Bocanegra Leaving the Rangers, Eyeing Return to MLS

Carlos Bocanegra is setting his sights on a return to the Major League Soccer

The 34-year-old half-Mexican American soccer star, who was featured au naturel in ESPN’s The Body Issue last year, is a free agent after leaving the Scottish Premier League side Rangers.

Carlos Bocanegra

Bocanegra, the former captain of the U.S. national team, spent the past season on loan to Racing Santander in Spain’s Segunda División after the Rangers were demoted to the fourth tier of the Scottish soccer league because of financial problems.

The Rangers announced on the team’s website Saturday that Bocanegra’s contract was mutually terminated a day earlier and said he is expected to return to the Major League Soccer. Toronto has the top slot in the allocation ranking and would have the first chance to add him to its roster if he agrees to an MLS contract, league spokesman Will Kuhns said.

Bocangra played for the Chicago Fire from 2000-04, then went on to Fulham (2004-08), Rennes (2008-10), Saint-Etienne (2010-11) and Rangers (2011-12).

Bocanegra has made 110 appearances for the U.S. and was the American captain at the 2010 World Cup. He has not played for the national team since November.

Shahi Starring Opposite Stallone in “Bullet to the Head”

Sarah Shahi is having a Rocky time in Hollywood…

The 33-year-old half-Spanish actress, a guest star on NBC’s Chicago Fire and CBS’ Person of Interest, is adding a little sex appeal to Sylvester Stallone’s new action film Bullet to the Head.

BULLET TO THE HEAD

“Acting with him was one of those moments in life that I will always remember and will say ‘Wow! I played Stallone’s daughter!’ He’s a generous, cooperative guy on the set,” says the former Fairly Legal star.

Shahi plays Lisa, whose kidnapping forces Stallone, in his role as a killer-for-hire, to take on a mission to save her and avenge the death of his partner.

Bullet to the Head, the first film in 10 years directed by action-film specialist Walter Hill, features a cast that includes Sung Kang, Christian Slater and Jason Momoa.

“Walter is wonderful. For him, less is more while shooting,” says Shahi. “He’s an old-school man of few words. He only gives orders when he deems it necessary. He likes his actors and loves what he does.”

Shahi, who grew up in Texas and became a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader before pursuing an acting career, considers Bullet to the Head her most ambitious project to date.

Shahi Lands Kick-Ass Recurring Role on CBS’ “Person of Interest”

Fairly Legal is barelyhistory… But Sarah Shahi’s already lining up more high-profile work.

The 33-year-old half-Spanish actress, currently appearing in a recurring role on Chicago Fire after the cancellation of her USA series, has landed yet another recurring role on CBS’ drama Person Of Interest.

Sarah Shahi

Shahi will play Shaw, a fearless, sexy and witty operative in a secret paramilitary organization that tracks and eliminates terrorists before they can act.

“If James Bond and Sarah Connor had a kid, Shaw would kick its ass,” said the show’s creator/executive producer Jonathan Nolan about the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader’s role.

Shahi will first appear in the February 21 episode, entitled “Relevance,” which Nolan will direct.

Shahi has been booked for a major arc this season, but she could come back to the series in Season 3.

Shahi to Guest Star on NBC’s “Chicago Fire”

Sarah Shahi is about to heat things up on NBC’s Chicago Fire

The 32-year-old half-Spanish actress has signed on to appear in at least five episodes of the Dick Wolf-produced drama.

Sarah Shahi

Shahi will guest star as Renee, a love interest for firefighter Kelly Severeid (played by Taylor Kinney). She’s already started shooting the role, and although there’s no airdate yet, viewers could possibly see her on screen by the end of the year.

For the last two seasons, Shahi has played mediator Kate Reed on USA’s Fairly Legal.

Shahi, who was recently named “TV’s sexiest star” by Maxim magazine, has also been seen in The L Word and Life.

She’s a former member of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and Miss Fort Worth USA.

Seda to Guest Star on NBC’s “Chicago Fire”

Jon Seda may be experiencing a case of sibling rivalry soon…

The 41-year-old Boricua actor—who stars in HBO’s Treme—  will guest star on NBC’s upcoming firefighter drama Chicago Fire.

Jon Seda

In his three-episode arc, Seda will play Detective Antonio Dawson, the brother to Monica Raymund’s paramedic character Gabriela Dawson.

Seda, who rose to acclaim playing Chris Perez opposite Jennifer Lopez in the Selena biopic, has most recently appeared in Hawaii Five-O, The Closer, Burn Notice and HBO’s The Pacific miniseries.

He’ll next be seen in the Walter Hill feature Bullet to the Head.
