The 34-year-old part-Spanish English singer and dancer has released the hyper-catchy single “Killer.”
“It’s dangerous to be a woman in love,” she sings, meditating on the dive into unknown waters that commitment requires, and the hurt that could result.
Twigs tells her story with delicacy and ample hooks, continuing the winning streak that her Caprisongs mixtape started earlier this year.
“When at its worst the effects of heart break can define one’s trajectory much more than the beauty of the love itself,” says FKA Twigs. “In my song ‘Killer’ I explore this concept. The navigation, the hunt and the kill. The death of promises, dreams and the future that was once promised. But like the wildest plucked roses, I find myself more beautiful delicately wilted, in shadow, forced solace, darkened at the edges and achingly thirsting to be tended to again.
The track was made in collaboration with Jimmy Napes, Amanda Ghost, Jonny Coffer and El Guincho.
The 34-year-old part-Spanish English singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, video director and actress has released her new collaboration-stacked mixtape Caprisongs.
Spanning 17 tracks, the collection is, in FKA Twigs’ own words, the tale of Twigs’ “journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends.”
In a thread announcing her new arrival, she explains how, during lockdown she went in “search for connection” and found “even the most simple conversations incredibly comforting. When I went out I would find myself listening in on other people talking and imagining what it would be like to hang out with those nattering strangers. I loved catching sound bytes.”
Now, “I have fallen back in love with music, danger, trying new things, sex, love, raves,” she continues. The new release is “bronzer in the sink, alco pop on the side, a cherry lolly, apple juice when ur thirsty, friends in the park, your favourite person, that one sentence somebody said to you that changed everything, a club pre game, your bestie who is always late but brings the most to the party, meeting a friend at the airport, just togetherness. My world.”
Guests include Pa Salieu (on “honda”), Daniel Caesar (“careless”), Rema (“jealousy”), Jorja Smith and Unknown T (“darjeeling”), DYSTOPIA (“which way”) and Shygirl (“papi bones”), and The Weeknd, who joins forces with Twigs on the previously-released single “tears in the club”.
Caprisongs is executive produced by Twigs and El Guincho and includes production from Koreless, P2J, Mike Dean, Marius de Vries, Jasper Harris, Teo Halm, Arca, FRED, Psymun, Cirkut, BKay, Reaper, Sega Bodega, Fake Guido, Pau, Felix Joseph, AoD, Jeff Kleinman, Warren Ellis, Jonathan Coffer and BAK.

She also co-directed the accompanying visual with Emmanuel Adjei, which highlights Black models and dancers in utter anguish while encircling Kara Walker‘s Fons Americanus sculpture.
The fountain, inspired by the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace, captures Black people’s historic plight during the transatlantic slave trade and the interconnected suffering endured by Black people from Africa, America and Europe. Twigs herself is flung across rooms and knocked down to the ground in her own twisted choreography.
“So proud to release ‘don’t judge me’ into the world. this project is very personal and special to me,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was an honour to shoot with kara walkers fountain exploring the interconnection of black history between africa, america and europe. thank you to everyone for making don’t judge me come to life.”
FKA twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett) filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf in December over claims of sexual battery and “relentless abuse” during their relationship. She discussed it at length on the Grounded With Louis Theroux podcast Monday and suggested her allegedly abusive relationship didn’t serve as the inspiration for the upcoming third studio album she created during the pandemic.
“I spent so much time in darkness with him that in lockdown I’ve been missing my friends and going out, getting ready, and dancing,” she told Theroux.
During an interview for the Grammy Museum‘s Programs at Home series in October, FKA twigs revealed that she was finishing up her latest album. Her last album, Magdalene, which she released in November 2019, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. She also name-dropped Spanish producer El Guinchoas one of her collaborators on the untitled album, as well as songwriters Billy Walsh and Ali Tamposi.
“I’ve got more collaborations and features on this album than I’ve ever had before,” she added. “The majority of the people I’ve never met in real life. We spent a lot of time with each other over FaceTime. It’s a real product of 2020.”
Karol G is celebrating a big run at the 2020 MTV European Music Awards.
The 29-year-old Colombian singer picked up two awards at the MTV EMAs, the most of any female artist for the night, and the first of her career.
Karol G won in the Best Collaboration category for “Tusa,” her chart-topping predominantly Spanish single, featuring Nicki Minaj.
It’s the second consecutive year the winner in the Best Collaboration category is a Spanish track. Last year’s winner: Rosalia and J Balvin’s “Con Altura,”featuring El Guincho.
Karol G also took home the inaugural Best Latin award. She was the only female nominated in the category, beating out Maluma, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Ozuna and her boyfriend Anuel AA.
Cardi B took home the award for Best Hip Hop.
The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar is only the second female artist to win in that category, following Minaj, a five-time winner in the category.

The 26-year-old Grammy-winning Spanish singer has notched her first chart visit on the Billboard Hot 100, as her Travis Scott collaboration “TKN” arrives at No. 66 on the all-genre chart dated June 13.
Additionally, Rosalia and Scott’s new single debuts at No. 2 on the Hot Latin Songs chart.
“TKN” lands on both charts mostly on the strength of streaming activity. The bilingual track collected 7.3 million U.S. clicks in the week ending June 4, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, which yields a No. 1 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs chart.
“TKN” also registered 5,000 downloads in the week ending May 4, and debuts at No. 1 on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart. It’s the second No. 1 for Rosalia on that list, and first for Scott.
“TKN” marks the highest charting title for Rosalia on Hot Latin Songs. She previously ranked as high as No. 12 with “Yo X Ti, Tú x Mi” with Ozuna (January 11-dated tally), and with her first chart entry, “Con Altura” with J Balvin and El Guincho (chart dated June 29, 2019).
“TKN” is the pair’s second team-up. Their first collaboration arrived through the remix of Scott’s Hot 100 No. 1 “Highest in the Room,” which also features Lil Baby.

The inaugural Latinfest+ also marks the 30th anniversary of Billboard’s Latin Music Conference, the longest-running and biggest Latin music gathering in the world.
Latinfest+ will be an immersive, weeklong experience for the Latin entertainment industry, artists, executives and fans and will include superstar conversations, industry panels and workshops, celebrity fireside chats, live concerts, fan experiences and live activations of some of Billboard’s most celebrated franchises, including On the Riseand Growing Up Latino.
The full-run week of activities culminates with the Billboard Latin Music Awards, which will air live April 23 on Telemundo. Finalists for the awards will be announced in February.
The iHeartRadio Music Awards nominated have been revealed, with the 22-year-old Mexican/Cuban singer picking up six nods, the most of any Latina/o artist.
Cabello earned nods in the Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Lyrics and Best Music Video categories for “Señorita,” her chart-topping collaboration with Shawn Mendes.
Cabello is also up for Best Fan Army, as well as Best Cover Song for her cover of Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved.”

YouTube ha sunveiled its year-end stats, revealing its top global music videos of the year, with seven out of the top 10 clips belonging to or featuring Latino artists.
Daddy Yankee and Snowcrown the list with their emoji-filled dance party “Con Calma,” followed by Rosalíaand J Balvin’s sky-high “Con Altura” featuring El Guincho. Both videos have amassed more than 1 billion views since their release.

In celebration of the first anniversary of her album El Mal Querer, the 26-year-old Spanish singer has released a new song called “A Pale.”
Co-produced by Rosalía, El Guinchoand Frank Dukes, the songs “takes its name from the nearly ubiquitous wooden shipping pallets Rosalía was surrounded by for years growing up in an area outside Barcelona dominated by [the] trucking industry,” a release explains, “but the spirit of the song centers around ‘doing it big’ — our ability to be strong and carry a lot of weight.”
Fittingly, the clip was filmed in a warehouse, and directed by Jora Frantzis.
On “A Pale,” Rosalia fuses her flamenco with contemporary global rhythms, stepping aside from the reggaeton beat from some of her other recent releases, like “Con Altura” with J Balvinand El Guincho and “Yo X Ti, Tu X Mi” with Ozuna.

The Latin boy band is nominated in the Best Push category.
With the EMAs set to take place in Seville, Spain on November 3, MTVunveiled the nominees in key categories with a nod to the traditional Spanish cortado via foam cream visuals.
The awards show will air live on MTV in nearly 180 countries, with the red carpet sponsored by the upcoming Charlie’s Angels film.
