Charisma Carpenter Starring in Audible Original Story “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story” with Fellow Buffy Alums

Charisma Carpenter will slay another day…

The 53-year-old part-Spanish American actress and several of her fellow Buffy the Vampire Slayer series co-stars are returning for an Audible original story, “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story,” set in the same world as the original show.

In addition to Marsters and Carpenter, returning cast members include Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Emma Caulfield Ford, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary and Danny Strong.

The scripted original picks up 10 years after the events of the 2003 finale. Per the official description, “Since then, Spike (Marsters) has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways. When his cover is compromised by sixteen-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more. While he attempts to track down a watcher for his eager new protégé, their paths collide with the veteran Slayer of a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed… a reality where Cordelia Chase (Carpenter) is the one-and-only Slayer. She needs Spike’s help with a classic big bad terrorizing her world… his old flame, Drusilla (Landau).”

In a statement, Masters said he’s excited to be back in the “Buffy” universe, “as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion and mischief,” hoping for both old and new fans.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer originally aired from 1997 to 2003. The show was adapted from the film of the same name starring Kristy Swanson.

Slayers is written by Benson and Christopher Golden; it was directed by Benson, Golden and Kc Wayland. The cast will reunite for a panel on Friday, October 13 at 1:30pm, at New York Comic Con.

Charisma Carpenter to Star in the Sci-Fi Family Drama “Mail Order Monster”

The 46-year-old part Spanish-American actress and former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star is set to star in the sci-fi family drama Mail Order Monster, from director Paulina Lagudi and Jax Productions.

The film stars Madison Horcher as 12-year-old Sam Pepper, who lost her mother in a car accident, and her reclusive, quirky nature makes her an easy target for bullying. Realizing she’d had enough, Sam orders the parts to build a “Monster” from a comic book ad, and is finally able to get back at the bully. When Sam discovers her father Roy (Josh Hopkins) proposed to his girlfriend Sydney (Carpenter), she relies on her monster to keep her from getting a new mom.

Lagudi and Marc Prey co-wrote the film, which will go before cameras next month in Kentucky.

Carpenter, who starred on Angel, recently appeared in Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Lucifer.

The 44-year-old part Spanish-American actress and former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s comedy-horror Fox anthology series Scream Queens.

The show’s star, Emma Roberts, let it slip on Instagram that the comedy will premiere on the first Tuesday of the season, September 22.

In a guest starring/potential recurring role, Carpenter will play the mom of another lead on the show, singer-actress Ariana Grande.

In the first season of Scream Queens, a college campus is rocked by a series of murders. The series, which Murphy created with fellow Glee co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, hails from 20th Century Television and Ryan Murphy Television.

Lea Michele, Diego BonetaJamie Lee Curtis, Oliver Hudson and Abigail Breslin co-star.

Carpenter, who also co-starred on The Lying Game, previously appeared on Angel, Charmed, Veronica Mars and Blue Bloods, and served as the host of ID’s Surviving Evil.

Investigation Discovery (ID) has ordered a second season of the series, which presents dramatically compelling and emotional stories of victims who fought back against their attackers and, against all odds, survived.

Carpenter is the survivor of a real-life incident that she endured more than 20 years ago. The actress and two of her friends were swimming at San Diego’s Torrey Pines State Beach back in 1991 when they were violently attacked by an armed, rogue police officer.

Carpenter fought back after being held at gunpoint, but her two friends were both shot by the attacker and seriously wounded. The police officer was later sentenced to 56 years in prison for the attacks, as well as a series of rapes and robberies.

“We feel especially lucky to welcome back Charisma, who adds an important layer of depth to the series as a survivor and symbol of female empowerment in Hollywood,” ID’s general manager Kevin Bennett said in the.

ID bills itself as the leading “mystery-and-suspense” network on TV, and America’s favorite “guilty pleasure.”

The 10-episode second season begins filming in early 2014.

Surviving Evil is one of ID’s strongest series, ratings-wise. The first season, which premiered on August 28 with Carpenter’s story, ranked as ID’s top series for primetime delivery in the third quarter of ’13 in the 25-54  demo (450,000).

Carpenter to Guest-Star on CBS’ “Blue Bloods”

The 43-year-old part-Spanish American actress will guest-star on CBSBlue Bloods this fall, according to TVGuide.com.

Carpenter, best known for her role as Cordelia Chase on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off series Angel, will portray Marianne Romano, a former popular girl in high school, who is now flashy, overly needy and just too obvious for a guy with a touch of class. Having had a fling with Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) several years back, she calls on him for help when her abusive-fiancée strikes her in a fit of ‘roid rage.  But her attempt to tweak Danny’s heartstrings backfires when it results in a police investigation of her boyfriend.

Carpenter first announced the news on Twitter. “Playing ‘Marianne’ on [Blue Bloods] is the most fun I have had [with] a character in a long time. Staten Island accent and a lot of leopard!”

Carpenter’s television credits include appearances on Supernatural, Greek and The Lying Game.

Blue Bloods returns to CBS this season on Fridays at 10:00 pm ET.

Carpenter’s episode is slated for November.
