Miguel is asking, “How many?”
The 30-year-old part-Mexican American Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has posteda a new a song on SoundCloud called “How Many,” commenting on the recent horrific murders of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and the Dallas Shooting.
Miguel’s new track features heartfelt lyrics, including, “I’m tired of human lives turned into hashtags and prayer hands…” and “I wonder how many black lives, how many heartbeats turned into flat lines…”.
The song was written “between the hours of 4am and 7am” in his London hotel room, says Miguel. The singer explains he’ll be updating the song every week until its finished.
