It appears that Andrew Sotomayor may soon become the Tim Gunn of the beauty world…
The Mexican-American celebrity makeup artist will be participating in iVillage’s first competition web series, DIY Beautify, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The style-based series, which embraces a “how to” concept, will showcase two women competing against each other as they apply new makeup techniques they are taught during the show.
Sotomayor— who has worked with the likes of Kerry Washington, Alicia Silverstone, Nina Garcia and other A-list celebrities—will serve as a mentor and teach techniques to the participating women. Contestants will range in age from 21-35.
Former Real Housewives of New York City cast member Kelly Killoren Bensimon will serve as a judge alongside Pat Sandora, the host of the iVillage entertainment series Likes or Yikes. They will choose winners based on their progress and execution.
“We created DIY Beautify based on the increasing popularity of iVillage’s how-to videos, and the fact that our research tells us our audience is hungry for inspiration they can use right now,” said Jodi Kahn, president of iVillage in a statement. “Beauty is a multi-billion dollar industry for the simple reason that women want to look and feel their best. As a trusted source to millions of women, iVillage can authentically deliver tips in a relatable and entertaining way, while offering brands an organic platform to reach a key audience.”
DIY Beautify officially launches on iVillage on October 1.
