HBO Begins Production of Season Two of Azul Guaita-Starring Original Series “Like Water For Chocolate”

HBO‘s original series Like Water For Chocolate, starring the 23-year-old Mexican Actress, has begun production on the second and final season.

HBO, Azul Guaita, Like Water For ChocolateBased on the Laura Esquivel novel of the same name, the series follows star-crossed lovers Tita (Guaita) and Pedro (Andres Baida), whose romance is thwarted by her family’s traditions, forcing Tita to navigate magic and flavors in the kitchen as she fights for love and embraces her destined path.

HBO reveals that Season 2 “will continue to tell the story of love and struggle, rich in traditional flavors, set during the Mexican Revolution.”

“This will be a season of change and growth for many of our characters, particularly Tita,” said executive producer Salma Hayek Pinault, founder of Ventanarosa Productions, which produces the project. “We are proud to partner with Max and Endemol again for this new season, which will be an intense journey, full of dramatic but also romantic, magical events. I can’t wait for the audience to experience how our story concludes.”

In addition to Guaita and Baida, the returning cast includes Irene Azuela as Mamá Elena; Ana Valeria Becerril as Rosaura, Tita’s sister and love rival; Andrea Chaparro as the brave Gertrudis, Tita’s half-sister; Ángeles Cruz as Nacha, the cook and Tita’s mentor; Francisco Angelini as Dr. Brown; Louis David Horné as the battle-hardened Juan Alejandrez; Mauricio García Lozano as Don Pedro Múzquiz; and Ari Brickman as Don Felipe Múzquiz.

Season 2 is directed by Julián de Tavira, with Ximena Amann serving as director of photography. Jerry Rodríguez serves as showrunner. Head writer is Silvia Ortega Vettoretti with script assistance from Check cinco. Production design by Antonio Muño – Hierro, costume design by Annaí Ramos, and makeup design by María Paz Robles.

The HBO Original series is a production of Ventanarosa Productions, José Tamez, and Siobhan Flynn serving as executive producers, along with Sharon Levy, Lisa Fahrenholt and Flavio Morales for Endemol Shine North America; and Alejandro Rincón, Clara Machado, and Jerry Rodríguez for EndemolShine Boomdog. The executive production of Warner Bros. Discovery is led by Mariano César, Vanessa Miranda, and Anouk Aarón.

Season 1 is available to stream via Max.

Paulina Gaitán Starring in Comedy Series “Put@s Redes Sociales” for Prime Video

The 30-year-old Mexican actress is starring in the comedy series Put@s Redes Sociales, from Eugenio Derbez and Ben Odell.

Jorge Ulloa directs the series, which explores human relationships in the era of likes.

Put@s Redes Sociales tells the story of Amanda (Gaitán), a decadent YouTuber of children’s content who has just turned 30, which makes her “over the hill” on the internet. She’s willing to do anything to stay relevant on social networks, from filtering her own nude photo to risking her life (or, at least pretending to). She does all this to dethrone the number-one influencer of the moment: Vicky Moo (Guaita), who also happens to be her younger sister.

The cast also includes Hernán Mendoza, Jesús Zavala, Melissa Hallivis, Beng Zeng Wong, Hugo Catalán, Nataly Valencia, Bárbara Torres, Paola Fernández, and Jorge Enrique Abello.

“With this series, we confirm our commitment to new, successful creators in the digital world, like Jorge Ulloa from Enchufe TV—who is endorsed by the experienced executive producer Eugenio Derbez—joining forces in a comedy about our tragic addiction to likes,” said Alonso Aguilar Castillo, head of Original content for Mexico at Prime Video. “In Put@s Redes Sociales, our audience will discover an insolent provocation between two generations who, not understanding each other, prefer to laugh at each other.”

The series is an Amazon Studios and 3pas Studios production, made by Visceral.

It was shot in Mexico City in Fall 2022 and will be released in 2023, with Derbez, Odell, and Javier Williams executive producing, from a script by Jorge Ulloa, Valencia, Cynthia Fernández Trejo, and Juan Diego Aguilar. Pablo Calasso serves as co-producer.

Azul Guaita Signs with AFA Prime Talent Media

Azul Guaita has new representation…

The 21-year-old Mexican actress has signed with AFA Prime Talent Media, a division of Kenan Thompson’s Artists for Artists company, for representation in all areas.

Azul GuaitaGuaita can currently be seen in Netflix’s Rebelde in the role of teen star Jana Gandía Cohen. Season 2 of the series, a sequel to the 2004 Mexican telenovela of the same name, was released in July.

Additionally, she stars in La Mujer del Diablo, an original series from TelevisaUnivision’s new streaming service Vix+, as Daniela Beltrán.

Guaita has also starred in several projects produced by the biggest production companies and studios in Latin America including Soltero con Hijas from TelevisaLa Negociadora from Claro Video, and Subete a mi Moto, an Amazon prime original series about the Latin boy band Menudo.

The actress has expanded her social media footprint in the Latin-American market thanks to the success of Rebelde. She currently boasts 1.4 million followers across multiple social platforms, which helped her close her first endorsement deal with Dolce & Gabbana as an ambassador this year.
