Banda Los Sebastianes Earns Third No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart with “En Eso No Quedamos”

Make that two in a row for Banda Los Sebastianes

The Mexican band has earned their third No. 1, and second in a row, on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “En Eso No Quedamos” rises 2-1 on the survey dated July 4.

Banda Los Sebastianes

“En Eso No Quedamos” follows the six-week reign of the group’s “Mi Meta Contigo” in November.

Banda Los Sebastianesfirst led the Regional Mexican Airplay chart for six weeks with its longest-charting title “A Través del Vaso” (39 weeks on the chart) in February 16, 2019, over three years after the band’s first entry on the chart, “Indeleble” (No. 39, Sept. 2015).

“En Eso No Quedamos” rules the roost with a 13% boost in audience impressions (to 6.2 million) earned in the week ending June 28, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

With a 19-week climb to No. 1, “En Eso No Quedamos” ties for slowest rise to No. 1 on the list in 2020. Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga also took a 19-week journey to the top with “No Elegí Conocerte” on the February 15-dated list. (

Concurrently, the new song lifts 13-12 on the overall Latin Airplay chart.

“En Eso No Quedamos” is the second single off Banda Los Sebastianes’ 2018 album En Vida, which launched in the top 20 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart.

Banda MS Teams Up with Snoop Dogg for Epic Single “Que Maldición”

Banda MS has let the Dogg out…

The Mexican musical group, whose full name is Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga, has joined voices with the one and only Snoop Dogg for the Mexican-folk-meets-G-funk single “Que Maldición.”

Banda MS & Snoop Dogg

The highly anticipated collaboration has been on the radar ever since the West Coast icon posted a Banda MS song on his Instagramback in 2016.

The historical collaboration between the two powerhouses in their respective genres celebrates the union of two cultures. The melancholic song organically fuses banda with hip-hop, an unorthodox combination that works for the two.

The Banda MS/Snoop collaboration was proposed by Sergio Lizárraga, founder of Banda MS, who sent the song to Snoop’s team and “they loved it,” Lizárraga says. “They said, ‘Don’t change anything and we’ll work our magic.’ In less than a month, his team sent the song back with his part recorded, and the end result is excellent.”

“Que Maldición” was written by Pavel OcampoCalvin Broadus and Omar Tarazón

Banda MS and Snoop Dogg had previously announced a joint summer concert prior to the coronavirus pandemic. No word on whether the concert will still move forward.

Banda Sinaloense MS Earns 10th No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs Chart

It’s a perfect 10 for Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga

The Mexican banda leads Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs airplay chart for a 10th time, as their new single “Mejor Me Alejo” jumps 4-1 on the chart dated October 6.

Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga

The song ascends to the summit due to a 30 percent lift in audience (8.3 million) in the week ending September 30, according to Nielsen Music.

The lead single from Con Todas Las Fuerzas, written by Espinoza Paz, is the band’s 10th No. 1, dating back to 2014’s “Hermosa Experiencia,” which topped the list for six weeks.

“Mejor Me ALejo” likewise ascends on the overall Latin Airplay chart, zooming up the tally 17-9 and securing the band’s 13th top 10.

Banda Sinaloense MS’s “Con Todas Las Fuerzas” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Albums Chart

It’s a lucky No. 13 for Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga

The Mexican band debuts at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Regional Mexican Albums chart dated September 29 with its 13th album, Con Todas Las Fuerzas.

Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizárraga

The set earned 4,000 equivalent album units in the week ending September 20, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 1,000 were in traditional album sales, while the bulk of the remaining figure was driven by streaming activity.

Banda MSearns its fourth leader. It last crowned the tally over a year ago, when La Mejor Versión de Mi debuted at the summit, ruling for two weeks (May 6-13, 2017).

The new album’s lead single, “Mejor Me Alejo,” rises 6-4 on the Regional Mexican Songs airplay chart (up 7 percent in audience), earning the group its 15th top five hit.

Notably, the group currently has five entries on the current Regional Mexican Albums chart, four of which hit No. 1, tying its career-best count. (Joan Sebastian holds the record with seven concurrent titles on September 5, 2015.)

Current Rank, Title, Peak Date, Weeks at No. 1

No. 1, Con Todas Las Fuerzas, Sept. 29, 2018, one to-date
No. 3, La Mejor Versión de Mi, May 6, 2017, two
No. 4, Que Bendición, Feb. 27, 2016, four
No. 8, En Vivo: Guadalajara – Monterrey, Sept. 19, 2015, 15
No. 18, Solo Hits: 20 Éxitos, Aug. 11, 2018 (No. 13 peak)

Moreover, Con Todas debuts at No. 5 on the Top Latin Albums chart, where it’s Banda MS’ sixth top 10.

Christian Nodal Earns Third Top 10 Hit on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs Chart

The third time’s the charm for Christian Nodal

The 18-year-old Mexican mariachi singer-songwriter’s earns his third top 10 hit on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs airplay chart, as “Me Dejé Llevar” rises 13-8.

Christian Nodal

The strack earned 5.2 million in audience (up 30 percent) in the week ending December 17 according to Nielsen Music.

Nodal’s latest top 10 follows two previous leaders, both in 2017: “Probablemente,” featuring David Bisbal (No. 1 for four weeks) and “Adios Amor” (No. 1 for seven weeks).

All three tracks are from Nodal’s debut studio album, Me Dejé Llevar, which returns to No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart for a 12th nonconsecutive week (up 3-1).

The set earned 3,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 14 (up 4 percent). The album debuted atop the list dated September 16, and has spent more weeks at No. 1 in 2017 than any other album. (Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga’s En Vivo: Guadalajara — Monterrey has scored eight weeks in 2017, of its 15 total weeks atop the list. (En Vivo debuted at No. 1 in 2015, and has notched additional weeks at No. 1 in both 2016 and 2017.)

Nicky Jam Wins Big with Six Awards at the Billboard Latin Music Awards

It’s a jammin’ year for Nicky Jam

The 36-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American reggaeton star, who rose to stardom after a decade of silence battling drug addiction, turned out to be the big winner at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, taking home six awards.

Nicky Jam

Nicky Jam, who claimed his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart earlier this year with Fenix, his first set in a decade, lived up to the album’s name. He was named Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Male and Latin Rhythm Songs Artist of the Year, Solo.

His hit song “Hasta el amanecer” won Hot Latin Song of the Year — an award that includes radio airplay, sales and streams, underscoring Nicky Jam’s popularity across all platforms. “Hasta el amanecer” also won Digital Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year and Latin Rhythm Song of the Year.

Following in wins was the late Juan Gabriel, who won the coveted Artist of the Year award, as well as Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Male and Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Solo. Gabriel’s album Los Dúo 2 won Top Latin Album of the Year as the top-selling release and Latin Pop Album of the Year.

Enrique Iglesias took home four awards, including Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year, Solo. Iglesias and reggaeton star Wisin both won three awards for their hit collaboration “Duele el corazón”: Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event; Airplay Song of the Year; and Latin Pop Song of the Year.

Also winning three awards each were Banda Sinaloense MS De Sergio Lizarraga, CNCO, Gente de Zona and Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho. CNCO — a bilingual/bicultural pop group spawned from a TV reality show — were the winners in the coveted Artist of the Year, New category. The group, mentored by Ricky Martin and produced by Wisin, is currently playing its first major tour.

Special awards of the evening went to Ricardo Arjona, the iconic Guatemalan singer/songwriter, who was given the lifetime achievement award for a career that continues to be one of the most successful in Latin music. Luis Fonsi won the Spirit of Hope Award for his work with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Jennifer Lopez, who also won social artist of the year, was given the Telemundo Star Award.

Shakira & Nicky Jam Top List of Billboard Latin Music Awards Finalists

Shakira and Nicky Jam are all tied up…

The 40-year-old Colombian superstar and the 35-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer-songwriter top the list of finalists for the 2017 Billboard Latin Music Awards with each earning nine nominations.

Shakira & Nicky Jam

Shakira didn’t release an album in 2016. She competes in the social artist of the year category, while “La bicicleta,” her collaboration with Carlos Vives, is up for hot Latin song of the year, hot Latin song of the year, vocal event, and digital song of the year, among others.

In turn, Vives’ six entries are likewise largely driven by “La bicicleta.” Shakira is also up for an award with Chantaje,” featuring Maluma, which competes against herself in the hot Latin song of the year, vocal event category.

Nicky Jam is a finalist largely due to his chart-topping song “Hasta el amanecer,” up for hot Latin song of the year, airplay song of the year, digital song of the year, streaming song of the year and Latin rhythm song of the year. The rapper, whose longtime game plan is to only release one lead single a year — though let’s see if that changes in 2017 — is also a finalist for Latin pop song of the year for “Ya me enteré,” his collaboration with Mexican pop group Reik. Nicky Jam is also up for artist of the year.

They are followed in number of entries by superstar Enrique Iglesias and regional Mexican bands Los Plebes del Rancho de Ariel Camacho and Banda Sinaloense MS De Sergio Lizarraga, with eight entires each; Maluma, Juan Gabriel and J Balvin with seven each; and Wisin joins Carlos Vives with six each.

The awards will air live on April 27 on Telemundo, capping the Billboard Latin Music Conference that takes place April 24-27 at the Ritz Carlton in Miami Beach.

Gabriel Notches Fifth Chart-Topper on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

Make that five chart-toppers for Juan Gabriel

The 66-year-old Mexican singer has reached the summit on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart for a fifth time on the chart dated September 3, as Vestido de Etiqueta: Por Eduardo Magallanes, debuts with 1,000 copies sold in the week ending August 18, according to Nielsen Music.

The chart-topper continues Gabriel’s hot streak on the Top Latin Albums chart, where he’s notched four No. 1s in the last 18 months — more leaders than any other artist in that span of time.

It’s actually double the next-largest total in that span.

Four acts each earned two No. 1s in the last year-and-a-half: Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga, Gloria Trevi, Julion Alvarez y Su Norteno Banda and La Maquinaria Nortena.

The new No. 1 follows two chart-topping duets sets, Los Duo 2 (No. 1 for seven weeks in 2016) and Los Duo (No. 1 for seven weeks in 2015), and a greatest-hits compilation Mis Numero 1… 40 Aniversario (No. 1 for one week in 2015).

Vestido consists of a selection of Gabriel’s hits re-recorded and re-arranged with a symphonic orchestra by composer and musical director Eduardo Magallanes. The longtime collaborator of Gabriel signed the superstar to RCA Victor in 1971.

La Banda MS Earns Its First No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums Chart

It’s a special first for Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga

The 16-member Mexican banda sinaloense, better known as La Banda MS, has earned its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart.

Their new album En Vivo: Guadalajara-Monterrey debuts with 2,000 copies sold.

The live set is the band’s ninth charting album, and follows No Me Pidas Perdon, which reached No. 2 (a 3,000 start, chart dated July 12, 2014).

Additionally, Banda Sinaloense spends a third week in the top 10 on the Hot Latin Songs chart with “Piensalo” (No. 6), growing two percent in streams (to 620,000).

Meanwhile, “Me Gusta Tu Vieja” enters Hot Latin Songs at No. 50, becoming the act’s fifth track to chart in 2015.
