Ciara Bravo to Star in Justin Lin’s Next Film “Last Days”

Ciara Bravo is bracing for her last days

The 27-year-old part-Latina actress will star in Justin Lin’s next film Last Days.

Ciara Bravo,Bravo is among a roster of five new cast additions that includes Toby Wallace, Claire PriceDieudonné Ngabo and Marny Kennedy.

They join previously announced cast members Sky Yang, Radhika Apte, Naveen Andrews and Ken Leung.

Based on the Outside Magazine article “The Last Days of John Allen Chau” by journalist Alex Perry, the film tells the story of John Allen Chau, who believes he has been chosen to save the souls of the uncontacted tribe of North Sentinel Island. Designated as a protected site by the Indian government, John sets on a harrowing journey to proselytize the Sentinelese in his desperate search for identity, purpose, and belonging.

Written by Ben Ripley (Source Code), and marking a return to his indie roots for Lin following work on the Fast & Furious franchise, the film has just kicked off production in Thailand.

In addition to directing, Lin is producing through his Perfect Storm Entertainment, overseen by Salvador Gatdula and Andrew Schneider.

Bravo’s previous credits include Cherry, Big Time Rush and Red Band Society.

Cinedigm Acquires North American Rights to Fatima Ptacek’s Coming-of-Age Drama “Coast”

Cinedigm has acquired North American rights to Coast, a coming-of-age drama starring the 21-year-old half-Ecuadorian and part-Colombian American actress.

Fatima Ptacek, CoastIn addition to Ptacek, who has lent her voice as the lead role of Dora in Nickelodeon‘s animated television series Dora the Explorer since 2010, the film also stars stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo, Melissa Leo and Ciara Bravo. 

Cinedigm plans to release Coast day-and-date in theaters and on VOD on April 8.

Set in a farming community along the Central California coast, the story revolves around 16-year-old Abby (Ptacek), who is desperate to escape the trappings of small-town life. Stuck in a loop of sameness, she refuses to believe the lives of those around her are all she has to look forward to, longing for something more. Everything changes when she falls for the lead singer of a touring rock band and must decide whether to leave her family and friends behind in search of a better life.

Jessica Hester and Derek Schweickart directed the film from a script by Cindy Kitagawa, which was based on her own childhood experiences.

Mia Frampton and Mia Xitlali round out its cast.

Hester and Schweickart produced alongside Dani Faith Leonard, Sonya Lunsford, Wendy Guerrero and Alex Cirillo.

Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for Cherry, starring the part-Latina actress.

The drama teams Marvel alums Tom Holland and Joe and Anthony Russo in the true life tale of a Iraq War hero who battles PTSD and spirals into addiction and robbing banks upon his return to civilian life.

The film will hit theaters and the streamer on February 26 .

Based on Nico Walker’s novel based on his life story and with a screenplay by Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg, Holland’s Cherry drifts from dropping out of college to serving as an Army medic in Iraq, through it all anchored by his true love Emily (Bravo). But his undiagnosed PTSD spurs bad decisions, shattering his relationship as he falls. Jack Reynor, Michael Rispoli, Jeff Wahlberg, Forrest Goodluck and Michael Gandolfini also star.

The film is a darkly humorous, unflinching coming-of-age story.

It also marks the Russos’ first directing gig since Avengers: Endgame, the highest-grossing movie of all time. This one they financed themselves — like Walker, the brothers are from Cleveland where this movie is set — via their AGBO production outfit.

Apple is making it a big awards-season play after it acquired worldwide rights to the film in September in a deal in the $40 million range.

Camila Perez to Appear on FX’s Limited Series “Teacher”

The Colombian actress is set to appear on FX’s limited series Teacher.

Kate Mara and Nick Robinson will star in the 10-episode series, which is based on Hannah Fidell’s buzzy 2013 Sundance Film Festival feature, starring and executive produced by Mara.

A Teacherexplores the story behind the mugshot of a female high school teacher (Mara) caught in an affair with her male student (Robinson), revealing the complexities and consequences of these illegal relationships. 

Perez will appear in a recurring role, alongside Rya KihlstedtCameron Moulène and Ciara Bravo. Series regulars include Ashley Zukerman, Marielle ScottShane Harper and Adam David Thompson

Fidell, who wrote, directed and produced the film, will pen the adaptation, direct and executive produce the limited series.

Perezportrays Alison, Eric’s socially conscious and well-meaning ex-girlfriend. Bravoportrays Mary.

Perez recently recurred on Starand Gotham.

Bravo played Emma on Red Band Society.She was most recently seen on YouTube’s Wayne, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.Dand NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
