Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment Acquires UK Rights to Salvador Dali-Themed Film “Dalíland”

Salvador Dali’s life story headed to the big screen this fall in the United Kingdom…

Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment has acquired the UK distribution rights to the Ben Kingsley and Ezra Miller film Dalíland, about the late Spanish surrealist artist renowned for his technical skill, precise draftsmanship, and the striking and bizarre images in his work.

Dalíland will debut on September 4, with a theatrical release scheduled for October 6 and home entertainment on November 6.

Set in 1973, Dalíland follows a young gallery assistant who goes on a wild adventure behind the scenes as he helps the aging genius, Dalí, prepare for a big show in New York.

The film stars Kingsley in the title role of Dalí. Alongside Kingsley are Barbara Sukowa and newcomer Christopher Briney in the role of James, the young art enthusiast who finds himself thrust into the center of Dalí’s remarkable and unexpected world.

The wider ensemble features Andreja Pejić, Rupert Graves, Suki Waterhouse, Mark McKenna and Ezra Miller.

Maribel Verdú to Star as Ezra Miller’s Mom in Warner Bros. Standalone “The Flash” Film

The 50-year-old Spanish actress will star in Warner Bros.The Flash film.

Verdú, best known for her roles in Y Tu Mama Tambien and Pan’s Labyrinth, will portray Barry Allen’s mother in the upcoming Warner Bros. DC standalone movie.

Billy Crudup, due to a schedule conflict on the second season of Apple’s The Morning Show, won’t be reprising his role as Flash’s father.

Ezra Miller will be playing Allen/The Flash again. Cameras will roll in the spring to summer in London.

Andy Muschietti is directing off a screenplay written by Christina Hodson.

While the plot is under wraps, The Flash reportedly involves alternate dimensions with Allen trying to save his mother from being murdered. Also making cameos are alternate dimension Batmans, Michael Keaton from the 1980s Warner Bros. films and Ben Affleck from the millennium ones.

The 25-year-old Colombian American actress has landed the feature role of DC Universe’s new Supergirl.

Calle, chosen from more than 425 actresses who auditioned, is the first Latina Supergirl ever in DC history.

She will make her debut in Warner Bros’ The Flash.

Andy Muschietti, The Flash director, watched all the auditions and, along with DC Films boss Walter Hamada and producers, was reportedly blown away by the toughness and vulnerability Calle brought to the role.

“The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said Muschietti.

The actresses weren’t informed what part they were reading for until late in the process. Calle also did a chemistry read with Flash star Ezra Miller. All auditions, chem reads and meetings, especially during COVID-19, were done over Zoom.

Calle plays the role of Lola Rosales on The Young and the RestlessShe was nominated last year in the Outstanding Young Performer in a Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys. She also starred in the YouTube miniseries Socially Awkward.

In the DC media canon, Supergirl was first played by Helen Slater in the 1984 Warner Bros movie and later by Melissa Benoist on the Warner Bros television series for 126 episodes.

Arias to Star in the Historial Epic “Ben-Hur”

The 20-year-old Colombian American actor and former Hannah Montana star has joined the cast of Ben-Hur, the historical epic Timur Bekmambetov is directing for MGM and Paramount Pictures.

Arias will play Gestas, a teenage Jewish zealot whose family has been murdered by the Romans, who is desperate to fight for his people’s freedom.

Jack Huston, Morgan Freeman and Toby Kebbell star in the production, which will be shot in Europe ahead of a February 26, 2016 release.

In addition to be being a former Disney Channel star, having appeared on Hannah Montana and The Wizards of Waverly Place, starred in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-nominated film The Kings Of Summer. He also lent his voice recently to Despicable Me 2 and appeared in Summit’s sci-fi film Ender’s Game.

He’ll next appear in the Sundance 2015 drama Stanford Prison Experiment opposite Ezra Miller, Michael Angarano, and Billy Crudup, in which Arias will play one of several university students tapped for the real life role-play exercise that got dangerously out of hand.

Segarra Lands Role in Judd Apatow’s Comedy “Trainwreck”

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican actor has landed a role in Judd Apatow’s latest comedy Trainwreck.

Segarra, who was recently upped to series regular for the second season of USA Network’s comedy series Sirens, will portray the role of Oli, a Staten Island smooth talking guy.

 

The ensemble cast includes Amy Schumer, Daniel Radcliffe, Tilda Swinton, Marisa Tomei, Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, Barkhad Abdi, Mike Birbiglia, Jon Glaser, Vanessa Bayer, John Cena, Ezra Miller, LeBron James and Method Man.

 

Trainwreck is scheduled to hit theaters on July 24, 2015.
