Bella Thorne’s “Amityville: The Awakening” to be Available Free on Google Play

After its release date was shifted four times, Weinstein Co./Dimension Films/Blumhouse Production’s Amityville: The Awakening, starring the 19-year-old half-Cuban American actress, will now be available for free exclusively on Google Play from October 12 to November 8.

In addition, Amityville will receive a limited theatrical release on October 28.

The movie stars Thorne, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jennifer Morrison, and Cameron Monaghan and was written and directed by Franck Khalfoun.

In the movie, Belle (Thorne) and her family encounter a strange phenomena when they move into their new house. Belle begins to suspect her mother (Leigh) isn’t telling her everything. It’s then that she soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house where between illusion and reality lies evil.

Hayek’s “Everly” to Have Its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest

The 48-year-old Mexican actress’ action thriller Everly from Radius-TWC will make its world premiere this month at Fantastic Fest, the genre fest that takes place in Austin, Texas.

Directed by Joe Lynch from a script by Yale Hannon, the film centers on Hayek’s character. She’s described as a down-on-her-luck woman forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter.

Joining Hayek’s film in Austin will be Blumhouse Productions and MGM/Orion’s horror remake The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Radius-TWC’s horror film It Follows, Picturehouse’s The Guest, and Dimension/Radius’ Daniel Radcliffe starrer Horns.

The annual festival runs September 18-26 out of the Alamo Drafthouse theaters, which this year will simultaneously screen its opening night film, Kevin Smith’s Tusk with Genesis Rodriguez, and the world premiere of anthology The ABCs Of Death 2 in all Drafthouse markets nationwide along with Q&As live-streamed into theaters and online.

Alba’s voice is the first you hear in the clip, which sees the town’s most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants.

“This Rotten Town, it soils everybody. Everybody,” says Alba, who returns as exotic dancer and revenge seeker Nancy Callahan for the prequel to 2005’s Sin City.

In addition to Alba, the film also stars Rosario Dawson, Callie Hernandez, Mickey Rourke, Eva Green, Juno Temple, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lady Gaga.

Dimension Films recently released the trailer at Comic-Con in San Diego, which features Alba getting in touch with her dark side.

Alba is reprising her role as exotic dancer and revenge seeker Nancy Callahan in the film.

“I just really connected with the dark side of Nancy,” says Alba of her return to the role. “It was hard to detach from that until the movie was over.”

The original Sin City hit theaters in 2005, and in the nine years since Rodriguez and Miller have added more crispness to the series’ black-and-white comic book aesthetic.

The hyper-stylized and ultra-violent footage for the second film, which opens in theaters on August 22, definitely caught the attention of Comic-Con attendees.

In the trailer, Alba appears back on the bar, shaking her groove thing the same way she did in 2005. But there are also snippets of her smashing her face against a back-stage mirror and more, leaving audiences intrigued.

The ultra-violent action crime thriller and sequel to the 2005 cult classic – adapted from Miller’s neo-noir graphic novels – weaves two Sin City stories together into one hard-boiled narrative pitting the city’s thugs, lowlifes and femme fatales against each other, with a cast that includes Alba, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Juno Temple, Jaime King, Jamie Chung, Dennis Haysbert and more.

Nine years later, Alba is back in the follow-up film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. And, if the just-released trailer is any indication, she could win another MTV Movie Award.

The film, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, is primarily based on the second neo-noir graphic novel in the Sin City series by Miller.

In addition to Alba, the film also sees the return of original cast members Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis.

Newcomers to the sequel include Eva Green, Josh Brolin, Jamie Chung, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Meloni, Lady Gaga and Jeremy Piven.

Dimension Films will release the film on August 22, 2014.

Dimension Films and Radius-TWC Have Acquired Rights to Hayek’s Action Thriller “Everly”

She portrayed in dastardly drug lord in Oliver Stone’s Savages… But now Salma Hayek’s switching sides.

Dimension Films and Radius-TWC have acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the 47-year-old Mexican actress’ intense action thriller Everly.

Directed by Joe Lynch from a script by Yale Hannon, the film centers in Hayek’s character. She’s described as a down-on-her-luck woman forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter.

Togo Igawa, Masashi Fujimoto and Hiroyuki Watanabe also star in Everly, which is slated for a fourth quarter 2014 release.

“We’ve been on the hunt for a female driven action franchise and we’ve finally found it in Everly,” said Radius co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego. “Salma is utterly transcendent.”

It’s the latest project from the Oscar-nominated actress to make headlines in recent days.

Hayek previously signed on to star opposite Shohreh Aghdashloo in the thriller The Septembers of Shiraz, the film adaptation of a Dalia Sofer novel.

Amenábar’s Next Thriller “Regression” to Star Emma Watson

The 41-year-old Chilean-Spanish Oscar-winning filmmaker will direct Harry Potter franchise alum Emma Watson in the thriller Regression.

Amenábar, who rose to acclaim after making the Spanish-language sci-fi film Abre los ojos, wrote the original screenplay for The Weinstein CompanyDimension Films project.

The storyline for Regression is being kept under wraps, but the film is being described as an “elevated suspense thriller.”

As previously reported, Ethan Hawke will star in the Regression, which has been slated for release in 2015.

Amenábar’s previous projects include The Sea Inside, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2004.

Gutiérrez Signs with William Morris Endeavor

F. Javier Gutiérrez has new representation…

The 39-year-old Spanish filmmaker has signed with William Morris Endeavor (WME).

Gutiérrez, one of the most awarded and heralded fantasy genre filmmakers in his native country, recently landed the job directing the reboot of the James O’Barr cult fanboy classic The Crow at Relativity Media.

Gutierrez, who has been repped at Paradigm, previously wrote and directed the Spanish-language thriller Before the Fall, a film that won Best Motion Picture and Best Screenplay at the Malaga Film Festival.

In addition, Gutierrez is set to produce the sci-fi project The Greys for Dimension Films, as well as produce House Of Horror with James Wan, currently in production at Dimension Films.

It’s official… Jessica Alba will be starring in the sequel to Frank Miller’s Sin City

Dimension Films, the company that will distribute the film in the United States, has confirmed that the 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress will be returning to reprise her role as Nancy Callahan in the sequel.

Directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller, Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will be a prequel and sequel with interlinking stories both before and after the first film, according to Miller.

Along with Alba, Mickey Rourke is expected to return to reprise his role in the sequel. Rodriguez has said the cast will be “of the same caliber and eclecticism” as that of the previous film.

Sin City, which opened to wide critical and commercial success, grossed $74.1 million in North American and $84.6 million overseas, for a worldwide total from theater receipts of $158.7 million.

Production is set to begin later this summer at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin.
