Ralph Barbosa is preparing to treat fans to a little laughter this Halloween.
Netflix has set a Halloween global premiere for the 26-year-old Latino comedian’sRalph Barbosa: Cowabunga, its first special from the rising star.
The special was shot in August as part of his ongoing North American tour.
The hour-long special, taped at The Kessler Theater in Barbosa’s hometown of Dallas, premieres globally on Tuesday, October 31st.
At Netflix, Barbosa joins the likes of Matt Rife, Jamie Demetriou and Luenell, comics who have likewise closed deals for forthcoming specials with the streamer. The impending arrival of Barbosa’s special is just the latest in a whirlwind year for the comic, who made his debut on The Tonight ShowStarring Jimmy Fallonin January. His new hour offers a glimpse into the world of this gamer as he shares stories of growing up with his grandparents, running a hair cutting business out of his bedroom as a 13-year-old, why he asked his dad if he needed to go to the moon to return moon rocks and his fantasy of being passenger prince to his street-racing dream girl.
Eric Abrams directed the special, with Barbosa executive producing alongside Rotten Science’s Matthew Vaughan and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Zack Waxenberg.
Known for his disarming, laid-back style of stand-up, Barbosa’s recent short set for the digital series Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring has topped 3.5 million views on YouTube. The comic currently selling out venues across North America also last November teamed with Gwen La Roka on the HBO Max comedy special, Entre Nos: The Winners 3, after winning the Latino Stand-Up! Comedy Competition presented by The New York Latino Film Festival and HBO Latino in 2021.

The 52-year-old rapper, whose real name is Joseph Antonio Cartagena, will host this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards, slated for October 4 at the Cobb Energy Centre in Atlanta.
“This will be the BIGGEST award show in history,” Fat Joe tells Billboard. “It’s truly an honor to host and produce the BET Hip Hop Awards, and I can’t thank Connie [Orlando] and the entire BET family enough for this opportunity. We’re going to celebrate music, culture, and entertainment, honor the biggest and brightest stars in the world and make this an unforgettable night full of laughs and surprises. Always remember that yesterday’s host is not today’s host.”
“Fat Joe is hip-hop royalty. He has represented the art form and the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop, throughout his outstanding musical career. He is a treasured friend of the network, and we’ve loved seeing and supporting his evolution to becoming the superstar he is today,” adds Orlando, EVP, specials, music programming & music strategy at BET. “We can’t wait to watch him take the stage with his vivacious energy, standing together with today’s hottest and beloved hip-hop stars.”
In August, Joe announced his one-man stand-up show, which will highlight his life and career. The show is set to debut in New York City this fall. Paul Rodriguez is paying tribute to America’s dad…
The 67-year-old Mexican-American actor and stand-up comedian will appear in Netflix’s Dirty Daddy: A Tribute to Bob Saget, a special that celebrates his life and legacy.
The new Netflix special arrives five months after the comedy world lost the Full House star and stand up comedian.
“Bob wasn’t something that was taken away from us — he was something that was given to us,” says the trailer for the special.
The special will launch on Friday, June 10, on the streamer.
Saget died January 9 in an Orlando hotel room not long after a stand-up performance. His death at 65 rocked Hollywood and led to an outpouring of tributes, along with the farewell show at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood where Dirty Daddy was filmed.

His widow Kelly Rizzo-Saget and their daughters Lara and Aubrey Saget also are set.
In the trailer, Rizzo-Saget steps to the stage and says, “The most important thing to him was belonging to this club, to this group, to being a comedian.” Carrey adds: “You created a cathedral of f*cking love, Bob Saget.”
