Jacob Elordi Nominated for BAFTA Film Rising Star Award

Jacob Elordi’s meteoric rise continues…

The 26-year-old half-Spanish Australian actor has been nominated for the prestigious BAFTA Film Rising Star Award 2024 by the by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Jacob Elordi,Following his breakout roles in The Kissing Booth film trilogy and Euphoria, Elordi led Saltburn opposite Barry Keoghan, Amazon Prime Video’s BAFTA-nominated psychological drama from Emerald Fennell. He also starred as Elvis Presley in the biographical film Priscilla.

Elordi will compete against Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, Mia McKenna-Bruce, who led hit British indie film How to Have Sex, and Talk to Me’s Sophie Wilde.

Nominees were announced by actor and producer Stephen Graham at a press conference hosted by film critic and radio host, Ali Plumb.

The jury, chaired by Anna Higgs, BAFTA Film Committee Chair, featured actors Daisy Edgar-Jones, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Himesh Patel, casting directors Lucy Bevan (The Batman), and Nina Gold (Game of Thrones), film producer Adam Ackland (The End We Start From) alongside leading industry specialists.

Last year’s gong was won by Sex Education’s Emma Mackey and previous winners include Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, John Boyega and Tom Holland.

“These remarkable individuals represent what BAFTA and the EE Rising Star Award stand for as the future of the film industry, embodying innovation, dedication, and a commitment to storytelling that captivates audiences worldwide,” said BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip.

Host Ali Plumb added: “Each rising star talent deserves this spotlight, having provided extraordinary performances serving as inspiration for the next generation.”

Netflix Renews Sarah Shahi’s “Sex/Life” for Second Season

Sarah Shahi’s sex life is getting another boost…

Netflix has renewed Sex/Life, starring the 41-year-old part-Spanish American actress for a second season.

The streamer also revealed that the first season of the steamy drama was watched by 67 million households in the first four weeks since its May 25 release. Netflix’s metric counts households that have watched two or more minutes of a program.

The 67 million is the third largest audience for an original Netflix series only behind the first seasons of Bridgerton and The Witcher though the streamer’s subscriber base is ever expanding, which is boosting viewership figures for newer shows.

Set to return for Season 2 are Sex/Life‘s series regulars, Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos and Margaret Odette. Production will take place once again in Toronto.

Inspired by the novel 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton, Sex/Life was created and written by Stacy Rukeyser who serves as showrunner. Rukeyser executive produces with J. Miles Dale and Jordan Hawley.

Sex/Life is the story of a love triangle between a woman, her husband, and her past that takes a provocative new look at female identity and desire. Billie Connelly (Shahi) wasn’t always a stay-at-home wife and mother living in the suburbs. Before she married loving and reliable Cooper (Vogel) and moved to Connecticut, Billie was a free-spirited wild child living in New York City with her best friend Sasha (Odette), working hard and playing even harder. Exhausted from taking care of her two young kids and feeling nostalgic for her past, Billie starts journaling and fantasizing about her passionate exploits with sexy ex-boyfriend Brad (Demos), the big heartbreak she never got over. But the more Billie remembers, the more she wonders how she got here — and then her husband finds her journal. Will the truth about Billie’s past start a sexual revolution in her marriage, or lead her down a path back to the life she thought she left behind with the man who broke her heart?

Bad Bunny to Serve as Musical Guest on Next Week’s Episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”

Bad Bunny is preparing for a late night first…

The 26-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer will make his debut appearance as an in-person musical guest at Studio 8H during next weekend’s episode of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Bad Bunny will be the musical guest opposite opposite host Regé-Jean Page, one of the breakout stars of Netflix’s Bridgerton, on February 20.

Bad Bunny had previously appeared in a remote-production of the NBC show last April alongside Keenan Thompson.

Bad Bunny (born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio) had a busy 2020, including making history on the Billboard 200. The rapper earned his first No. 1 on the chart with El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, which became the first all-Spanish-language album to reach the peak position in the chart’s 64-year-history.

The album was also Bad Bunny’s third studio album of 2020, which also included YHLQMDLG — released in February and peaked at No. 2 — and Las Que No Iban a Salir from May.

Bad Bunny has collaborated with the likes of Cardi B and Drake, and he performed at last year’s Super Bowl halftime show alongside Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
