Mon Laferte to Perform at LAMC’s Central Park SummerStage

Organizers of the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference have unveiled its Central Park SummerStage lineup, with the 33-year-old Chilean singer-songwriter and actress among the performers.

In addition to Mon Laferte, the list of performers includes psychedelic Los Angeles-based band Chicano Batman, Puerto Rican artist IFÉ, Venezuelan group La Vida Boheme, multifaceted NYC musician Princess Nokia and Argentine reggae group Los Pericos.

Mon Laferte, IFÉ and Princess Nokia will perform at SummerStage on July 12, while the other three artists will take the stage on closing night July 15.

The fest will take place on July 12-15 in New York.

Now in its 18th edition, LAMC, known as the “Sundance of Latin Music,” will take place at the Stewart Hotel, featuring keynote speakers, industry panels, showcases and other events that will be announced leading up to the conference.

Last year’s fest included performances by Grammy-winning artist iLe, Las Robertas and Sexy Zebras.

Sariñana to Perform at This Year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC)

Ximena Sariñana is making alternative plans for the summer…

The 29-year-old Mexican singer-songwriter is set to perform at this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference.

Taking place at the Central Park Summerstage and St. Mary’s Park in the Bronx, the event will also feature a performance by Vicentico, best known as the lead singer of Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.

He’ll headline a Saturday show with his own band on July 11, when Sariñana and critics’ favorites No Te Va Gustar, Uruguay’s most popular rock band, will also perform.

Mexican Institute of Sound’s Camilo Lara and DJ/producer Toy Selectah, performing together as Compass, will be featured at Summerstage on July 8. They’ll be joined by Colombian electro-cumbia outfit Systema Solar and the bilingual electronic music artist known as Helado Negro.

At a July 7 show at St. Mary’s, DJ Afro — aka Los Amigos InvisiblesJose Luis Pardo — shares the bill with “Our Latin Thing,” a tribute to the music of salsa founders the Fania Allstars and their ’70s scene by 17 singers and musicians.

Now in its 16th year, the LAMC is an annual date for lovers of diverse Latin sounds and tastemakers of all stripes. This year’s event will include several days of industry panels and presentations at the Affinia Manhattan Hotel, and showcases around the New York City area that can be attended by the public.

Leguizamo to Star Opposite Tina Fey & Amy Poehler in “The Nest”

John Leguizamo is flying to the nest

The 49-year-old Colombian actor has landed a role in The Nest, a comedy starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as two 30-something sisters who throw one last party in their parents’ soon-to-be-sold house.

Directed by Pitch Perfect-helmer Jason Moore froma screenplay by Paula Pell, the film will also star John Cena, James Brolin, Ike Barinholtz and Maya Rudolph.

No word yet on Leguizamo’s character in the film for Universal Pictures.

Earlier this year, he starred in the hit comedy Ride Along, where he co-starred with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart. He was also recently seen in the Open Road pic Chef and has a handful of projects set to go into production, including Fugly and American Ultra.

The multi-hyphenate has also begun expanding his brand outside of film with his HBO special Ghetto Klown premiering in March and his PBS special American Masters: The Boomer List currently in pre-production. He will also be performing at Central Park SummerStage on July 28th.

The Nest is set for release on December 18, 2015.
