Yng Lvcas & Peso Pluma Earn First No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay Chart with “La Bebe”

Yng Lvcas is celebrating a bebe-sized hit…

The 23-year-old Mexican reggaeton singer and his “La Bebe” collaborator, Peso Pluma, have achieved their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Rhythm Airplay chart as “La Bebe” advances from No. 2 to lead the list dated June 24.

It’s the first team-up where both artists secure their first champ in 2023, and the first since Bizarrap and Quevedo led with “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” in 2022.

“La Bebe” takes the lead with 9.4 million audience impressions, a 19% gain from the week prior, earned in the U.S. during the June 9-15 tracking period, according to Luminate.

The new champ on Latin Rhythm Airplay arrives after “La Bebe” topped Latin Digital Song Sales for one week on the April 15-dated ranking. Plus, the song previously reached a No. 2 high on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, on Hot Latin Songs, and on Latin Streaming Songs.

As “La Bebe” becomes the reigning champ on Latin Rhythm Airplay, it earns both Lvcas and Pluma their first No. 1, who also secured their maiden entry when the song debuted in the upper half of the ranking (at No. 14) in April.

Previously, both Bizarrap and Quevedo completed the feat when “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” crowned Latin Rhythm Airplay for eight weeks starting the October 29, 2022-dated survey.

Further, Yng Lvcas and Pluma are only the third and fourth acts to capture a first leader on the chart in 2023, following Maldy and Baby Rasta’s prior victories through “Gatubela” with Karol G, and “Punto 40” with Rauw Alejandro on the January 7 and January 28-dated lists, respectively.

Elsewhere, “La Bebe” pushes up the overall Latin Airplay tally, to its No. 3 high.

Bizarrap Announces Rauw Alejandro-Collaboration, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 56,” Due This Week

Bizarrap is back with another all-star collaboration…

The 24-year-old Argentine DJ and record producer has partnered with Rauw Alejandro on his latest collaboration, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 56,” due out this week.

“What a joy it gives me to finally release music together my brother,” Biza expressed on his Instagram stories, tied to a short video announcement where Biza is seen surprising a select group of fans who are listening to the track for the first time in a booth in Madrid, Spain.

“Rauw Alejandro: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 56″—filmed in Biza’s blue-hued recording studio—is a catchy techno track where the Puerto Rican artist sings about two people who are single and desire each other.

“I’m alone and you’re alone / you want to taste me and I want to eat you all,” he chants in the sensual chorus. At the end of the track, the artists hint that a second collaborative effort is dropping this week.

“Rauw Alejandro x Bizarrap, ‘Baby Hello,’” reads the text with the June 23 date.

The new session comes on the heels of Biza and Peso’s heartbreak corrido that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart dated June 17 and No. 5 on the Hot Latin Songs chart that same week.

Earlier this year, Biza earned his first No. 1 hit with the Shakira-assisted “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” a powerful EDM track where the Colombian artist didn’t hold back and is as blunt as ever about her ex, Spanish soccer star Gerard Piqué.

The dis track also peaked at  No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rauw now joins a star-studded roster of artists who have dropped Bzrp Music Sessions including Arcángel, Nicky Jam, Residente, Nicki Nicole, Nathy Peluso, and Anuel AA, to name a few.

Peso Pluma to Drop New Album “Genesis” in Late June

Peso Pluma is returning with new music this month…

The 24-year-old Mexican singer/songwriter will drop his new album, Genesis, on June 22, the Regional Mexican star has announced.

Peso PlumaThe “Por Las Noches” singer also unveiled the set’s star-studded tracklist with songs featuring some of his go-to collaborators such as Natanael Cano, Junior H, Luis R Conriquez and Jasiel Nuñez.

While it’s not his debut album — the Guadalajara-born artist released Ah Y Qué? in 2020 and a year later Efectos Secundarios — it feels like a momentous LP given the winning streak that has catapulted him to the top of the charts in the last few months.

Rapidly becoming a household name in the U.S. and beyond, Peso has now become the first artist to dominate both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global 200 Excl. U.S. simultaneously with two different songs: The blockbuster hit “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado and his unprecedented “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55” with Bizarrap, which dropped in May.

The album announcement comes weeks after his collab with Argentine producer Bizarrap who, thanks to Peso, experiments with regional Mexican music for the first time for one of his music sessions.

The song scored the Mexican singer his ninth top 10 song on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. Elsewhere, “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 55” makes its No. 31 debut on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 ranking dated June 17.

Peso Pluma is currently on his first-ever U.S. tour. The Live Nation-produced stint kicked off in April and will make stops in Nashville, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Bizarrap Named to Time Magazine’s 2023 Next Generation Leaders List

Bizarrap is leading the next generation through his music…

The 24-year-old Argentine DJ, producer and hitmaker has been named to Time magazine’s 2023 “Next Generation Leaders” list this week, which spotlights 10 global trendsetters and trailblazers.

Bizarrap, Bizarrap can usually be spotted in the background of his videos, back to the camera, shades obscuring his eyes, giving the floor—or, more accurately, the mic—to the artists he invites on the mega-popular YouTube music video series he started four years ago.

In an article titled “Viral Hitmaker Bizarrap Wants His Music to Speak for Itself,” Bizarrap—known for his fiery “BZRP Music Sessions” with Shakira, Nicky Jam, Quevedo and Nathy Peluso, to name a few—opened up to about the importance of people getting to know his music.

“I make music every day,” he told TIME. “I like thinking about ideas for my videos, making teasers. I’m always thinking about the next step.”

His numbers are impressive: 7.2 billion views on YouTube, 41.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Several of his videos and songs have hundreds of millions of views and streams. And Bizarrap, real name Gonzalo Julián Conde, has done it all without releasing an album.

 

But Bizarrap isn’t the only Latinx artist to be named to the list…

Rene Silva, a Brazilian journalist, is highlighted for launching his own newspaper covering the entire favela, as Brazil’s informal ­neighborhoods are known, at the age of 11.In 2005,

Silva persuaded teachers at his school in the Complexo de Alemão district to let him join the student newspaper—despite protests from older kids who thought he was too young. Within months he outgrew that gig, recruiting four other children to help him launch his own newspaper.

“I used to look through papers and I didn’t see the favela I knew represented,” he says. “The media only ever talked about drug trafficking, violence, death—so people from outside thought that’s all there is here.”

Eighteen years later, Voz  das Comunidades continues to chip away at those stereotypes. Now formally recognized as an NGO, it has 35 staff members who cover stories on culture, politics, sports, education, and problems of state neglect.

Bad Bunny Earns Second No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. Charts with Grupo Frontera-Collab “Un x100to”

Bad Bunny is back atop the global charts…

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican superstar’s Grupo Frontera-collaboration “Un x100to” rises to No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts dated May 6.

The track is the second Global 200 No. 1 and first Global Excl. U.S. leader for the Regional Mexican genre — as it dethrones the first such No. 1 on the former chart: Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola” jumped to the top of the Global 200 a week earlier.

Meanwhile, thanks to “Un x100to,” “Ella Baila Sola” and Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma’s “La Bebe,” Regional Mexican (and Spanish-language) songs rank at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 simultaneously on both charts for the first time since the surveys began in September 2020.

Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny’s “Un x100to” leaps from No. 5 to No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 110.2 million streams (up 64%) and 4,000 sold (down 13%) worldwide April 21-27.

Bad Bunny adds his second, after “Dákiti,” with Jhay Cortez (now Jhayco), led for three weeks in November-December 2020.

It’s also the fifth all-Spanish-language leader on the list, after “Ella Baila Sola”; Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG,” which ruled for a week upon its debut in March; Bizarrap and Quevedo’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” (four weeks, 2022); and “Dakiti.”

“Ella Baila Sola” drops to No. 2 on the Global 100, although up 9% to 104.2 million streams and 5% to 3,000 sold worldwide.

It’s additionally the sixth all-Spanish-language leader on the ranking, after Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG,” which reigned for a week upon its debut in March; Bizarrap and Quevedo’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” (six weeks, 2022); Anitta’s “Envolver” (one, 2022); “Dakiti”; and Maluma and The Weeknd’s “Hawái” (one, 2020).

As on the Global 200, thanks to “Un x100to,” “Ella Baila Sola” and “La Bebe,” Regional Mexican, and Spanish-language, songs rank at Nos. 1-3 simultaneously for the first time since the Global Excl. U.S. chart originated.

Peso Pluma & Eslabon Armado Make History as “Ella Bala Sola” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard Global 200 Chart

The 23-year-old Mexican singer’s collaboration with Eslabon Armado “Ella Baila Sola” has surged to No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 chart dated April 29.

Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola” ascends 3-1 to crown the Billboard Global 200, with 95.2 million streams (up 27%) and 3,000 sold (up 74%) worldwide April 14-20.

It’s also the fourth all-Spanish-language leader on the list, following Karol G and Shakira’s “TQG,” which ruled for a week upon its debut in March; Bizarrap and Quevedo’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” (four weeks, 2022); and “Dákiti” by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez (now Jhayco; three, 2020).

“We didn’t expect for the song to make so much noise!” Pedro Tovar, Eslabon Armado lead singer and sole author of “Ella Baila Sola,” recently told Billboard of the track, which concurrently becomes the first regional Mexican top five hit ever on the Billboard Hot 100. “I really liked the song when I first wrote it, but I didn’t really expect it to be such a big hit. I previewed it on my stories on Instagram and, two days after, it went viral on TikTok, and that’s when I knew that the song was going to do big numbers.”

“Normally I don’t expect to chart with songs,” Peso Pluma marveled. “We just enjoyed the process of doing it.”

Meanwhile, marking more moves for Regional Mexican, Grupo Frontera and Bad Bunny’s “Un x100to” launches in the top five on the tally.

“Un x100to” blasts onto the Global 200 at No. 5 with 67.4 million streams and 4,000 sold worldwide in its first week. Regional Mexican sextet Grupo Frontera, from Texas, achieves its first top 10 on the chart, while Bad Bunny adds his 13th.

The Billboard Global 200 survey ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data, including the United States.

Arcángel Announces 14-Date “Just In Time Tour” of North America

Arcángel is making time for his fans…

The 37-year-old Dominican American Latin trap star will hit the road this summer for his Just In Time Tour.

Arcángel The 14-date stint, produced by Live Nation, will kick off on August 26 at the Allstate Arena in the Chicago area, making stops across the U.S. in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and more before wrapping up in Orlando at Amway Center on October 1. 

The cross-country tour is preceded by a new album Sr. Santos, which he released late last year, and seven back-to-back nights at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in February, a hard-hitting collaboration with Bizarrap (“BZRP Music Sessions #54”) that he unleashed in March and has nearly 50 million views on YouTube (so far).

Sr. Santos scored Arcangel his sixth top 10 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart when it debuted at No. 3 in December. The set, which includes collaborations with Bad Bunny, Young Miko and Myke Towers, among others, is a tribute to his late brother Justin Santos who died at 21-years-old in 2021.

“Life surprised us with the death of [my brother] so we canceled everything,” Arcángel previously told Billboard Español. “I built up courage and said, ‘since he loved these songs so much, let’s finish it and make and album that will be dedicated to him.’”

In 2021, Arcángel released Los Favoritos 2.5 — a follow up to Los Favoritos 2 from 2020 — which peaked at No. 15 on the Top Latin Albums chart and No. 11 on the Latin Rhythm Albums.

Tickets for his Just In Time Tour will go on sale April 13 at 10:00 a.m.

Eladio Carrión Launching First Sauce Boyz Fest in Puerto Rico

Eladio Carrión is bringing the sauce to Puerto Rico…

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer of Latin trap and reggaeton will launch the first Sauce Boyz Fest , which he conceived.

Eladio Carrión The event, which promises to be historic, will host some of the most exhilarating acts in the música urbana and rap game. 

Headliners include Argentine giants Bizarrap and Duki, rap superstar Wiz Khalifa, Dominican dembow artist Tokischa, and rising stars like Young Miko, Dei V, Yovngchimi and more, with an expected attendance of 45,000 total.

The event sold out weeks before the lineup was even announced.

“We really want [fest-goers] to have the best experience of their life. Musically it’s going to be crazy. I’ve been dying to just announce this lineup,” Carrión tells Billboard Español. Taking place May 18 and 20 in Mayagüez and San Juan, the Puerto Rican festival is the first of its kind, being held at a beer factory on day one and by the beach on day two.

At the same time, Carrión will launch his own beer line, La H.

Fuerza Regida & Grupo Frontera Earn First No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Bebe Dame”

Fuerza Regida continues dominating the charts…

The Regional Mexican group’s Grupo Frontera-collab “Bebe Dame” expands its chart-topping domination as the two groups’ second collab ascends from the runner-up slot to lead Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart dated March 25.

Strong airplay across Latin radio stations fuels “Bebe Dame” to No. 1 in its eighth week after it registered 11.5 million in audience impressions, up 14%, in the U.S. in the week ending March 16, according to Luminate.

In addition to its leadership across Hot Latin Songs (two weeks; Jan. 21 and March 4) and Regional Mexican Airplay, where it holds for a second week at the penthouse, “Bebe Dame” now rules the all-genre Latin Airplay ranking, a first champ for both Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera.

While Fuerza Regida reached a No. 14 high with “Se Acabó,” with Lenin Ramirez and Banda Renovación, last December, Grupo Frontera captures its third top 10 among four career entries. Previously, the five-member ensemble secured a No. 4 high through “Que Vuelvas.”

“Bebe Dame’s” new achievement also secures a first chart topper for labels Street Mob and BorderKid. It’s the third instance of an indie label sending a song to No. 1 on Latin Airplay in 2023, after Rimas Music through Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro’s “Party” (Feb. 11-dated list) and DALE Play with “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” (four weeks between Feb. and March).

Elsewhere, “Bebe Dame” dips 2-3 on the multimetric Hot Latin Songs chart with declines in both streaming activity and digital sales. The song logged 10.1 million U.S. clicks, a 6% drop from the prior week, and sold a little less than 1,000 downloads, a 4% decrease, dropping 2-4 on Latin Digital Song Sales.

Further, on the overall Billboard Hot 100 chart, “Bebe Dame” rallies 64-47, after it peaked at No. 25 in chart dated Jan. 28.

Bad Bunny Leads Pack of Latin American Music Awards Nominees with 11 Nods

Bad Bunny is the artist to beat at this year’s Latin American Music Awards.

The nominations for the 2023 Latin AMAs have been revealed, with the 29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer leading the pack with 11 nominations, including artist of the year, song of the year and album of the year.

Bad BunnyBad Bunny is still riding high off his Billboard 200 chart-topping album Un Verano Sin Ti and hit single “Me porto bonito.”

Bad Bunny is followed by Becky G and Daddy Yankee, each with nine nominations; and with eight nods each are Grupo Frontera, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos and Rosalía, to name a few.

Additionally, Bizarrap, Blessd, Edén Muñoz, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia are nominated in the best new artist category.

TelevisaUnivision also revealed that Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar will be recognized as 2023 Latin AMAs Legacy honorees.

Co-hosted by Galilea Montijo and Julián Gil, the eighth edition of the Latin AMAs will take place on Thursday, April 20, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, and for the first time — since its debut on October 8, 2015, on Telemundo — the ceremony will be broadcast live simultaneously on Univision, UNIMÁS and Galavisión (starting at 7:00 pm ET), after TelevisaUnivision acquired the rights from dick clark productions last September.

This year’s nominations are based on streaming, sales, radio airplay, tours and even social media interactions data provided by Billboard and Luminate during the eligibility period (February 12, 2022, through February 4, 2023).
