Genesis Rodriguez in Negotiations to Star in Third Season of “The Night Agent”

Genesis Rodriguez is making night moves…

The 37-year-old Cuban-Venezuelan actress has entered negotiations for a role in the third season of the hit conspiracy thriller The Night Agent.

Genesis Rodriguez,While specifics as to Rodriguez’s part are being kep under wraps, Deadline reports that Rodriguez will be a series regular.

Production on the third season is set to kick off in Istanbul at the end of this year, with a New York shoot to follow in 2025. Netflix announced the show’s Season 3 renewal in October.

An adaptation of Matthew Quirk’s New York Times bestseller, the first season of which ranks #7 on Netflix’s Most Popular TV chart, The Night Agent sees the FBI’s Peter Sutherland (Basso) manning a phone in the basement of the White House that never rings — until the night that it does, propelling him into a fast moving and dangerous conspiracy that leads all the way to the Oval Office.

In past interviews, creator, showrunner and EP Shawn Ryan has spoken to the fact that each season of the show will be a self-contained story, opening the door to new plot lines and characters with each go-round. Season 1 was set in and around Washington D.C. and filmed in Vancouver, with the second 10-episode season primarily shooting in New York City, with additional filming in Thailand and Washington, D.C. 

The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

In Season 2, Basso is joined by returning Season 1 cast member Luciane Buchanan, as well as newcomers like Amanda Warren, Berto Colon, Louis Herthum, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, and Teddy Sears.

Currently in the midst of a breakout moment with the sophomore season of Lioness, Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller for Paramount+, Rodriguez plays Captain Josephina Carillo aka this season’s female undercover operative, or “Lioness.” Airing weekly, the show has her going toe to toe with Zoe Saldaña, Morgan Freeman and Nicole Kidman.

Getting her start on NBC Universal/Telemundo’s Prisonera, Dame Chocolate and Dona Barbara, the Miami-born actress has also been seen in Netflix’s series The Umbrella Academy and Neon, as well as Kevin Smith’s The 4:30 Movie.

Roselyn Sanchez Starring Opposite Wanda Sykes in Boxing Drama “Undercard”

Roselyn Sanchez is hitting the ring in her native Puerto Rico.

The 51-year-old Puerto Rican actress and singer-songwriter is starring in the boxing mother-and-son drama Undercard, which has begun principal photography in Puerto Rico for Catalyst Studios.

Roselyn SanchezIn her first big dramatic film role, the film stars Wanda Sykes as Cheryl “No Mercy” Stewart, a two-time former boxing champion and recovering alcoholic.

The film follows her attempts to reconnect with 20-year-old son Keith, a talented but troubled young man, played by rising star Bentley Green, who has followed his mother’s footsteps into the boxing ring.

When Keith finds himself alone in his corner, because of his gambling-addicted trainer, he is forced to turn to his mother. Determined to right past wrongs, she embarks on a mission to train her son for glory in a World Championship title fight.

In addition to Sanchez, Sykes and Green, the film also stars William Stanford Davis, Xavier Mills, Estella Kahiha and Berto Colon.

Undercard is directed by Tamika Miller and co-written by Miller and Anita M. Cal.

The film is billed as following in the tradition of Raging Bull, Million Dollar Baby and Creed, but with the story told  through the eyes of the trainer.

“It is about the struggle and survival of the human spirit. Getting up when life does its best to knock you down. This powerful, moving story is a metaphor for our own challenges. And it shows Wanda like we have never seen her before,” said Catalyst Studios Chairperson Holly Anderson Levow.

Berto Colon Upped to Series Regular on Starz’s “Power Book II: Ghost”

The 48-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been upped as a series regular for the sophomore season of Starz’s flagship drama series Power Book II: Ghost.

He will continue on the show as Lorenzo Tejada.

Power Book II: Ghost’s first season picks up shortly after the events of Power as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with a new world order: his father dead and his mother, Tasha, facing charges for the murder her son committed. With no better options, Tariq turns to the familiar drug game, entangling himself with a cutthroat family headed by Monet Stewart Tejada, that’s been at it far longer than him. As Tariq tries to balance his drug operation with his grades, love life, and family, he figures out that the only way to avoid the same fate his father met is to become him — only better.
