Chesca Added to Performers List for Los Angeles’ Inaugural LA3C Festival

Chesca will be celebrating culture and creativity…

Penske Media Corporation has announced that the Puerto Rican singer will perform at its inaugural two-day culture and creativity festival LA3C.

ChescaChesca is among a list of recently added performers that includes Piso 21 and Kyle.

In addition, Grammy-nominated producer TOKiMONSTA was announced as the Sunday headliner for the Hot Import Nights Stage, which will also include performance sets by Accia, Cuco and Rosegold. Additionally, VIBE, the leading entertainment and lifestyle brand in celebrating Black culture, will host a special 30th anniversary set featuring LA native producer and DJ Linafornia.

Food, fine artists and on-site experiences for the event will be announced in the coming weeks.

Penske Media’s first-ever culture and creativity festival will take over the Los Angeles State Historic Park on December 10 and 11, 2022.

LA3C stands for Los Angeles the Capital of Culture & Creativity and aims to connect communities through the city’s music, food and art.

Additionally, LA3C will support the next generations of creative talent in Los Angeles through partnerships with nonprofit arts organizations Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) and Film Independent.

The festival and performance sets are slated to run from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. PT on the first day and 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. PT on day two. All attendees must be over 21 years of age.

Chesca Teams Up with Villano Antillano & Corina Smith to Release New Singer “Activa”

The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has joined voices with emerging trans rapper Villano Antillano and Venezuelan pop star Corina Smith for her new single “Activa,” with the official music video premiering exclusively on Billboard on Thursday.

Backed by a hard-hitting perreo with futuristic beats, part of the track even references timeless reggaeton bangers like Yaga & Mackie’s “La Batidora” and Don Omar’s “Conteo.”

“Estamos toa’ la’ baby’s activa/pa’ lante y pa’ tras y dandole hasta abajo/Esto acaba empezar nadie se va” (All the babies are active/ To the front to the back and all the way down/ This is only the beginning, nobody is leaving), goes the catchy chorus.

“I feel happy with what is happening in my career. I thank God for allowing me to do what I do,” Chesca, a former Billboard Latin Artist on the Rise, tells Billboard via email. “I like to put a lot of enthusiasm into my work and manage to be an example that dreams do happen. This is just the beginning of countless surprises that I have for my fans — new music and collaborations are what’s coming.”

Smith adds: “This collaboration has been a wonderful experience because as Latinas, we are exchanging dreams and talents between sister countries allowing us to strengthen our presence in music.”

The music video, featuring Chesca, Villana, and Corina, is the best representation of the nightlife in La Isla del Encanto.

Ivy Queen to Headline “Urban Divas United” Virtual Concert in April

Ivy Queen is bringing the diva spirit to Miami…

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican rapper has joined forces with Goyo of Chocquibtown, and newcomer Chesca for the upcoming “Urban Divas United” virtual concert in celebration of Women’s History Month.

The three powerhouses, along with an all-female lineup, are teaming up to honor the Latin women leading the urban genre in a male-dominated industry.

“I am extremely grateful to be part of this project that will bring us all together through music, and for me personally it is a great pride to be the one who started [this movement] with a microphone in hand,” reggaeton veteran Ivy Queen said in a statement.

“Urban Divas United,” presented by Neutrogena and Conciencia Collective, will also raise awareness about the current difficulties affecting women and our community, providing educational resources to viewers.

The all-female lineup includes Snow Tha Product, Natalia Jimenez, and Nesi, with more artists to be announced soon.

The free virtual concert will take place from Downtown Miami at 7:00 pm ET on Saturday, April 10.

Maluma to Perform at This Year’s Premio Lo Nuestro Awards Show

Maluma is bringing a taste of Jamaica to this year’s Premio Lo Nuestro

The 27-year-old Colombian superstar is set to premiere hits from his surprise new album 7 Días en Jamaica during the awards show on February 18.

Meanwhile, Marc Anthony and Daddy Yankee will perform their new hit, “De Vuelta Pa La Vuelta.”

The three stars are the latest performers announced for the first Latin music award show of the year, which will air on Univision.

Other performers announced include Mexican star Carlos Rivera, who will perform “100 Años” alongside Maluma. And in a first, the entire Montaner family – Evaluna, Mau y Ricky and dad Ricardo Montaner — will be joined by Camilo (who is married to Evaluna Montaner) to perform “Amén,” which was released during the holidays.

Regional Mexican rising star Lenin Ramírez will also perform alongside Grupo Firme, as will Chesca; with Prince Royce taking the stage alongside Natti Natasha. The latter will sing their hit “Antes que salga el sol” together on television for the first time.

They join previously announced performers Los Ángeles Azules, Anuel AA, CNCO, Ozuna and Gloria Trevi.

Premios Lo Nuestro will air on Univision on February 18, live from the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Only three months after releasing “Como Tu Me Querias,” the Puerto Rican singer has joined voices with De La Ghetto for a saucy remix.

The track tells the story of a good girl whose looks are deceiving and falls for the bad boy in town. Cue De La Geezy, the bad boy, who brings his distinguishable voice and seductive lyrics to the track.

“Como Tu Me Querias” is an infectious, uptempo reggaeton with hints of old-school perreo and dancehall melodies.

The music video, filmed by Mimi Labisi of Stellarhead in LA, shows both artists’ onscreen chemistry in a futuristic and vibrant setting. Chesca is also seen flaunting her killer dance moves.

 

Chesca, who’s a two-time nominee at the 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro, crowned Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart on December 12, 2020, with her Pitbull and Frankie Valli-assisted “Te Quiero Baby.”

Cristela Alonzo to Take Part in “America’s Changemakers” Event to Kick Off Five Nights of Presidential Inauguration Festivities

The Biden/Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee announced additional programming in advance of the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on January 20, with the 42-year-old Mexican American comedian/actress taking part in the festivities.

The theme of the now five consecutive nights of events is “America United.”

On Saturday, January 16, Alonzo will take part in America United: An Inauguration Welcome Event Celebrating America’s Changemakers.

The event will “celebrate America, reflect and honor our history, and highlight the incredible diversity of the nation” and kick off the five days of programming.

In addition to Alonzo, the roster of participants includes Whoopi Goldberg, actor Nik Dodani, musician Darren Criss, Representative Grace Meng, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the Resistance Revival Choir will participate. The Welcome Event will feature a special performance by Adrian Quesada and his Grammy-nominated Black Pumas. It’ll stream live from 7:00-8:30 pm ET at bideninaugural.org and on Presidential Inaugural Committee social media pages.

Also announced is United We Serve: A Celebration of the National MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 18. According to the news release, thousands of volunteers across the country will participate in the National Day of Service, which will then be celebrated by entertainers and inspiring speakers like Aloe Blacc, Rev. Dr. Bernice King, Martin Luther King III, Chesca, Rep. Sharice Davids, Rosario Dawson, Andra Day, Yo-Yo Ma, Rev. Al Sharpton, Sean Patrick Thomas, Diane Warren, Lynn Whitfield and Bebe Winans. The event will stream live from 8:00-9:00 pm ET at bideninaugural.org and on the inaugural committee’s social media pages.

Other events include the Memorial and Nationwide Tribute to Remember and Honor the Lives Lost to Covid-19 on Tuesday the 19th. At 5:30 pm ET, a D.C. ceremony will feature a lighting around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The inaugural committee has invited cities and towns around the country to join in illuminating buildings and ringing church bells.

Inauguration Day events include President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris laying wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and the former First Ladies in attendance.

Tom Hanks will host the primetime Celebrating America special that will culminate the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Along with appearances from the 46th POTUS and 49th VPOTUS, the Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss-produced 90-minute show will feature “The Star-Spangled Banner” courtesy of Lady Gaga; a “musical performance” by Jennifer Lopez, the details of which were not disclosed; and performances from Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons and longtime Democrat supporter Jon Bon Jovi.

Celebrating America will air on multiple networks. Starting at 8:30 pm ET, the unity-aiming special will be carried by ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN. Additionally, the Weiss-directed show will be seen on Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW from Fox, and AT&T DIRECTV and U-verse, as well as the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s social media feeds.

The 29-year-old Colombian-Canadian singer and Grammy nominee will perform at this year’s Billboard Latin Music Awards, which are less than a month away.

Reyez joins a roster of newly confirmed A-list artists set to perform at the Billboard awards show.

Reyez joins a roster of new additions to the lineup that includes Anuel AA, Banda MS, Carlos Vives, Chesca, Daddy Yankee, Kendo Kaponi, Luis Fonsi, Manuel Turizo, Pablo Alborán, Paulina Rubio, Pitbull, Rauw Alejandro, Raymix, Reik, and Yandel.

They join the previously announced performers Armando Manzanero, Black Eyed Peas, Farruko, Gente de Zona, Gerardo Ortiz, Jesse & Joy, Maluma, Myke Towers, Ozuna, Sech, and Wisin.

The 2020 BLMAs, led by top finalists Bad Bunny and Ozuna, are the only awards show to honor the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, the awards are determined by the actual sales, streaming, radio airplay, and social data that informs Billboard‘s weekly charts during a one-year period from the rankings dated February 2, 2019, through this year’s January 25 charts.

The event is coinciding with Billboard’s Latin Music Week 30th anniversary, a three-day virtual experience dedicated to Latin music, culture, and entertainment, The Billboard Latin Music Awards 2020 will broadcast live from the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida on October 21 via Telemundo.
