RBD Earns Highest Grossing Touring Act Honors for November

RBD is celebrating a November to remember…

After two months at No. 2, the reunited Mexican Latin group takes the helm as the highest grossing touring act of November.

RBDThe group’s Soy Rebelde Tour grossed $71.1 million and sold 734,000 tickets from November 3 to 30, per Billboard Boxscore figures. The tour is the act’s first trek since 2008’s Tour del Adios.

Current through November 30, the Soy Rebelde Tour has grossed $197.1 million since launching in August. About half a million dollars shy of Daddy Yankee’s 2022 farewell tour, RBD’s reunion will become the second-highest grossing tour by a Latin act once its December shows are reported, behind Bad Bunny‘s World’s Hottest Tour.

RBD’s monthly crown is due to hustle. Other than Trans-Siberian Orchestra, the perennial holiday favorite that includes two touring ensembles for either coast of the U.S., RBD played more shows in November than any act among the top 30. With 17 shows split between seven markets, the group earned its spot atop the heap by playing hard.

After sitting at No. 2 behind Beyoncé and Pink in September and October, respectively, RBD levels up, and its routing has much to do with it. Not only did the group play more shows than in either of the previous months, but after touring the U.S., RBD took on Latin America in November, transitioning to a primarily Spanish-language audience.

That move allowed RBD to move from arenas to stadiums, multiplying its nightly audience by more than two. In the U.S., the group paced about 18,000 tickets per night before rocketing to more than 43,000 each show in Colombia, Brazil and Mexico.

But the ticket pricing economy is much different in these geographical regions, and RBD’s average ticket price went from $241.30 in the U.S. to $96.81 in Latin America.

In all, its average gross stayed almost the same, even dipping by 4%. But the pure volume of seats that RBD could sell made up the difference, giving RBD its first monthly win yet.

At No. 1 for November, RBD is only the third Latin act to lead the monthly Top Tours chart. Los Bukis first broke ground in September 2021, and Bad Bunny pushed the boundaries further, ruling in February, March, August and September of 2022. Aventura, Daddy Yankee, Maluma and Rauw Alejandro have also hit the top five.

That means that RBD is the source for the genre’s first female artists to hit the top tier. The mixed-gender group’s reunion features original members Anahi, Dulce Maria and Maite Perroni, all hailing from Mexico. Beyond Latin music, they continue a hot streak for women atop the chart: after a nearly four-year drought, Beyoncé, Pink and RBD have kept women at No. 1 for six of the last seven months.

Beyond the No. 1 act, Pink and Madonna add support at Nos. 3 and 5, respectively. Mariah Carey, Shania TwainMs. Lauryn Hill and in her monthly Boxscore debut, Doja Cat, follow. While a grand total of seven women acts in the top 30 doesn’t give them a majority, the 23.3% gender split is up from the 2023 year-end wrap, where women’s representation doubled from the previous year.

Four of RBD’s seven stops in November crack the 30-position Top Boxscores chart. Four shows at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo, Brazil (Nov. 16-19) earned $17.4 million and sold 191,000 tickets, while another four at Estadio Antanasio Girardot (Medellin, Colombia; Nov. 3-6) took in $17.2 million from 150,000 tickets.

In Sao Paulo, RBD played another two shows at Estadio do Morumbi on Nov. 12-13, grossing $11 million. If the group had consolidated their Sao Paulo run at one venue, the combined gross would’ve given them the No. 1 spot with more than $28 million.

Anahi and her RBD group mates are getting creative

The Mexican pop group, featuring the 39-year-old Mexican actress and singer, has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for worldwide representation in all areas.

RBDSpecifically, the L.A.-based agency will represent the band — now comprised of Anahí, Christian ChavezDulce MaríaChristopher von Uckermann and Maite Perroni — in areas such as acting, brand consulting, touring, podcasting and fashion/beauty.

News of the signing follows RBD’s highly-anticipated announcement of a reunion that includes a 26-date global Soy Rebelde Tour with stops in Mexico, the U.S. and Brazil.

The stint will mark the group’s first time taking the stage together since disbanding in December 2008 after their last show in Madrid.

The Live Nation-produced trek will kick off in El Paso, Texas, at the Sun Bowl Stadium on August 25 and will make stops in key U.S. cities like Chicago, New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

When RBD last toured, in total it grossed $72.5 million and sold over 1.5 million tickets, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore.

“It’s a new era that makes us really excited and it’s a new opportunity to share the stage once again and feel a unique energy,” Perroni previously told Billboard. “There’re cycles in life and each one of us had to focus on our careers as actors and musicians and that meant we had to give those projects time, energy and a lot of dedication. It also allowed each one of us to grow professionally and personally. Now, the time [for the reunion] is perfect because we’re now more conscious, more mature, we’ll enjoy it from a different perspective now as adults.”

According to CAA, the group will also release new music in the spring.

On the Billboard charts, RBD has a total of seven entries on the Billboard 200 chart including RebeldeCelestial and Nuestro Amor, and eight entries on Top Latin Albums with six hitting the top 10. On Hot Latin Songs, the band has 10 total entries and out of those, five hit top 10.

RBD is managed by Guillermo Rosas, who’s also executive producing the Soy Rebelde Tour.

Anahi & Her Fellow RBD Band Mates to Kick Off Reunion Tour Later This Year

It’s official… Anahi is re-rebelling

The 39-year-old Mexican actress and singer and her fellow RBD members have confirmed they’re coming out of retirement and launching a world tour.

RBDSlated to kick off later this year, it will mark the best-selling group’s highly-anticipated reunion since disbanding in December 2008 after their last show in Madrid.

The Mexican pop band — comprised of AnahíDulce MaríaChristian ChavezMaite Perroni and Christopher von Uckermann (Alfonso Herrera will not join his bandmates) — is set to visit Mexico, Brazil and the U.S. In total, the 26-date stint will tour 10 stadiums and 16 arenas.

The Live Nation-produced trek will kick off in El Paso, Texas, at the Sun Bowl Stadium on August 25 and will make stops in key U.S. cities like Chicago, New York, Miami and Los Angeles.

“It’s a new era that makes us really excited and it’s a new opportunity to share the stage once again and feel a unique energy,” Perroni tells Billboard.

The comeback tour announcement comes a month after the band’s social media accounts shared a minute-plus video, captioned “Soy Rebelde,” which combines a scene from the telenovela Rebelde and recent footage of the current five group members at an intimate dinner.

Conversations for a live, in-person tour had been happening sporadically but nothing ever came to fruition because of conflicting schedules. It wasn’t until late last year that the conversations became serious after all members attended Perroni’s wedding in October. “When I was planning the wedding, the DJ asked me which songs not to play and I strictly said, ‘No RBD songs,’” Perroni remembers. “I explained that I didn’t want my bandmates, who were my guests, to feel pressured into having to sing.”

Then, something unexpected happened: The day of the wedding, RBD members went to ask the DJ to play “Rebelde” and “Sálvame” and they all started singing in unison. “It was an incredible moment. A few days later we started a group chat, and all agreed it was time to have that reunion tour. We planned it all in a month and a half and here we are.”

When RBD last toured, in total it grossed $72.5 million and sold over 1.5 million tickets, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. On the Billboard charts, RBD had a total of seven entries on the Billboard 200 chart including Rebelde, Celestial and Nuestro Amor, and eight entries on Top Latin Albums with six hitting the top 10.

Over on Hot Latin Songs, the band had 10 total entries and out of those, five hit top 10.

“20 years later, we’re closing a cycle of our lives that was so important and so spectacular. Our intention this time around is to enjoy it to the fullest, to share, thank everyone and have some sort of closure that I don’t think we had last time around. We had a goodbye tour back then, but it didn’t feel like we really said goodbye.”

This time around, Anahí, Dulce María and Perroni will be touring as mothers. Anahí has two kids, Dulce María one and Perroni recently announced she’s expecting her first child. “I’m preparing myself physically and mentally for this new stage in my life, which will be challenging but a great opportunity as well. My friends, Dulce and Anahí, who already have experience in motherhood will be there to guide me and give me tips. It will be a very special year for all of us.”

Tickets for RBD’s Soy Rebelde Tour are set to go on sale January 27 at 10:00 am.

Anahi & Her Fellow RBD Band Mates Reuniting Next Year

Anahi is a rebel with a cause…

The 39-year-old Mexican singer and her RBD group mates are reuniting after 15 years.

RBD, RebeldeThe popular Mexican rock group, based on the fictional cast of the show Rebelde, is making the announcement following a recent reboot distributed by Netflix.

The OG Rebelde crew is back, as evidenced by a new Instagram post contrasting classic Rebelde footage with a recent reunion featuring (almost) the entire cast. In addition to Anahi, Christopher von Uckermann, Dulce Maria, Christian Chavez and Maite Perroni are expected to return.

The official RBD Instagram page (@rbd_musica) appears to have wiped the entire page, replacing all their prior posts with the reunion video. As the camera pans to each member of the original cast, the video cuts back to a memorable Rebelde moment featuring that cast member.

However, there is one notable absence: Alfonso Herrera. The Ozark actor has already made his mark in Hollywood following a series of notable roles. He also denied the possibility of him returning to the RBD universe in the new reboot, in an interview with Latina. “I will be in the first row to cheer them on and support them,” he said.

There’s little information on what the reunion will consist of.

We still have no idea if this is a reunion like the Friends special on HBO Max or a full-on reboot like Netflix’s Fuller House. However, the video guides fans to a website that has a countdown clock and the words

“Prepara tu corbata, Enero 19 2023” (Prepare your tie, January 19, 2023), which is as mysterious as it is exciting.

The five participating cast members seem to have followed suit. Each of them has wiped their entire Instagram profile and replaced their photos with the RBD logo. The fact that they’re all committing to the marketing this much does suggest the reunion will consist of more than one episode or special.

Anahí Returning to Music with “Déjame Vivir,” New Collaboration with the Late Juan Gabriel

Anahí is preparing for her return to the music world…

The 39-year-old Mexican actress and singer will make her official comeback to music with “Déjame Vivir,” a new collaboration alongside Juan Gabriel.

AnahiThe single—released posthumously, six years after Juanga’s passing—is a new version of his Rocío Dúrcal-assisted single that launched in 1984. Almost 40 years later, Anahi gives it a modern EDM twist.

“Who’s excited to listen to it?” the singer asked her fans on Instagram, sharing a 15-second preview of the video that features both stars.

“Déjame Vivir,” which marks Anahí’s first official release since “Latidos” in 2020, follows El Divo de Juarez’s “Mía Un Año” released last month in collaboration with Eslabon Armado.

The collaborative track with Juanga comes after his duets with Marc Anthony, J Balvin, and other major artists who formed part of his Los Dúo 2 album released in 2015, which ruled the No. 1 spot on the Top Latin Albums chart for 20 weeks in 2016.

Although it’s Anahí’s first single in two years, she has kept herself busy with music endeavors — in June, the former Rebelde star joined Karol G on stage for an epic rendition of RBD’s 2004 hit “Salvame.”

The performance that took place during the Bichota Reloaded tour in Mexico City became the first time Anahí performed live in 11 years. The singer’s last concert prior to that was in 2011 with her Go Any Go Tour.

Anahí has also been spotted spending time with her former RBD bandmates Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez and Christopher Von Uckermann — first in December 2020 when they hosted a virtual reunion called “Ser o Parecer,” and most recently for Perroni’s wedding to longtime boyfriend Andrés Tovar.

“Déjame Vivir,” which drops at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 27, will form part of the upcoming Los Dúo 3 set.

Anahi Performs RBD Single “Salvame” During Karol G’s Mexico City Concert

Karol G has found her saving grace… Anahi.

During her Bichota Reloaded tour stop in Mexico City, the 31-year-old Colombian singer brought out the 39-year-old Mexican actress, singer and former Rebelde star as her special guest.

Anahi, Karol G,The two powerhouse singers joined voices for an emotional performance of RBD’s 2004 hit “Salvame,” marking the first time Anahi has performed live in 11 years.

On stage, the two artists even rocked pink cowboy hats resembling the one Anahi wore in the song’s official music video.

“It was incredible to see how despite many years of absence you still shine with such intensity,” Karol G, who’s a big RBD fan, expressed on Instagram. “Eleven years off stage, 11 years of invitations that you rejected because you had other ideals and you accepted mine. You accepted me and I felt great and special.”

She continued: “Seeing you again before the world, in the midst of tears and so many emotions, only confirmed that although for years they have been beautiful memories, the feelings of an entire generation are still alive, intact … Having you there not only made me happy but it made millions of us happy. You and I forever.”

In December 2020, Anahi and her former RBD bandmates Maite Perroni, Christian Chávez and Christopher Von Uckermann came together for a virtual reunion event called “Ser o Parecer.” However, her last time in concert was in 2011 with her Go Any Go tour.

“I cannot express in words what you gave me; a moment that I will carry in my soul forever!” the singer commented on Karol’s post. “You are so great and so unique that you gave me the honor of sharing your stage, your audience! All your team is so loving they made me feel so special. Your energy is so powerful that it fills the world with light! That’s why you’re in that place because souls like yours deserve the whole world! Infinite thanks! I will never forget this.”
