Ally Brooke Teams Up with Dinah Jane to Release “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” Cover

Ally Brooke is hoping you get you into the holiday spirit…

The 30-year-old Mexican American singer has joined voices with her former Fifth Harmony group mate Dinah Jane to release their rendition of “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.”

Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane

Ally Brooke’s single with Dinah Jane follows on the heels of her recently-released four-track holiday EP Under The Tree, which includes the title track, an original song.

Ally and Dinah made the collaboration announcement by way of their socials earlier in the week.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be back together with my former Fifth Harmony mate Dinah,” Ally enthuses in a statement. “There are no words to explain how it feels to be reunited with our collaboration. We hope to bring lots of happiness to our fans and the world with our reunion.”

Christmas is, of course, a time for family. And this holiday cut represents the first time any of the former 5H bandmates have collaborated since the pop group went on hiatus in 2018.

Formed on The X Factor in 2012 with the lineup of Brooke, Jane, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Camila Cabello, the group went on to land four top 10 titles on the Billboard 200 chart, and earned a top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Work From Home” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, peaking at No. 4 in 2016.

“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” comes years after Fifth Harmony disbanded, at the time reduced to a four-piece when Cabello left.

Jane presents the new song as a special gift to long-suffering Harmonizers.

“There’s a special type of joyous spirit that Christmas brings us all,” she comments. “This holiday season, I’m grateful for this healing union that has brought my good ole sister Ally Brooke and I together through music”.

“May this song encourage you to embrace love, forgiveness, and bring comfort to all,” concludes Dinah. “I pray that this song may connect souls to our dear Savior as His love is the reason for all seasons.”

“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is now bundled into Brooke’s Under the Tree collection.

Selena Gomez is celebrating the Calm

The 30-year-old Mexican American actress/singer’s collaboration with Rema, “Calm Down,” has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Pop Airplay chart dated July 13.

Selena Gomez, RemaThe song, released on Jonzing World/Mavin/SMG Music/Virgin/Interscope Records, marks Gomez’s first leader on the list, as well as Rema’s first No. 1.

Gomez rules Adult Pop Airplay for the first time, following five top 10s: “Lose You to Love Me” (No. 3, 2020); “Back to You” (No. 5, 2018); “It Ain’t Me” with Kygo (No. 6, 2017); as featured on Charlie Puth’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” (No. 9, 2016); and “Same Old Love” (No. 7, 2016).

“Calm Down” concurrently claims a third week atop the all-format Radio Songs chart, with 92 million audience impressions, up 2%, June 30-July 6, according to Luminate.

It likewise became Rema and Gomez’s first No. 1 each on the survey.

Plus, the song rebounds for a fourth week atop Pop Airplay, having become Rema’s first No. 1 and Gomez’s fourth; it now stands as Gomez’s longest-leading No. 1 of her four chart-topping titles, after “Good for You” featuring A$AP Rocky and “Same Old Love” each ruled for two weeks, while “Hands to Myself” spent a week at the summit. (The three songs led in 2015-16.)

“Calm Down” also topped the Rhythmic Airplay chart for four weeks in May-June.

It’s the first song to have achieved enough crossover appeal to lead Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay and Rhythmic Airplay since Lizzo’s “About Damn Time,” which dominated Pop Airplay for seven weeks, Adult Pop Airplay (two) and Rhythmic Airplay (one) last July-August.

Before that, 24kGoldn’s “Mood” featuring Iann Dior paced all three charts in 2020-21, after Camila Cabello’s “Havana” featuring Young Thug tripled up in 2017-18.

Rema, from Nigeria, released the original version of “Calm Down” in February 2022 as a single from his debut solo LP, Rave & Roses. Its remix with Gomez arrived last August, and that version’s official video premiered in September.

“Calm Down” has topped the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for 45 weeks running, the longest command since the ranking began just over a year ago, in partnership with music festival and global brand Afro Nation.

On the all-genre, multimetric Billboard Hot 100, “Calm Down” has hit No. 3, becoming Rema’s first entry and Gomez’s ninth top 10, and second-highest-charting, after “Lose You to Love Me” led for a week in November 2019.

Camila Cabello Stars in Olipop’s First-Ever National Campaign

It’s a family (and friends) affair for Camila Cabello

The 26-year-old Cuban & Mexican singer is joined by her family and friends in her new campaign with Olipop, the soft drink company’s first-ever national campaign.

Camila Cabello“I wanted it to feel authentic and those are the people that really make me who I am,” the former Fifth Harmony member tells Billboard of the new ad, which follows the theme of “Real Love Makes Us.”

In the 30-second Daniel Mercadante-directed clip, the “Havana” singer is seen hanging out and laughing with her parents, sister and friends.

“Success is always measured by the big stuff, but we forget that it’s the little stuff that really makes us,” she is heard saying in the video, as she and her loved ones enjoy some Olipop soda at the dinner table.

The relaxed environment in the clip directly reflects some of Cabello’s favorite childhood memories, telling Billboard that her most beloved times with her family and friends are “those moments when we’re all in the kitchen and someone is cooking or making coffee, and we’re talking about nothing, but simply being around each other feels like we’re tending to something important.”

Olipop already sticks out in grocery stores due to its fun, colorful packaging, but the brand also aims to redefine soft drinks by developing a tonic that combines the classic soda taste with the benefits of plant-based fiber, prebiotics and other botanical ingredients to help balance out the body’s microbiome and promote overall well-being.

“Soda is a powerful force that has historically brought people together and fostered social cohesion, family bonding, and lifelong memories,” said Ben Goodwin, Olipop’s founder, formulator and CEO in a press statement. “But how can we still associate this nostalgic, friendly feeling most of us get with soda when we as a society have accepted the serious health consequences associated with it? Our new campaign goes back to why I created Olipop in the first place — to allow consumers to enjoy soda once again without any sacrifice on taste or health. We can hopefully inspire people to truly take the time to celebrate the real moments that make us who we are — with a soda in hand that’s actually good for you.”

And, yes, Cabello told us her favorite flavor. “It’s between Vintage Cola and Strawberry Vanilla,” she shares. “Vintage Cola is so good with tacos and pizza! Reminds me of childhood.”
