CBS Renews Rodriguez’s “Criminal Minds” for a 13th Season

There’s more crime activity in Adam Rodriguez’s future…

CBS has picked up veteran crime drama Criminal Minds, starring the 42-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actor, for a 13th season.

Criminal Minds, from ABC Studios and CBS Studios, averages respectable 10.8 million viewers (Live+Same Day). Its Live+7 adults 18-49 tally (2.4) is the third-highest for a CBS non-sports program.

After a major cast overhaul in the past year, with the departure of Shemar Moore, the shocking exit of Thomas Gibson, the return of Paget Bewster, the promotion of Aisha Tyler and the addition of Rodriguez, as Luke Alvez, and Damon Gupton, there are no major changes planned for next season, with the cast expected to return. That includes veterans Joe Mantegna, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook and Kirsten Vangsness.

Rodriguez previously starred on CBS’ long-running series CSI: Miami.

Nolasco to Star in ABC’s FBI Crime Drama Pilot “Deception”

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American actor has been cast as a series regular opposite Lenora Crichlow and Jack Cutmore-Scott in ABC pilot Deception, an FBI crime drama procedural.

In Deception, when his career is ruined by scandal, superstar magician Cameron Black (Cutmore-Scott) has only one place to turn to practice his art of deception, illusion, and influence — the FBI. He’ll become the world’s first consulting illusionist, helping the government solve crimes that defy explanation, and trap criminals and spies by using deception.

Nolasco will play Mike Alvarez, a classic FBI agent and, secretly, a huge fan of magic.

Deception hails from Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak and the Blindspot team of creator Martin Gero and magician David Kwong, Warner Bros. Television and Greg Berlanti’s studio-based Berlanti Productions. The pilot was written by Chris Fedak and will be directed by David Nutter.

Nolasco is currently reprising his role of Fernando Sucre in Fox’s Prison Break event series. His other television credits include appearances on George Lopez, Mind of Mencia, CSI: Miami, Gang Related and Telenovela.

Diaz to Star in VHI’s Scripted Hip-Hop Series “The Breaks”

Melonie Diaz has landed a real Break

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican actress has joined the cast of VH1’s The Breaks, the network’s new scripted series based on its critically acclaimed hit film that aired earlier this year.

Diaz will portray a new character in the series. She’ll play Damita Alonzo, a writer for a hip New York weekly.

Diaz joins a cast that includes Sinqua WallsAli Ahn, Afton Willamson, Wood Harris, Mack Wilds, Antoine Harris, David Call and Evan Handler.

Inspired by Dan Charnas’ book The Big Payback, a narrative history of the hip-hop business, The Breaks is written, directed and executive produced by Seith Mann with a story by Mann and Charnas.

The film followed three young friends fulfilling their hip hop dreams in New York City in 1990. The series will continue to explore their triumph and heartbreak trying to make their mark in a new and complex hip hop culture.

Diaz’s previous television credits include appearances on Girls, Person of Interest and CSI: Miami.

Garcia to Star on AMC’s “Fear The Walking Dead”

Danay Garcia is extra Fear-full these days…

The 32-year-old Cuban actress has been cast on AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead.

Garcia, who appeared on Fox‘s drama series Prison Break, will portray Lucia, a solider who is connected with a religious group that see the walkers as part of an evolution.

“It’s not a normal job, it’s a Fear The Walking Dead job,” said Garcia alum of what it was like to join the show to big laughs from the crowd.

The second half of the series current season will debut on Sunday, August 21 and will feature a separated group still in Mexico with some religious groups embracing the walkers and road gangs wrecking bloodthirsty havoc in the anarchy of a society that has fallen apart.

“For the first time we are going to see our characters really having to learn to survive in the apocalypse,” says executive producer Dave Erickson. “We are going to see a level of intensity and violence in the back half that we haven’t seen before,” the showrunner added.

Having premiered to record breaking ratings on August 23 last year with a six-episode run, FearTWD saw its second 15-episode season start on April 10 and went on midseason break on May 22. The series was renewed for a third season on April 15.

Garcia’s credits include appearances on CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, The Cleaner and Supernatural.

Rodriguez to Appear Opposite Gina Rodriguez on the CW’s “Jane the Virgin”

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor has landed a guest-starring role on the CW’s Jane the Virgin.

Rodriguez, who will appear on several episodes of Empire this season,

will recur on network’s telenovela-based comedy as Jonathan, Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) very critical writing professor who doesn’t believe in coddling students. Complications, naturally, ensue.

“In the writers room, we broke this arc with Adam in mind and we are all so thrilled to have him,” said Jane the Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman in a statement. “Wahooo!”

But Rodriguez, who recently starred on the big screen in Magic Mike XXL, has been tapped for another project this season…

He’s set to direct episode 12 of Scorpion’s sophomore season.

CBS Television Studios, which produces both series, has a longstanding relationship with the actor. He starred on CSI: Miami for 10 years, during which time he wrote and directed two episodes. He most recently starred in the studio’s summer legal drama Reckless.

Rodriguez’s other credits include Roswell, Ugly Betty and The Night Shift.

Jane the Virgin’s new season premieres Monday, October 12 at 9 pm ET on The CW.

Scorpion airs Mondays at 10 p.m. on CBS.

La Rue to Star on Netflix’s “Fuller House”

La Rue, best known for her roles as Dr. Maria Santos on All My Children and Detective Natalia Boa Vista on CSI: Miami, took to Twitter to announce that she’ll portray Danny’s wife Teri on the Netflix revival of the iconic television series Full House.

“Playing Danny Tanner’s new wife Teri :-),” she wrote.

Teri has been described as a 40-year-old African-American woman who is “attractive, vivacious … and youthful.” She also has “quite an appetite for Danny and isn’t afraid to shower him with affection,” hinting at a possible PDA between Bob Saget‘s character and his young wife.

Rodriguez to Appear on Fox’s Hip-Hop Drama “Empire”

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor and former CSI: Miami star has joined the cast of the second season of Fox’s hip-hop drama Empire in a recurring role.

Rodriguez will play Laz Delgado, a smooth-talking concert promoter with expert hustler skills. Laz is a native New Yorker and former EMT who takes an interest in Cookie.

Rodriguez joins previously announced guest stars Chris Rock, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Ne-Yo.

As previously reported, Season Two premieres September 23 at 9:00 pm on Fox.

Best known for his role as Eric Delko on CSI: Miami, Rodriguezhas a recurring role on the medical drama The Night Shift and will next be seen in Magic Mike XXL opposite Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello.

Rodriguez Lands Lead Male Role in ABC’s Drama Pilot “Runner”

The 39-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor and CSI: Miami alum has landed the male lead role opposite Paula Patton in ABC’s drama pilot Runner.

Based on the Turkish series Son and directed by Michael Offer, the project, from 20th Century Fox Television and ABC Studios, centers on Lauren Marks (Patton), a wife and mother who had believed her husband had died in a plane crash, only to discover him alive, well and traveling with a mysterious woman who uses Lauren’s stolen identity. Thrown into a world of secrets and crime, Lauren finds herself running into Mexican cartels and people from her past she had hoped to forget.

Rodriguez plays Troy, who is hated by Lauren’s family as he is responsible for the death of her nephew years ago but may be the only person who can help Lauren find her husband.

The project was written by Michael Cooney.

Rodriguez has a recurring role on NBC’s The Night Shift and next reprises his role in the Magic Mike XXL sequel this summer.

Cibrian to Star Opposite Monica Potter in NBC Comedy Pilot

Eddie Cibrian may soon make his return to the Peacock Network

The 41-year-old Cuban American actor, who rose to acclaim on NBC’s crime drama series Third Watch for five seasons, has been cast as one of the male leads in the network’s multi-camera comedy pilot starring Parenthood alumna Monica Potter.

The project, from creators Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, Warner Bros. Television and Ellen DeGeneres’ studio-based A Very Good Production, is loosely based on Potter’s life and stars the actress as Bridget, a woman who juggles her busy family life as well as her three ex-husbands, which proves to be difficult when she starts dating again.

Cibrian will portray Jason, Bridget’s first ex-husband, a slick professional gambler.

Cibrian’s other credits include Sunset Beach, Invasion and CSI: Miami.

Warner Bros. Releases Teaser for Rodriguez’s Male Stripper Drama Sequel “Magic Mike XXL”

Adam Rodriguez is ready to pound the flesh… or at least expose it… once again…

Warner Bros. has released a new teaser trailer for Magic Mike XXL, featuring the return of the 39-year-old Puerto Rican/Cuban-American actor and CSI: Miami alum.

The film is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2012’s male strip club drama. In addition to Rodriguez, who returns as Tito, Magic Mike XXL sees the return of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Kevin Nash.

New cast members include Elizabeth Banks, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Strahan, plus others.

Gregory Jacobs directs the film, taking the reigns from Steven Soderbergh.

Matthew McConaughey, Olivia Munn and Alex Pettyfer will not be returning.

The trailer has already garnered 2.7 million views on YouTube since its release.

Magic Mike XXL hits theaters on July 1.
