It’s an especially SweetSexy first for Kehlani…
The 21-year-old part-Spanish singer has notched her first No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart as SweetSexySavage debuts atop the list dated February 18 with 58,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending February 2 (32,000 in traditional album sales), according to Nielsen Music.
It’s her second chart entry, following the mixtape You Should Be Here, which debuted and peaked at No. 5 in 2015.
Over on Hot R&B Songs chart, the release of the album pushes the album’s song “Distraction” back onto the chart at No. 13 (reaching a new peak). It collected 3.6 million streams in the most recent tracking week (a 193 percent increase), with 34 percent coming from Spotify plays. The track previously spent two weeks on the chart in December (peaking at No. 20) following the release of the music video on November 22.
Meanwhile, the set’s lead single “CRZY” returns at No. 14 (it peaked at No. 11 on the Nov. 26 chart), due in part to 3.9 million weekly streams (up 80 percent). Album track “Keep On” rounds out Kehlani’s showing on the chart, bowing at No. 21.
Elswhere, Kehlani reenters at No. 11 (a new high) on the Billboard Artist 100 chart, after previously peaking at No. 78 back in 2016. The chart measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
