Daniel Brühl’s “Rush” to Open in LA and NYC on September 20

Daniel Brühl’s latest project will be rushing into theaters in Los Angeles and New York a week earlier than planned.

After pushing the release of Ron Howard‘s Formula One racing drama back to September 27, Universal Pictures has now decided to open Rush, starring the 35-year-old half-Spanish actor, a week earlier in Los Angeles and New York exclusively.

The film centers on the rivalry between 1970s Formula One drivers James Hunt (portrayed by Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Brühl).

Rush will get its limited release against the Warner Bros. action film Prisoners and Sony Pictures’ drama Battle of the Year.

The film will have its North American premiere with a Gala Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The 44-year-old Mexican American director’s Machete Kills, the sequel to Machete and the second in a planned trilogy, will be released on September 13, 2013.

Kyle Ward penned the screenplay for the sequel, which is based on a story by Marcel Rodriguez and Robert Rodriguez.
