Fifth Harmony band member will serve as a special guest at the NFL’s Sports & Fitness Youth Awards, presented by the NFL and the Hispanic Heritage Foundation.

Ally Brooke will form part of the event to recognize 10 student-athlete leaders, who’ve been selected among a pool of nearly 30,000 applicants.

Last week, Ally Brooke returned with her second single in Spanish, carrying a message about the strength of love in “Por Ti.” The song has reached No. 21 on the iTunes Latin chart and no. 1 on iTunes Ecuador.

The NFL’s Sports & Fitness Youth Awards will take place on February 8 at the LA Convention Center.

Camila Cabello’s “Havana” Music Video Joins YouTube’s Billion Views Club

It’s a repeat billion performance for Camila Cabello…

The 24-year-old Mexican and Cuban singer and former Fifth Harmony member’s “Havana” video, featuring Young Thug, has surpassed 1 billion views on YouTube, the video-sharing site has announced.

Cabello’s video was released in October 2017 and the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2018 — marking Cabello’s first No. 1 on the chart.

Cabello is no stranger to YouTube’s Billion Views Club. Before launching her solo career, Cabello’s all-girl group Fifth Harmony— as of August this year — has racked up a pair of videos with 2 billion views on the site: 2015’s “Worth It” and 2016’s “Work From Home.”

Cabello also racked up 1 billion views with her 2019 Shawn Mendes duet “Señorita,” which joined the club in April 2000. The former couple’s steamy duet also hit No. 1 on the Hot 100.

Lauren Jauregui Releases Debut Solo Album “Prelude”

The wait is over for Lauren Jauregui’s debut solo album…

The 25-year-old Cuban American singer and former Fifth Harmony member has released Prelude, her long-awaited official debut solo project.

Prelude shows a side of Jauregui that fans have only ever gotten to see a glimpse of.

The seven deeply personal tracks follow the star as she deals with losing someone she loves (“Colors“), confronting herself in the wake of said loss (“Scattered“), and putting herself on the defense as she re-enters the world (“On Guard“).

Prelude is a re-introduction to Jauregui as a new artist, ready to make you want to cry, dance and think all at the same time.

“This is truly my child. I’m continuing to change. These songs mean a lot to me and speak to a very real part of myself I’ve been working on,” Jauregui says of the project in a statement. “They feel good. I’ve sat with them. I’m comfortable with them … I found out what I sonically wanted to say. It was a beautiful process to understand I have my own voice as an artist. 2021 Lauren is a whole new bitch.”

For her first solo, all-Spanish single, the 28-year-old Mexican American singer and former Fifth Harmony band member taps into the reggaeton realm with “Mi Musica,” marking a new direction for the former Dancing with the Stars competitor.

“This song is purely from my heart, and it is as ‘me’ as it gets,” Ally Brooke said in a statement. “I am proud to say I helped to write this song that means so much to me. The message of ‘Mi Musica’ is that I am nothing without my family, dear friends and fans. I have everything because I have them, and to them, I dedicate this song.”

Co-written by Brooke, Yofred, Azzi and King Mora, Brooke’s first Spanish single is a preview of her upcoming first-ever Spanish-language album, which will also be her debut album as a solo artist.

Lauren Jauregui Releases New Single “Colors”

It’s a colorful time for Lauren Jauregui…

The 25-year-old Cuban American singer and former Fifth Harmony member has released a brand-new single, “Colors.”

The track is taken from her upcoming solo project titled PRELUDE.

Written by Jauregui and produced by Johnny Rain, “Colors” is a contemplative, emotionally charged song revealing the singer’s internal reality check.

“Deep gratitude to be able to finally birth the beginning of this project into the world. PRELUDE is a piece of my heart, and I can’t wait for you all to hear what that sounds like,” shares Jauregui in a statement.

“Colors” starts off filling space with piano and airy strings before descending into a lush rhythm of R&B-style drums, ending with Jauregui reciting, “I’m actually not addicted to the drugs / I’m addicted to feeling f–king numb.”

Speaking about the song, Lauren reveals, “When you paint a wall, you have to paint over what is underneath. I’m trying to convince myself I’m someone I’m not,” she explains. “The song is a literal conversation. When everyone is gone, it’s just you and I. You can paint on the wall, but you can’t erase them all. I’m letting myself know that no matter what is going on, I need to be okay with myself. You can’t run away from yourself, because all of your layers are still going to be there. You need to learn to see them and accept them.”

Along with the new music, Jauregui has also revealed in an interview with Bustle that she’s taking full creative control of her new solo journey, releasing music in partnership with AWAL Recordings and serving as executive producer on her upcoming album. Fifth Harmony went on indefinite hiatus in March 2018.

According to Lauren, “My music is about getting to the bottom of how I’m feeling… Now, I have the freedom to explore all of the different ways I can express myself. My art is a witness to my growth.”

Lauren Jauregui to Launch Debut Solo Project “Prelude” with Global Livestream Performance

Lauren Jauregui is finally going solo…

The 25-year-old Cuban American singer and former Fifth Harmony member is preparing to launch her debut solo project Prelude, and she’s readying to roll it out in a special way.

Jauregui sat down with Billboard News host Chelsea Briggs to talk about Prelude, which she’ll be presenting for the very first time during a special global livestream performance via Moment House in October.

“I want the story to tell itself through the music,” the “Expectations” singer says. “It’s very introspective. I go through a lot of different emotions and revealings throughout it. And it’s also just the beginning, you know? So it’s just the first round of people seeing me for the songwriter that I am and for the artist that I am across the board, even beyond just the music. Like just the whole vision of everything coming to life.”

Jauregui says Prelude dives into vulnerable topics ranging from mental health to love.

“I feel like I really explore my strength through my vulnerability,” she says. But her debut solo project also marks “an unveiling [rather] than a discovery” of her voice after her girl group Fifth Harmony went on indefinite hiatus in 2018.

“I have learned that I am resilient. I have learned that I truly have a lot of inner-strength and power. And I have learned that I am protected and guided spiritually, and I’ve leaned in a much deeper way than I ever have in my life,” she says of the songwriting process.

Co-directed by her new creative director Matthew Daniel Siskin (Beyoncé, 6LACK, Florence & The Machine), Jauregui’s livestream will air on Thursday, October 14, and Friday, October 15, across multiple territories, including North and South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the U.K., Europe and Africa. “I want people to experience the rawness of the songs, and I feel like I really captured that,” Jauregui tells Billboard. “And I’m really capturing that through the process of creating this piece that I’m going to present to people.”

Ally Brooke Recording First-Ever Spanish-Language Album

Ally Brooke is switching tongues…

The 28-year-old Mexican American singer and former Fifth Harmony member is currently recording her first Spanish-language album.

Ally Brooke, who appeared on Dancing With the Stars and launched a 2020 U.S. tour, has signed a joint record deal with indie labels Duars Entertainment, founded by Eric Duars, and with AMSI, launched by entertainment attorney Simran A. Singh, becoming the first female artist signed to either company.

Brooke is working with producers Luny Tunes, Dimelo Flow and Mr. NaisGai, among others on the album, which will feature collaborations with Latin and mainstream artists.

The San Antonio native met Singh –who also reps Daddy Yankee, Ozuna and Anuel AA, among others—through mutual friend Suzette Quintanilla, Selena’s sister.

Singh, who initially came onboard as her attorney, was impressed with both Ally Brooke’s personality and her voice.

“We began working and I said, ‘What do you think about doing a Spanish album?'” says Singh. “She said she’d love to and we instantly clicked.”

Singh reached out to Duars, another longtime client and friend, and they decided to jointly sign Ally Brooke to an unusual joint label deal instead of shopping her to another label.

“Eric and I know this business very well and we have the capital. So rather than knock on doors, we’re going to build it up ourselves,” Singh told Billboard.

Ally Brooke is the latest mainstream female artist to record in Spanish in the past year. Selena Gomez released her first Spanish-language EP earlier this year and Camila Cabello has forayed into Spanish in singles as well.

Fans will get a first listen to Ally Brooke’s new music during a showcase hosted by Duars Entertainment and slated to take place during Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami the week of September 20 with a line-up that will also includes Rauw Alejandro. Singh says he plans to release a first single immediately after.

No stranger to the charts, Ally Brooke has scored previous hits alongside collaborators like Tyga and Afrojack.
