Alex O’Dogherty is taking his show across the Atlantic…
Viacom’s South European and African Comedy Central channels will hold their first-ever joint Comedy Central International Showcase, with the 42-year-old Spanish comedian/actor forming part of the lineup.
The Comedy Central International Showcase, which aims to increase the international exposure of its local standup comics, will be held during the upcoming Just for Laughs festival in Montreal.
O’Dogherty, who performs on stage, television, radio and has appeared in 32 films, is best known for his role of Arturo in Camera café.
He’ll be joined by South African comedians Jason Goliath and Conrad Koch, and Italian comedian Francesco de Carlo.
The live show will be held in Montreal’s Yuk Yuk’s comedy club on July 25, with the show airing in Italy, Spain and Africa this autumn.
“Developing the stand-up industry is definitely a part of our DNA at Comedy Central and in the past few years we have been doing that successfully in Spain, Italy and Africa,” said Amalia Martinez De Velasco, VP of Comedy Brands for Viacom International Media Networks, in a statement.
“This event is a great chance for our comics to get new exposure while at the same time demonstrating to other up-and-coming talents in our regions that Comedy Central supports local comics and can create opportunities for them,” she added.
