Paramount+ Releases Preview Clip of Fifth & Final Season of Wilson Cruz’s “Star Trek: Discovery”

Wilson Cruz is preparing for one final trip through space…

Paramount+ has released a preview of the upcoming fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 49-year-old Puerto Rican actor.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere in April 2024 on the streamer.

In the new footage, Capt. Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ajala) contend with a massive, hostile alien creature that has the ability to cloak itself.

Per the official logline, Season 5 “will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well … dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it.”

In addition to Martin-Green, Ajala and Cruz, who portrays Dr. Hugh Culber, Star Trek: Discovery also stars Doug Jones (Saru), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Blu del Barrio (Adira) and Callum Keith Rennie (Rayner). Season 5 also features recurring guest stars’ Elias Toufexis (L’ak) and Eve Harlow (Moll).

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Star Trek: Discovery co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Paradise serve as executive producers alongside Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.

Arturo Castro to Star in Rotten Science’s “Operation Taco Gary’s”

Arturo Castro has joined a new operation…

The 37-year-old Guatemalan actor has joined the cast of Operation Taco Gary’s.

Castro joins a roster of new cast additions that includes Dustin Milligan, Brenda Song, Tony Cavalero, Jason Biggs and Doug Jones.

They join previously announced cast member Simon Rex.

Written and directed by Michael Kvamme, the film from Rotten Science tells the story of Danny (Rex), an off-the-grid conspiracy theorist takes his estranged brother, Luke (Milligan), on a road trip with a secret agenda. Details as to the characters to be played by our other new cast members haven’t been disclosed.

“We’re so lucky to have Dustin joining our film to play Luke,” said writer-director Kvamme. “He’s compelling to watch and someone whom the audience will certainly relate with. We’ve been able to assemble a remarkable ensemble who we think will yield the best possible version of Operation Taco Gary’s.”

Castro has appeared on series like Mr. Corman, Broad City and Narcos, and in films like The Menu, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Yes Day and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, to name a few. He’ll next appear in Prime Video’s Road House reimagining with Jake Gyllenhaal, among other projects.

Part of the cast of HBO’s televangelist family comedy series The Righteous Gemstones, which just recently returned for its third season, Calavero has also been seen on The Conners, Miracle Workers and more. His credits in film include The Binge and sequel It’s A Wonderful Binge, as well as Netflix’s Mötley Crüe film The Dirt, which had him playing Ozzy Osbourne.

Wilson Cruz is heading into the unknown…

Paramount+ has released the official trailer for season four of Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 47-year-old Puerto Rican actor.

After Season 3 finds the U.S.S. Discovery crew in an unknown future far from the home they once knew, the space explorers encounter an unpredictable gravitational anomaly that could bring their journey to an end.

Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.

“We’re all living in uncertainty. Even for a crew as familiar with it as this one, the stress is taking its toll,” Sonequa Martin-Green’s Commander Burnham says. “But we are not in this alone, none of us are.”

From total destruction to parts of the U.S.S. Discovery to the loss of beloved crew members, the Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 teaser hints at an enemy that’s larger than anyone aboard the spaceship.

To face the invisible adversary that comes without “any kind of warning at all,” Commander Burnham says it’s imperative that everyone band together to retain hope and escape the unknown.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 will premiere on Paramount+ in 2021 and also features Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, David Ajala, Blu del Barrio and Ian Alexander.

The sci-fi series streams exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S., and the series is distributed concurrently by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group on Netflix in 190 countries and in Canada on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and streams on Crave.

The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment.

CBS All Access Renews Wilson Cruz’s “Star Trek: Discovery” for Fourth Season

There’s more trekkin’ in Wilson Cruz’s future…

A day after its Season 3 premiere, CBS All Access announced it has renewed Star Trek: Discovery, starring the 46-year-old Puerto Rica actor, for a fourth season.

Production is set to begin on November 2.

In a video clip, stars Sonequa Martin-Green and Doug Jones and executive producers/co-showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise share the news as they prepare to head back to work amid strict COVID-19 protocols.

In Season 3, after following Commander Burnham (Martin-Green) into the wormhole in the second-season finale, the 13-episode third season finds the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery landing in an unknown future far from the home they once knew. Now living in a time filled with uncertainty, the Discovery crew, along with the help of some new friends, must work together to restore hope to the Federation.

Cruz, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman and David Ajala also star in the Emmy-winning sci-fi drama series.

Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on CBS All Access, which will rebrand as Paramount+ next year.

Fox Searchlight to Release del Toro’s Cold War Drama “The Shape of Water” in December

Guillermo del Toro is getting in Shape for December…

Fox Searchlight will release the 52-year-old Mexican filmmaker’s Cold War drama The Shape of Water on December 8, right in the wheelhouse of the annual film awards season.

The fantasy adventure film, which has been mostly shrouded in secrecy stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones, Lauren Lee Smith, Michael Stuhlbarg and Octavia Spencer.

Fox Searchlight describes the film as “an other-wordly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Her life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.”

The experiment apparently is an “aquatic man,” played by Jones, a frequent del Toro collaborator who has appeared in the writer-director’s Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy movies, as well as his FX series The Strain.

del Toro directs from the script he wrote with Vanessa Taylor.

del Toro Eyeing Benedict Cumberbatch for “Frankenstein” Role

Guillermo del Toro has set his sites on a Star Trek-sized leading man for his next big project…

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 48-year-old Mexican filmmaker divulged that he’d like to direct British actor Benedict Cumberbatch in his reimaging of Frankenstein, which is currently slated for release in 2015.

Cumberbatch recently garnered rave reviews for his portrayal of Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness, in which he starred opposite Zoë Saldaña.

del Toro’s Frankenstein project has been in the works since 2009, and he hasn’t attached any cast yet. Considering that he’s wanted Hellboy actor Doug Jones to play the monster for years, Cumberbatch would most likely portray Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the role he already played in the 2011 stage production of Frankenstein directed by Danny Boyle.

del Toro will work with Cumberbatch in Crimson Peak, the upcoming horror thriller from Universal Pictures. Set for release in April 2015, the film will also star Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska.

del Toro is currently busy promoting Pacific Rim, which opened this Friday, on July 12.
