Marc Anthony Developing Music for Sofia Vergara’s Animated Film “Koati”

Marc Anthony is bringing his music to the big screen…

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican Grammy-winning and his Magnus Studios team are joining Sofia Vergara’s animated feature comedy, Koati.

The project’s soundtrack, executive produced by the salsa music icon and produced by Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Julio Reyes Copello, will include 10 original songs by notable names in Latin music and will be released on the Magnus/Sony Music Latin labels and distributed by Sony Music Latin worldwide.

Produced by Upstairs Animation, Latin WE Productions and Los Hijos de Jack, Koati follows three unlikely heroes — Nachi, a free-spirited coatí; Xochi, a fearless monarch butterfly; and Pako, a hyperactive glass frog — as they embark on an adventure to stop wicked coral snake Zaina (Vergara) from destroying their rainforest homeland and friends.

Produced simultaneously in English and Spanish, the voice cast includes Oscar nominee Adriana Barraza (Babel), Joe Manganiello (Justice League), Eduardo Franco (Stranger Things) and actors-musicians Evaluna Montaner (Club 57) and Sebastián Villalobos (Soy Luna).

The film, which is due to be released later this year, was developed by producer-creator Anabella Dovarganes-Sosa, executive producer-chief story consultant Melissa Escobar and executive producer and lead actress, Vergara. Luis Balaguer and Felipe Pimiento will also act as executive producers. Timeless Films handles sales.

Latin American talent runs through the project from director Rodrigo Pérez-Castro, production designer and visual development artist Simón Varela, writer and cultural consultant Ligiah Villalobos, and producer Julio Reyes Copello, who also composed the film’s score.

Anthony said: “I am thrilled to join Sofia in a project where for the first time a renowned team of Hispanic producers, music stars, comedians, and actors come together outside of Hollywood to create an animated movie set up in the Latin American rainforests, which I feel is really exciting and long overdue. I will leave no stone unturned on the music being authentic and celebrating the amazing story and message of Koati. It’s time to show the world, and share what we Latinos have been enjoying for years in a very fun, inspirational film.”

Vergara added: “Koati is a beautiful animated film full of fun and exotic characters that will make you laugh and also touch your heart. I couldn’t dream of a better partner than Marc Anthony to bring this project to life with authentic and powerful Latin American music. Our team is very proud to finally share Koati with families around the world very soon!”

Anthony is the top-selling tropical salsa artist of all time. The two-time Grammy and six-time Latin Grammy winner has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide.

Evaluna Montaner Releases Romantic Ballad “Uno Mas Uno”

Evaluna Montaner is feelin’ the love…

On the one-year anniversary of marriage with Camilo, the 23-year-old Venezuelan singer and actress — one of Billboard‘s Latin Artists to Watch in 2021 – has released her first single of the year, “Uno Mas Uno.”

She co-wrote the romantic ballad, which features an enchanting piano melody and Evaluna’s dulcet vocals, with Camilo and JP Saxe.

“Cómo puede ser, que algo que no puedo tocar sea más real que lo que puedo tocar? Que algo que no puedo ver sea más real que lo que puedo ver?” say the nostalgic lyrics.

In the music video, Evaluna performs the heartfelt song at the beach with a lone piano and the sunset in the background.

Camilo makes a cameo at the end.

“I’m the most fortunate because I have you close, walking with me every step,” she expressed on Instagram of her husband and Latin pop star.

“Uno Más Uno” is part of Evaluna’s upcoming debut EP.

Maluma to Perform at This Year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Awards Show

Maluma is bringing a taste of Jamaica to this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro…

The 27-year-old Colombian superstar is set to premiere hits from his surprise new album 7 Días en Jamaica during the awards show on February 18.

Meanwhile, Marc Anthony and Daddy Yankee will perform their new hit, “De Vuelta Pa La Vuelta.”

The three stars are the latest performers announced for the first Latin music award show of the year, which will air on Univision.

Other performers announced include Mexican star Carlos Rivera, who will perform “100 Años” alongside Maluma. And in a first, the entire Montaner family – Evaluna, Mau y Ricky and dad Ricardo Montaner — will be joined by Camilo (who is married to Evaluna Montaner) to perform “Amén,” which was released during the holidays.

Regional Mexican rising star Lenin Ramírez will also perform alongside Grupo Firme, as will Chesca; with Prince Royce taking the stage alongside Natti Natasha. The latter will sing their hit “Antes que salga el sol” together on television for the first time.

They join previously announced performers Los Ángeles Azules, Anuel AA, CNCO, Ozuna and Gloria Trevi.

Premios Lo Nuestro will air on Univision on February 18, live from the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Ricky Martin Receives International Peace Honors Recognition from PeaceTech Lab

Ricky Martin is celebrating a special honor…

PeaceTech Lab presented the International Peace Honors during a virtual celebration on Sunday night to unite and honor leaders and change agents working toward a more just and equitable future, including the 49-year-old Puerto Rican superstar.

Martin was saluted for his advocacy for human rights, tolerance and peace at the event, which was hosted by Natalia Jiménez.

“In addition to his artistic contributions, Ricky Martin has made notable strides in the social impact space,” said Sheldon Himelfarb, the president and CEO of PeaceTech Lab, in a press release. “He leverages his social networks to advocate for minority rights and promote civic engagement; through his foundation, he works to end human trafficking, especially of children; and in 2020, he galvanized support for frontline workers across the world. His contributions are invaluable, and it is a privilege for us to be able to recognize him during our International Peace Honors.”

Martin is well known for his activism. He’s the founder and president of the Ricky Martin Foundation, which rallies against human trafficking, protects children and vulnerable communities, and defends the human rights of millions.

But Martin wasn’t the only Latino nominee for the first-event International Peace Honors…

Ricardo Montaner was honored for his humanitarian efforts.

Other nominees included Dr. Anthony Fauci, Black Lives Matter co-founder Opal Tometi, Amazonian Chief Raoni and the “father of the internet” Vint Cerf.

Stephen Curry, Eva Longoria, Sting and José Andrés were presenters, while former U.S. President Jimmy Carter delivered a special message.

Sting also delivered an intimate version of “Fragile,” while Alejandro Sanz performed “La Quiero a Morir,” Camilo and his wife Evaluna Montaner (whose father is one of the evening’s honorees) sang “Amen,” and Laura Pausini performed “Io Si,” the main theme of Netflix‘s The Life Ahead.

Camilo Launches Own Podcast “El Rincón de la Tribu”

Camilo is expanding his voice…

The 26-year-old Colombian singer/songwriter, whose full name is Camilo Echeverry, has launched his very own podcast.

As part of Spotify’s Show With Music, Camilo becomes the first Latino artist in any language to debut a program on the new audio experience with his podcast titled “El Rincón de la Tribu” in reference to his loyal fanbase.

For Camilo, who nabbed his first Latin Grammy and Grammy nominations this year, “El Rincón de La Tribu” is a meeting point for him and his fans.

“It’s much closer to being a face-to-face conversation where we discuss humanistic themes, anecdotes that are shared in an atmosphere of trust, and where love is the grandest revolution,” he said in an official statement.

The podcast officially kicked off on NovEMBER 23, just four days after Camilo won best pop song for “TuTu” at the Latin Grammys, with an episode called “Secret Anecdotes of the Latin Grammys.”

Other episodes that have already aired include how his bachata hit “Bebé” in collaboration with El Alfa was born and conversations with his wife, actress and singer, Evaluna Montaner.

La Tribu will also enjoy curated songs recorded by Camilo and other artists, alongside his personal commentary.

Camilo Teams Up with El Alfa for New Bachata-fied Single “Bebé”

Camilo is getting into the bachata business…

On the heels of his playful cumbia, “Vida de Rico,” the 26-year-old Colombian singer, whose full name is Camilo Echeverry, has released a savory bachata single dubbed “Bebé.”

For his new single, the Latin Grammy-winning artist joined voices with El Alfa, one of the Dominican Republic’s biggest artists, to bring this fresh tune to life.

The melody fuses traditional guitar riffs found in bachata with a hint of urban.

“I approach music from my imagination, from what my heart asks of me, and right now what it wants is to dance with someone really close,” Camilo expressed.

“‘Bebe’ is a tribute to the sound that represents this song with the special affection I feel for the Dominican Republic, a country I love with all my heart.”

Co-directed by Evaluna Montaner and Cristian Saumeth, the music video was filmed in Samaná, Las Galeras, and Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic.

Camilo picked up his first-ever Grammy nomination earlier this week.

Rauw Alejandro & Camilo’s “Tattoo” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

Rauw Alejandro has inked another chart-topper…

The 27-year-old Puerto Rican singer, rapper and songwriter and Camilo have earned their second No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart as “Tattoo” rises 4-1 on the September 12 survey.

“Tattoo” sits at the summit with 13 million in audience impressions, up 23%, earned in the week ending September 6, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

The original version of “Tattoo,” released February 13 via Sony Music Latin, was produced by Los Honeyboos (Rafa Rodríguez, Daniel Rondon) and Mr. Nais Gai. It’s one of 17 tracks of Rauw Alejandro’s live album Concierto Virtual en Tiempos de COVID-19 Desde el Coliseo de Puerto Rico which peaks at No. 8 on the current Latin Rhythm Albums chart and at No. 10 on the overall Top Latin Albums chart.

“Tattoo” was assisted by its pop-tinged remix with Colombian Camilo, released July 11. It was also produced and composed by Los Honeyboos and Mr. Nais Gai and composed by Alejandro, Camilo, Elena Rose, José M. Collazo, Eric Pérez Rovira, Eliel Lind Osorio, Aneudy Maysonet and Evaluna Montaner.

“Tattoo” concurrently peaks at No. 7 on the current Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data, a career high for the Puerto Rican.

“Tattoo” also sees improvement elsewhere on the Latin charts: It equally climbs 4-1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay and moves 13-12 on Latin Streaming Songs despite a 2% decline in streams.

The song is part of a TikTok challenge with over 2.6 million videos posted by users. Its hashtag #TattooChallenge has garnered more than 633 million views.

Kany Garcia Releases Music Video for “Titanic,” Her Heartwarming Duet with Camilo

It’s a Titanic moment for Kany Garcia…

The 37-year-old Puerto Rican singer/songwriter has the official music video for “Titanic,” her solemn duet with Camilo.

Garcia originally released the track, included on her album Mesa Para Dos, three months ago.

The beautifully shot video is set in an empty swimming pool filled with only García and Camilo’s nostalgic lyrics and memories of a relationship that, with time, turned sour as the pair grew apart.

The video was shot in Miami and directed by the Evaluna Montaner, who is a recording artist in her own right.

Montaner previously directed a video featuring her husband Camilo, their honeymoon-inspired clip “Favorito” released in March.

“Titanic,” a timeless ballad with subtle and elegant musical arrangements that allow García and Camilo’s tender vocals to carry the song, wraps up the 10-track set produced by Julio Reyes Copello and features collaborations with Carlos Vives, Reik and Mon Laferte, among others.
