Christina Aguilera is the champion, my friends

The 34-year-old half-Ecuadorian American singer joins an all-star roster of musicians to perform an a cappella version of Queen’s rock classic We Are The Champions.”

We Are The Champions with Christina Aguilera

Late night talk show host Jimmy Fallon revealed the highly entertaining video featuring Aguilera, Carrie Underwood, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, One Direction and others during a special post-Super Bowl episode of NBC’s The Tonight Show.

With the screen divided into a nine-square grid, similar to the iconic The Brady Bunch opening credits, Fallon sang the opening lines of the song while the Roots constructed a tight rhythm section using only their own mouths. Then Underwood chimes in to carry the song for a few lyrics, followed by Smith and Grande sharing a duet on the triumphant chorus.

Usher, Blake Shelton, Meghan Trainor and One Direction also contribute to the “We Are The Champions” bit, but in an a cappella performance that features big time voices like Underwood and Grande, it’s Aguilera who steals the song with a skyscraping final chorus during the grand finale.

Dion will soon be taking an indefinite hiatus from her longtime residency at the resort and casino. And, TMZ says that the Colosseum is interested in signing Carey for “a very lucrative weekend engagement.”

They have reportedly offered the soon-to-be-single superstar $750,000 for two shows at the legendary venue.

Carey isn’t the only star wanted to play shows there. The Coloseum operator, AEG, is also targeting other big names like Adele, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Prince and Bruce Springsteen.

Earlier this month, Dion announced she’d put her Las Vegas residency on hold and canceled her remaining tour dates indefinitely to focus on her ailing husband, Rene Angelil.

“I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband’s healing, and to do so, it’s important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children,” she said in a statement.

Shakira and Blake Shelton Perform “Medicine” at the ACM Awards

She’s not a registered nurse, but Shakira is a Florence Nightingale when it comes to delivering musical medicine.

The 37-year-old Colombian singer and fellow The Voice coach Blake Shelton offered television viewers a taste of “Medicine,” their new country-tinged duet, at Sunday’s ACM Awards.

Shakira and Blake Shelton at the ACM Awards

Donning a rockin’ red dress and above-the-knee black boots, Shakira delivered a spirited version of the pa-pa-pa-pounding love anthem with the country music superstar. Following their performance Shakira and Shelton exchanged a huge smile and a hug.

The duet is the result of Shakira’s desire to go a little bit country, having approached Shelton after the two worked together on The Voice.

“I told him I wanted to work with Nashville people,” Shakira told Billboard last month. “I was a little tired of L.A. I wanted people with another point of view, real people with roots with whom I feel comfortable working in the same room. And I told Blake I wanted to do a song that had the narrative of a country song, that was picturesque, that was a real song. But it also needed to suit me, because after all, I’m Colombian.”

“Medicine” hit No. 57 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart after the release of her self-titled album in late March, netting her first entry on a country chart.

Shakira and her fellow coach on NBC’s reality singing competition will perform their collaboration “Medicine” during the country music awards celebration, which will be televised live on CBS from Las Vegas.

“Medicine” is one of the singles from Shakira’s recently released self-titled tenth album.

The Shakira-Shelton duet came from “Shakira’s folks reaching out to us, saying we have this opportunity and would you be interested? As producers we’re always looking for these moments when we can bring folks together. We think its great for the show.”

“Medicine” will debut this week on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart this week at No. 57.

The ACM Awards are handed out by the Academy of Country Music.

Shakira Releases the Official Music Video for New Track “Empire”

Shakira is expanding her empire… as a runaway bride no less.

The 37-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter and The Voice coach, who launched her new album Shakira. on Tuesday, has released the official music video for her latest single “Empire.”

Shakira's Empire Video

The clip finds Shakira ditching the altar to prance around in a meadow and burn bright, literally.

When she enters a church in her beautiful wedding dress, but gets cold feet, she runs out and toward the countryside, where she can run free.

Shakira eventually returns to the church, but she re-enters the building in a low-cut black dress, and begins flailing while lip-synching to the epic pop-rock ballad.

“Empire” follows lead single, the Rihanna duet “Can’t Remember To Forget You,” which was No. 31 on last week’s tally.

Shakira’s new album also features collaborations with Magic! and fellow The Voice coach Blake Shelton.

Shakira Records Country-Tinged Track “Medicine” with Blake Shelton

Shakira may be a Latin Pop superstar, but she’s also a little bit country…

The 37-year-old Colombian singer and current The Voice coach has joined voices with Blake Shelton to record “Medicine,” a light-on-the-fiddle-and-steel country tune that could find success on pop radio.

Shakira

“I told him I wanted to work with Nashville people,” Shakira told Billboard‘s Leila Cobo about the track that forms part of her latest studio effort, the self-titled album that will be released on March 25.

“I think I have real folk roots in my previous albums,” she added. “The acoustic guitars, that type of narrative, songs that have a traditional structure. And I said to [Shelton], ‘I want to do that type of song.’ When I wrote the song I didn’t know what direction to go in and I did like eight versions. Dance, pop…but I said no, this is a country song.”

Shakira worked on the song with writer Hillary Lindsey and producer Mark Bright – who both have collaborated with Carrie Underwood, among others.

“I think she did a hell of a job,” Shelton said. “One thing is for someone like her to say she’s going to do something and another is to do it. And I’ll be damned, a month and a half ago she wrote me and said, ‘I wrote the song, and I want you to tell me what you think.’ And I said: ‘Gosh dang, you did exactly what you said you’d do. It sounds like a hit song.’

“I was so nervous. You have no idea. I was so scared he was going to say, ‘No, Shakira. I love you, but no,'” recalled Shakira. “But then he said, ‘Sister, I love you this is great.’

“And then she said, ‘Well, do you want to sing on it?'” Shelton added. “I was honored to do it.”

Shakira and Shelton sang each other’s hits during the opener of this season’s February 24 premiere of The Voice, when Shakira performed a rocking version of “Boys Round Here,” and Shelton took a shot at Shakira’s “Whenever, Wherever,” on which she joined him for the chorus.

“She was one of those huge international stars I had only seen from a distance,” he said. “…And she feels like someone I had known my whole life. She’s motherly to everyone she meets. I love being around her and seeing how she treats the group of people who travel with her. She’s just a real person.”

Shakira Reveals the Artwork for Her Upcoming Self-Titled Album

Shakira is pulling the strings for her new album…

The 37-year-old Colombian singer-songwriter and returning The Voice coach has revealed the new artwork of her upcoming self-titled album.

Shakira

For the album cover, Shakira stares down the camera while dressed in black lingerie-like attire and holding a guitar.

Shakira, who on Twitter alone has nearly 24 million followers, led the charge on social media on Friday (Feb. 14), giving fans a peek at the new art work.

“The new Shakira album will launch in 39 days,” Shakira posted on Twitter. “We thought you’d like to see the top.”

Fans quickly took to Twitter to offer their opinions.

“You look beautiful,” wrote fan Alejandro Armendariz. “Thank you.”

Other fans wondered if the new cover art was simply a tease and are hoping for a different kind of cover. “Is this a joke omg,” wrote another commentator.

The release of the cover comes on the heels of the recent release of Shakira’s single “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” featuring Rihanna. In addition, she released a Spanish-language version of the track, entitled “Nunca Me Acuerdo de Olvidarte.”

Shakira’s forthcoming album will be released on March 25 and, according to published reports, will also include a country song with fellow The Voice coach Blake Shelton.

The new season of The Voice is currently in production.

Shakira Returning to NBC’s “The Voice” in Late February

It’s official… Shakira is heading back to NBC’s infamous red leather chair…

The 36-year-old Colombian superstar will reprise her role as a Season 4 coach on the network’s hit singing competition The Voice.

Shakira

Shakira, along with R&B singer Usher, will reunite with show regulars Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for The Voice’s sixth season.

Shakira and the men will return in a special two-night premiere: 8:00-10:00 pm on Monday, February 24, and 8:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday, February 25.

Last spring, Shakira and Usher were cast to fill in for Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, respectively, on The Voice — the latter two original judge/mentors returned for the fall season.

It’s an arrangement the show’s producers appear to have institutionalized. And in doing so, The Voice has become a bastion of judge stability.

The Voice has averaged a 4.9 rating in the demo and 14.7 million viewers overall with its Monday edition, and a 4.5 and 14 viewers overall on Tuesdays, making it the No. 1-rated Monday and Tuesday series on the broadcast networks so far this season in the demo.
