NBC Picks Up Stephanie Beatriz’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” for a Sixth Season After Fox’s Cancellation

Stephanie Beatriz isn’t retiring after all…

Shortly after Fox cancelled Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the cop comedy series, starring the 37-year-old Argentine-born American actress, has been picked up by NBC for a 13-episode sixth season.

Stephanie Beatriz

NBC, whose sister studio Universal TV produces the Andy Samberg-starring series, was one of the potential suitors for the comedy after its cancellation.

NBC also was among the broadcast networks that bid for the Brooklyn Nine-Nine pitch from creators Mike Schur and Dan Goor when it hit the marketplace in 2012 before the project landed at Fox in a very competitive situation.

“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor, and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”

Created by the Parks and Recreation duo of Goor and Schur, former college roommates, Brooklyn Nine-Nine centers on Peralta, played by Saturday Night Live alum Samberg, a screwball who happens to be a real good cop. His captain in the NYPD’s 99th Precinct is Raymond Holt, a seen-it-all and emotion-challenged captain played by Andre Braugher, who scored three consecutive Emmy noms for Supporting Actor from 2014-2016. Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Joel McKinnon Miller and Dirk Blocker also star.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was Fox’s highest-rated live-action comedy series this season among adults 18-49, is produced by Universal Television.

The show won two Golden Globes in its freshman season — for best comedy series and best actor in a comedy series (Samberg).

Fox Orders Additional Episodes of Carla Jimenez’s Sitcom “The Mick”

Carla Jimenez will micking things up for longer this season…

Fox has ordered seven additional episodes of its Kaitlin Olson-starrer The Mick, featuring the 43-year-old Latina actress, bringing the Season 2 total to 20, three more episodes than it produced in Season 1.

Carla Jimenez, The Mick,

The series launched last season as a midseason show with a 13-episode order, which is the norm for midseason starts.

Fox moved The Mick to Tuesdays at 9:00 pm ET this season, as a lead-in to Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the show has done well in the new time slot. The Season 2 premiere in September drew 2.8 million viewers and 0.9 demo rating, besting its numbers for the Season 1 finale.

The Mick is a comedy about an unapologetic degenerate (Olson) who suddenly finds herself stuck raising her spoiled niece (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and nephews (Thomas Barbusca, newcomer Jack Stanton) in affluent Greenwich, CT. It’s pretty much everything she never wanted. Regardless, she’s determined to rise to the occasion and transform these little monsters into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something she knows absolutely nothing about.

Jimenez, who has appeared on Raising Hope and Last Man Standing, portrays Alba, the Pemberton’s maid.

Produced by 20th Century Fox TelevisionThe Mick was created/written by John Chernin and Dave Chernin.

Fox Renews Jimenez’s Comedy Series “The Mick” for a Second Season

Carla Jimenez is still maid for television…

Fox has given an early season two renewal for its new comedy series The Mick, featuring the 42-year-old Latina actress as part of the cast.

Carla Jimenez

It’s the first freshman Fox series to get a pickup for next season.

The Mick, a midseason entry starring Kaitlin Olson, has been a high-profile project for the network. The series was launched behind an NFL double-header on a Sunday, and it received another special Sunday airing behind The Simpsons’ first-ever one-hour episode.

The football-boosted premiere of The Mick on January 1, drew a 3.7 Live+same day rating among Adults 18-49, the highest-rated comedy debut on Fox since New Girl, with the post-Simpsons airing logging a 1.7.

In its regular Tuesday slot, The Mick started with a 1.3 (L+SD) and has settled into the 1.0-1.1 adults 18-49 L+SD range in the past five airings.

Three episodes into The Mick‘s 13-episode freshman run, the network gave the series an order for four additional episodes.

The Mick, which Fox says reaches a multi-platform audience of 8 million viewers, was created by John and Dave Chernin. It’s the first Fox comedy to be renewed for next season, ahead of established series like New Girl, Last Man on Earth and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It joins recently renewed dramas Empire and Lucifer.

“From the earliest stages of development, all of us at Fox had enormous faith in The Mick, and it hasn’t disappointed,” said Fox Entertainment president David Madden. “Kaitlin is a fearless comedic force, and the rest of the cast has just proven to be phenomenal. John and Dave Chernin have a very clear vision of what this show is, and they execute on that vision each week to perfection.”

The Mick is a comedy about an unapologetic degenerate (Kaitlin Olson) who suddenly finds herself stuck raising her spoiled niece (Sofia Black-D’Elia) and nephews (Thomas Barbusca, newcomer Jack Stanton) in affluent Greenwich, CT. It’s pretty much everything she never wanted. Regardless, she’s determined to rise to the occasion and transform these little monsters into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something she knows absolutely nothing about. The series also stars Jimenez, who portrays Alba, and newcomer Scott MacArthur.

Jimenez’s recent television credits include appearances on Santa Clarita Diet, Fuller House, The Mindy Project and Young & Hungry.
