Wilmer Valderrama Becomes Shareholder of IHeartMedia’s My Cultura Podcast Network

Wilmer Valderrama is taking on more responsibility…

The 42-year-old Venezuelan and Colombian American actor has expanded his role with My Cultura Podcast Network from iHeartMedia by becoming a shareholder.

Wilmer ValderramaIn addition, Valderrama will help to curate the network’s slate of Latinx-focused podcasts and has committed to five new shows that will be executive produced by and/or star him.

According to the company, monthly podcast downloads across My Cultura have more than doubled since the beginning of the year, with 9 in 10 of the network’s total downloads coming from listeners aged 18-49.

“Representation shapes not just how others see us, but also how we see ourselves. It is imperative that every facet of our media includes narratives that uplift Latino and Hispanic voices,” Valderrama tells Deadline in an exclusive statement. “At WV Entertainment it is our mission to not just choose purposeful projects that accurately represent the stories of the Latinx community but to also make sure these stories are accessible to everyone. Valderrama’s relationship with My Cultura began in the Summer of 2021 with the launch of his podcast, Essential Voices with Wilmer Valderrama.

The weekly interview series, executive produced by Valderrama and Leo Klemm via his production banner WV Entertainment and Clamor, features conversations with people in the front line of food service, transportation, child-care, and other systems where workers’ voices are often overlooked.

Dania Ramirez to Star in Netflix’s DC Vertigo Comic-Based Series “Sweet Tooth”

The 40-year-old Dominican actress and Devious Maids star will star in Sweet ToothNetflix’s new drama series based on the DC Vertigo comic.

Ramirez will be part of the series’ core cast of series regulars, which includes Christian ConveryNonso Anozie and Adeel AkhtarWill Forte has a recurring role, while James Brolin serves as the series’ narrator.

The eight-episode Sweet Tooth follows the adventures of Gus (Convery) — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

Ramirez will reportedly play Aimee, a pioneer in the middle of dystopic America, a lone scavenger in an abandoned city, rebuilding a sustainable habitat and giving orphaned hybrids a home.

The project hails from Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team DowneyJim MickleBeth Schwartz and Warner Bros. Television.

Along with fellow new Netflix series Cowboy Bebop, Sweet Tooth was among of a handful of Hollywood television series and movies to be granted border exemptions by the New Zealand government several weeks ago, a crucial step for any overseas production to be able to film in the country, which has largely eradicated COVID-19.

The tentative plan is for the cast to travel to New Zealand in August, where they’ll self-isolate for two weeks ahead of a potential September 7 start of production, according to Deadline.com.

She previously starred on Marc Cherry’s Lifetime series Devious  Maids and had major roles on ABC’s Once Upon a Time and NBC’s Heroes

The CW has moved up the scheduled debut of the first season of the 40-year-old Dominican American actress’ psychological thrilleranthology series Tell Me a Story.

Instead of opening in the fall, the CW will debut the first 10-episode season of the CBS All Access series to this summer, with the series debuting on Tuesday, July 28 at 9:00 pm ET.

Tell Me a Story takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller. 

Set in modern-day New York City, the first season of this serialized drama interweaves The Three Little PigsLittle Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge, and murder. 

In addition to Ramirez, who portrays Hannah Perez, the first season also stars James WolkBilly Magnussenand Zabryna Guevara.

Since the network acquired two seasons of Tell Me a Story, the CW will have enough episodes to continue running through the series through the fall. 

The 10-episode second season, set in Nashville, Tennessee, reimagines the princess-themed tales Beauty and the BeastSleeping Beauty and Cinderella.It stars 35-year-old half-Cuban American actress Odette Annable as Madelyn “Maddie” Pruitt, as well as Paul Wesleyand Danielle Campbell.

CBS All Access has ordered a second season of its psychological thriller drama series Tell Me a Story, starring the 39-year-old Dominican actress and former Devious Maids star.

From Kevin Williamson and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, the Williamson-helmed series is based on a Spanish format. It takes the world’s most beloved fairy tales and reimagines them as a dark and twisted psychological thriller.

Set in modern-day New York City, the first season of the serialized drama co-stars Billy Magnussen and James Wolk and interweaves “The Three Little Pigs,” “Little Red Riding Hood” and “Hansel and Gretel” into an epic and subversive tale of love, loss, greed, revenge and murder.

The Season 1 cast also includes Danielle Campbell, Dorian Missick, Michael Raymond-James, Davi Santos, Sam Jaeger, Zabryna Guevara with Paul Wesley and Kim Catrall.

It’s unclear which of the actors will return for the second installment of the anthology series.

“The first season of Tell Me a Story turned conventional fairy tales on their heads, interweaving and modernizing three classic stories into a compelling thriller for today’s audiences, in a way only Kevin Williamson can,” said Julie McNamara, EVP Original Content at CBS All Access. “We can’t wait to surprise and entertain viewers with a whole new set of tales next season.”

The first seven episodes of Tell Me a Story’s rookie season are available for streaming on CBS All Access. New episodes are available on demand weekly on Thursdays, exclusively for CBS All Access subscribers. The Season 1 finale will be available on January 3.

Santos will play Gabe, a damaged and vulnerable young man with abandonment issues. When his sister Hannah (Dania Ramirez), his only family, enlisted in the Army, Gabe found himself lost in a lifestyle filled with sex and drugs in an attempt to shut out his reality. But when he finds himself in an irrevocable situation, he turns to his sister for help and they both embark on a deadly chase for survival.

He joins a cast that also includes James WolkDanielle Campbell and Paul Wesley.

Liz Friedlander directs and executive produces the first two episodes.

Santos, who played Ivan in Power Rangers Dino Charge, most recently recurred on Law & Order: True Crime and guest-starred on Will & Grace.

Dania Ramirez to Star on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”

The 37-year-old Dominican actress and Devious Maids alum has been cast as a series regular on ABC’s Once Upon A Time for the upcoming seventh season.

Ramirez’s character details are being kept under wraps at the moment.

The addition of Ramirez follows the exodus of original cast members Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas, Emilie de Ravin, Jared S. Gilmore, Jennifer Morrison and Rebecca Mader at the end of Season 6, and set the stage for the planned “reset” of Season 7.

The new season will focus on returning cast members Lana Parrilla, Robert Carlyle and Colin O’Donoghue, along with The Walking Dead‘s Andrew J. West, who was introduced in the Season 6 finale.

Once is set in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, whose residents are characters from various fairy tales transported to the “real world” town and robbed of their original memories by a powerful curse. It premiered in 2011 to 12.8 million total viewers and a 4.0 demo rating, making it the highest-rated drama series premiere that season, but ratings in the past few seasons have declined. Its Season 6 ender (0.9/3) set a finale low for the series.

Ramirez’s previous television credits include Entourage, Heroes and The Sopranos.

Lifetime Renews Sanchez’s “Devious Maids” for Fourth Season

Lifetime has picked up Devious Maids, starring the 42-year-old actress/singer for a fourth season.

The announcement comes a month after the soapy mystery drama finished airing its third season.

Devious Maids‘ third season launched with 1.47 million viewers in Live+Same Day and ended with a 1.53 million. Additionally, the series wrapped the season with an uptick, hitting season highs with the last two episodes (1.52 million, 1.53 million).

In addition to total viewers, the August 24 finale also logged season highs among adults 25-54 and women 25-54.

Devious Maids, from ABC Studios and executive producers Marc Cherry and Eva Longoria, stars Sánchez, Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Judy Reyes, Rebecca Wisocky and Susan Lucci.

It’s set in a world where murder and mayhem collide in the mansions of Beverly Hills’ wealthiest and most powerful families.

Inspired by the hit telenovela, Ellas son… la alegría del hogar, Devious Maids was created by Cherry.

Ramirez to Star in Canadian Pay TV Movie “First Response”

Dania Ramirez is heading to the Great White North…

The 34-year-old Dominican actress and Devious Maids star has signed on to star in the Canadian pay television movie First Response.

From indie producer Incendo, the thriller will feature Ramirez in the lead role as a veteran paramedic who, along with her partner, is hijacked and forced to tend to a gunman’s life-threatening wound.

Ramirez earned acclaim with earlier roles in Premium Rush, American Pie 4 and The Sopranos.

First Response also stars the Canadian actor Kristopher Turner.

The pay television movie for Canadian broadcaster Bell Media will be directed by Philippe Gagnon and shoot in Montreal.

Through its joint venture with 20th Century Fox International Television, Incendo is also Canada’s largest TV distributor.
