Kid Cudi to Star in the Film Version of HBO’s “Entourage” Series

Kid Cudi has found a new entourage

The 30-year-old part-Mexican American singer-songwriter and actor has been cast in the film version of HBO’s hit series Entourage.

Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, will portray Ari Gold’s (Jeremy Piven) new assistant now that Lloyd (Rex Lee) has moved up to rep.

It’s the latest role on an HBO-based project from Kid Cudi, who previously starred on the cable network’s comedy series How to Make It in America.

He’s about to appear opposite Aaron Paul in the DreamWorks video game adaptation Need For Speed.

Kid Cudi just wrapped the films James White and Two Night Stand.

He’s also set to perform at this year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Bardem to Portray Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes on the Big Screen?

Javier Bardem could soon be experiencing Montezuma’s revenge…

The 44-year-old Spanish Oscar-winning actor has reportedly expressed interest in starring as Spanish explorer and conquistador Hernan Cortes, the man who caused the fall of the Aztec Empire, in the film Montezuma.

Javier Bardem

The film, one of Hollywood’s fabled projects that Steven Spielberg hopes to direct, will be rewritten and produced by Steve Zaillian, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Montezuma, explores the complicated relationship between Cortes and the Aztec emperor Montezuma.

Hernan Cortes

The original script was written in the 1960s by Dalton Trumbo, the screenwriter who was part of the Hollywood Ten and was blacklisted in the 1950s. It was intended to reteam the writer with star Kirk Douglas, who starred in Trumbo’s classic Spartacus.

The project fell by the wayside but now has found a home, decades later, with DreamWorks.

Spielberg has been looking for a project to direct since shelving Robopocalypse last year. He had intended to direct Bradley Cooper in American Sniper but parted ways with Warner Bros. over budgetary differences. (Clint Eastwood is now on board to direct that project, which should shoot this year.)

Spielberg is notorious for developing, some might even say overdeveloping, projects but not pulling the trigger. But Zaillian and Spielberg have a long history, and the two made Schindler’s List into a Oscar-winning hit. It is, however, unclear what other projects Spielberg is developing in addition to Montezuma that might vie for his attention.

Also unclear is where the project will ultimately land. DreamWorks has a first-look deal with Disney and its movies are released under the Touchstone label. Disney will get first crack at the project and if it passes, Fox could be a possible home as Zaillian and his shingle, Film Rites, have their first-look there.

Hayek & Banderas Attend “Puss in Boots” Premiere…

Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas are celebrating a “cinematic Spanish dictatorship”…

During the premiere of Dreamwork’s animated 3-D film, “Puss in Boots”—at what’s been dubbed as the first-ever film premiere on water—the 45-year-old Mexican actress and 51-year-old Spanish actor announced that the movie’s producers had given the popular 17th century French fairy tale a Latin twist, making it much more relevant for multicultural audiences in the United States.

“We killed the French entirely and made it Spanish,” joked Banderas at the red carpet premiere aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship, docked in Fort Lauderdale. “It’s a cinematic Spanish dictatorship.”

In the “prequel” to the highly popular “Shrek” movie franchise, Banderas voices the title feline, while Hayek voice co-adventurer Kitty Softpaws. “Puss in Boots” expands on the role first developed for those movies and predates Puss’ encounter with the jolly green ogre, telling the story of how the oh-so-charming cat became known as a legendary outlaw, notorious fighter and lover.

“I never suspected that the character was going to be a star and have his own movie,” admits Banderas.

The movie opens nationwide on October 28.
