Luis Miguel is headed to Acapulco…

The 53-year-old Puerto Rican-born Mexican singer and record producer, known as El Sol de México, will shine in the emblematic Mexican port.

The superstar will return to one of the most symbolic places of his artistic career as part of his continental Luis Miguel Tour 2023. On December 27, he will land at the GNP Arena in that city, promoters ECO Live and GOJO Live announced in a statement on Thursday.

Luis Miguel will return to the famous beach resort in the state of Guerrero after a five-year hiatus as part of the new dates announced for his 2023 tour. His first stint began on August 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and he’s now added Acapulco, as well as another date in Mayakoba, Riviera Maya, on December 31.

ECO Live and GOJO Live said all information regarding his show in Acapulco “will be communicated soon.” On Wednesday, the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, celebrated the return of the famous performer on her X (formerly Twitter) account.

“In Guerrero the Sun will shine stronger than ever to close 2023 with a bang. It gives me great pleasure to share with you the announcement of the return of @LMXLM in concert in Acapulco,” Salgado Pineda wrote in Spanish.

The Acapulco beach resort became a symbolic place for the “No Sé Tú” singer because of a luxurious mansion that belonged to him in the ’90s located there. Nestled in the exclusive Bonfil Beach, now called Punta Diamante, the house was characterized by its yellow color and huge windows that gave a wonderful view of the beach.

Micky, as he was affectionately known in his adolescence, lived for several years in that mansion in Acapulco, which then became his center of operations, before moving to Los Angeles and later to Miami.

His time in Acapulco was also portrayed in the 2018 Netflix bioseries Luis Miguel: The Series.

Miguel, who has placed 16 titles at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart and nine on Top Latin Albums, reached a new record on July 19 after becoming the Latin American artist with the highest number of songs on the Spotify platform with 23, and more than 100 million streams.

In September, the singer will kick off the North American leg of his CMN-produced tour, visiting key cities such as Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles, before concluding Dec. 31 in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

Following the success of his 2023 continental tour, the superstar announced Monday 50 additional dates for his Luis Miguel Tour 2024.

Luis Miguel Announces 43-Date North & South American Tour

Luis Miguel is hitting the road…

The 53-year-old Mexican singer, known as El Sol de Mexico, has revealed the dates for his 43-date stint in North and South America that will kick off on August 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Luis-MiguelThe trek will visit major cities in the U.S. such as Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles before wrapping up on December 17 in Guadalajara, Mexico. The tour is produced by CMN.

It’s Luis Miguel’s first tour in years. His last tour — México Por Siempre, which ran from 2018 to 2019 — grossed $101.4 million and sold 965,000 tickets across 116 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore.

It was the highest grossing Latin tour in Boxscore history until last year when Bad Bunny‘s El Último Tour del Mundo and World’s Hottest Tour surpassed it.

The anticipation for this trek began when Luis Miguel simply posted on Instagram “Luis Miguel Tour 2023” in February without offering more details.

Whether he’ll drop new music to coincide with the tour is still up in the air.

The elusive artist released ¡MÉXICO Por Siempre! in 2017, which won album of the year at the Latin Grammy Awards.

Luis Miguel is one of Latin music’s biggest star and one of the top vocalists of his generation. The chart-topping artist has notched 16 No. 1 songs on Billboard‘s Hot Latin Songs chart, and nine leaders on the Top Latin Albums tally.

Diego Boneta to Star in Telemundo’s Bio-Musical Series About Luis Miguel

Diego Boneta will be shining bright like a Mexican icon..

The 26-year-old Mexican singer and actor is set to star as Luis Miguel, known as El Sol de México, in the upcoming Telemundo bio-musical series based on the life of the Grammy-winning singer.

Diego Boneta

Boneta is known for roles in television shows like Pretty Little Liars and Ryan Murphy‘s Scream Queens. On the big screen, he appeared opposite Tom Cruise in jukebox musical Rock of Ages.

Boneta recorded two albums in his career, Diego and Indigo

The authorized series based on the life and career of the chart-topping artist will be produced by Gato Grande Productions and will air on Telemundo in 2018, and later streamed via Netflix in Latin America and Spain.

“People will travel alongside with me through a surprising, unexpected and emotional journey that has shaped the artist and the person that I am today,” Luis Miguel said in a statement about the series, which joins other Telemundo biopic productions including Juan Gabriel‘s Hasta Que te Conocí (2016).

MGM Developing TV Series Based on the Life of Luis Miguel

He’s known as El Sol de México, but Luis Miguel’s light could soon shine beyond the Mexican border.

MGM is developing a television series based on the life of the 46-year-old Mexican superstar, an icon in Latin America.

Luis Miguel

The project hails from a Spanish-language joint production venture MGM set with Mexican entrepreneurs Miguel Aleman and Antonio Cue.

Aleman and Cue’s Gato Grande Productions aims to develop content for the worldwide market. Expanding into Spanish-language production has been a goal of Mark Burnett, president of MGM Television and Digital.

“We see the value of premium content for the Spanish-speaking market throughout the world, and we look forward to many additional projects across all platforms that we can now develop with Antonio, Miguel and Gato Grande. This is only the beginning,” Burnett said.

A native of Puerto Rico, Miguel got his start in music as a teenager in the early 1980s, winning a Grammy in 1985 at the age of 14 for his duet with Sheena Easton, “Me Gustas Tal Como Eres.” He has collected another four Grammys to date and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

“It has taken me a long time to want to tell my story and I have been looking for the right team to tell it the way it should be told,” Miguel said.

Aleman is a radio and TV entrepreneur and former Televisa executive. Cue is the grandson of a founder of the Mexican brewery Grupo Modelo and is a former owner of the Major League Soccer team Chivas USA.

“Antonio and I have been looking to get into the content business for some time and after forming a deep personal relationship with Mark, we knew that the timing and opportunity were just right.” said Aleman. “To be able to launch our company Gato Grande with the story of Luis Miguel, one of the most important, legendary talents in music, is very exciting,” added Cue.

Carla Gonzalez Vargas, an author and filmmaker who helmed the 2015 documentary Alivio, will oversee the Miguel series in her role as Gato Grande’s head of development.
