Fuerza Regida Earns Second No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart with Banda MS-Collab “Mentira No Es”

Fuerza Regida is back at the top of the charts…

The Regional Mexican band and Banda MS’ second collaboration “Mentira No Es” has jumped from No. 6 to No. 1 to lead Billboard’s July 29-dated Regional Mexican Airplay chart.

Fuerza Regida & Banda MSPreviously, Banda MS enlisted Fuerza Regida for “Santo Patrón,” which dips 16-39 after reaching No. 13 in June.

“Mentira No Es” rules with 7.5 million audience impressions earned in the week ending July 20, according to Luminate. That’s a 38% gain from the week prior, an increase that secures the track the week’s Greatest Gainer honor.

As the collaboration advances to the top, Banda MS collects its 19th No. 1, and first since “Hay Que Hacer Dinero,” featuring Eden Muñoz, led for a week in July 2022.

Fuerza Regida, meanwhile, captures its second Regional Mexican Airplay No. 1, following the three-week command of “Bebe Dame,” with Grupo Frontera, this March-April.

As “Mentira No Es” grants Banda MS its 19th ruler, the Mazatlán group breaks from a tie with both Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga and Intocable for the second-most No. 1s overall in the list’s history. Only Calibre 50, with 23 champs, claims more.

Elsewhere, “Mentira No Es” vaults 18-6 for a new best on the overall Latin Airplay chart, also the week’s biggest gainer there. The song becomes Banda MS’ 24th top 10 and likewise first since “Hay Que Dinero,” which hit No. 6 last July. The new top 10 is Fuerza Regida’s second, after “Bebe Dame” led for a week in March.

Cazzu Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart with Santa Fe Klan & Los Ángeles Azules Single “Tú y Tú”

It’s a career first for Cazzu…

The 29-year-old Argentine rapper and singer and Santa Fe Klan have each scored their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “Tú y Tú,” with Los Ángeles Azules, rises 3-1 to lead the May 20-dated survey.

CazzuThe new leader yields both Cazzu and Santa Fe Klan’s first champ in their maiden chart appearance.

“Tú y Tú,” released via SeiTrack/Disa/UMLE on March 10, takes over Regional Mexican Airplay in its eighth week after a 28% boost in audience impressions, to 8.5 million, earned in the U.S. during the May 5-11 tracking week, according to Luminate.

As “Tú y Tú” rises to the top of the ranking, Cazzu and Santa Fe Klan become the first artists to claim a No. 1 in their maiden chart performance among the nine tracks that have crowned Regional Mexican Airplay in 2023.

The last artist to pick up a first No. 1 in a first attempt was Mario Bautista, as “Brindo” with Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga led for one week on June 11, 2022.

Previously, Eden Muñoz completed the deed with “Chale!” (May 21, 2022).

“Tú y Tú” ascends 3-1 and sends Grupo Marca Registrada and Grupo Frontera’s “Di Que Sí” to No. 6 after its three-week domination, with a 39% dip in audience (to 5.2 million).

“Tú” also brings Los Ángeles Azules back to No. 1. The cumbia sonidera ensemble last ranked first through the three-week ruler “Nunca Es Suficiente,” with Natalia Lafourcade, in early 2019. In between, the group collected five top 10s, including the No. 2-peaking “Amor a Primera Vista,” with Belinda and Lao Ebratt, featuring Horacio Palencia, in August 2019.

Elsewhere, “Tú” continues its progress on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart, reaching its No. 5 high.

Anuel AA to Perform at This Year’s Latin American Music Awards

Anuel AA is heading to the Latin American Music Awards…

The first wave of performers has been announced for this year’s Latin AMAs, with the 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer among those set to take center stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

Other performers include newlyweds Guaynaa and Lele Pons, who will perform a medley that includes their latest collaboration “Abajito”; Myke Towers, who will perform his newest track “Mi Droga”; and Prince Royce, who will surprise viewers with an unreleased song.

Additionally, Spanish newcomer Bad Gyal and Regional Mexican crooner Eden Muñoz will make their Latin AMAs debut. The former will deliver her single “Chulo,” and the latter will offer his viral solo hit “Chale!”

Nominations for the 2023 awards — based on streaming, sales, radio airplay, tours, and even social media interactions data provided by Billboard and Luminate during the eligibility period (February 12, 2022, through February 4, 2023) — are led by Bad Bunny with 11 nominations. He’s followed by Becky G and Daddy Yankee, each with nine nominations; at eight nods each are Grupo Frontera, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos, and Rosalía.

Meanwhile, Muñoz, Bizarrap, Blessd, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia are nominated in the best new artist category.

Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar will be recognized as 2023 Latin AMAs Legacy honorees. This year’s ceremony will be co-hosted by Galilea Montijo, Julián Gil and Natti Natasha.

For the first time since its debut on October 8, 2015, on Telemundo, the ceremony will be broadcast live simultaneously on Univision, UNIMÁS and Galavisión after TelevisaUnivision acquired the rights from dick clark productions in September.

Bad Bunny Leads Pack of Latin American Music Awards Nominees with 11 Nods

Bad Bunny is the artist to beat at this year’s Latin American Music Awards.

The nominations for the 2023 Latin AMAs have been revealed, with the 29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer leading the pack with 11 nominations, including artist of the year, song of the year and album of the year.

Bad BunnyBad Bunny is still riding high off his Billboard 200 chart-topping album Un Verano Sin Ti and hit single “Me porto bonito.”

Bad Bunny is followed by Becky G and Daddy Yankee, each with nine nominations; and with eight nods each are Grupo Frontera, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos and Rosalía, to name a few.

Additionally, Bizarrap, Blessd, Edén Muñoz, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia are nominated in the best new artist category.

TelevisaUnivision also revealed that Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar will be recognized as 2023 Latin AMAs Legacy honorees.

Penned by renowned singer-songwriter Eden Muñoz and El Fantasma, the main banda rhythm track tells the story of a “crazy lover” who could fall in love with a woman by simply seeing her smile.

The romanticism of both singers makes the song even more special. “A madman in love with her … just a quick smile excites him, and wants to give her his heart,” they sing.

Ángela Aguilar Teams Up with Yuridia for New Single “Qué Agonía”

Ángela Aguilar is agonizing…

The 19-year-old Mexican-American singer has joined voices with Yuridia to release the new single “Qué Agonía.”

Ángela AguilarThe song is the fifth single from Yuridia’s newly released Regional Mexican album, Pa’ Luego Es Tarde, produced by Eden Muñoz.

The track and the album were released on Thursday, October 20.

With beautiful orchestration, and sublime harmonies from the two powerhouses, “Qué Agonía” — written by Aguilar — is a romantic Mexican ballad about being in love long after a breakup.

“The truth is, I didn’t forget you… and although a lot has happened, and life changed for us, the feeling is alive”, they sing.

In the official video, they appear accompanied by an all-female mariachi band, among other musicians.

Yahritza y Su Esencia Sign Worldwide Deal with SESAC Latina

Yahritza Martinez and her brothers are taking their music career to greater heights…

The 15-year-old Mexican singer and her siblings Jairo and Armando Martinez, best known by their group name Yahritza y Su Esencia, have signed a worldwide deal with SESAC Latina.

“We are very excited to welcome Yahritza y Su Esencia to the SESAC Latina family,” Celeste Zendejas, vice president, SESAC Latina, said in a statement. “Their debut single premiered at number one on the Hot Latin Songs Billboard chart, and they are growing into a cultural phenomenon in the Mexican genre. We are honored to be part of their continued success.”

To mark the beginning of their new deal with the performance-rights organization, Yahritza Y Su Esencia — who are signed to indie label Lumbre Music — took the stage to perform “Enamorado” and “Soy El Único” during the 2022 SESAC Latina Music ceremony on June 29.

Yahritza y Su EsenciaTheir partnership with SESAC Latina comes on the heels of the trio’s unprecedented success, which has catapulted them to the top of the Billboard charts.

Earlier this year, the self-taught musicians made history with the sad sierreño anthem “Soy El Unico” as the track scored a No. 20 entry on the Billboard Hot 100, making lead singer Yahritza the youngest Latin performer to enter the all-genre tally.

Additionally, “Soy El Único,” penned by Yahritza at age 13, debuted at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated April 9.

“I don’t write my songs specifically for anyone. I just observe what’s going on around me and I get ideas from it,” she previously told Billboard.

In April, the group — which hails from Yakima, Wash. — dropped their five-track EP, Obsessed, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Albums chart. According to a press release, Yahritza Y Su Esencia is currently working on a full album, set to drop “later this year.”

The Mexican banda group rises to No. 1 for an 18th time on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart with “Hay Que Hacer Dinero,” featuring Eden Muñoz, which rises to the summit on the July 2-dated ranking.

With the new champ, the Sinaloan band breaks from a tie with Banda El Recodo for the second-most No. 1 titles among all acts on Regional Mexican Airplay. Calibre 50 leads the category with 22 leaders. Muñoz, who scored his first No. 1 as a solo act less than two months ago with the three-week ruler “Chale!” (starting with the May 21-dated chart), captures his second.

The push prompts a 23rd top 10 for Banda MS, which now ties with Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizarraga for the third-most, trailing Marco Antonio Solis’ 27 top 10s and Calibre 50’s 25.

 

Elsewhere, “Hay Que Hacer Dinero” debuts at No. 49 on Hot Latin Songs, which blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data. With the new arrival, Banda MS adds a 32nd career entry, while Muñoz his second as a soloist.

It’s a special first for Mario Bautista.

The 26-year-old Mexican artist has claimed his first No. 1 on a Billboard airplay chart as his single “Brindo,” with Banda El Recodo de Cruz de Lizárraga, rises to No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart dated June 11.

“Brindo” posted a 20% gain in audience impressions, to 7.8 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 5, according to Luminate.

It dethrones Eden Muñoz’s “Chale!” after three weeks at No. 1 — the first leader for the singer-songwriter and producer after becoming a solo act.

The original version of “Brindo,” billed solely to Bautista, was released on September 9, 2021.

The regional Mexican collaboration with Banda El Recodo was announced via Twitter in January. The anticipatory buildup likely fueled the remix to debut on Regional Mexican Airplay at No. 40 on the March 26-dated survey.

With the 3-1 lift in its 12th week, Banda El Recodo secures its 17th win and enters a tie with Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga for the second-most leaders, just behind Calibre 50’s 21 No. 1s.

Further, Bautista is the fifth soloist to capture his first No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay in 2022.

Eden Muñoz is preparing for a special performance….

The 31-year-old Mexican singer/songwriter and former Calibre 50 singer will perform at the 2022 SESAC Latina Music Awards, taking place on June 29 in Beverly Hills.

The awards ceremony honors its songwriters and publishers by presenting awards to the most-performed songs of the year, including song of the year, publisher of the year and songwriter of the year for both Regional Mexican and pop/Latin rhythm.

This month, Muñoz hit No. 1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart with his debut solo single “¡Chale!”
