Anjelah Johnson-Reyes Nominated for Audie Award for Narrating Her Book “Who Do I Think I Am?”

The 2023 Audie Awards nominees have been revealed with the the 40-year-old half-Mexican American actress/comedian making the grade.

Anjelah JohnsonThe Audie Awards, which are presented by The Audio Publishers Association, recognize distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.

Johnson-Reyes is nominated in the Humor category for Who Do I Think I Am?, which she wrote and narrated for Hachette Audio.

Hugo Martínez’s Wake: The Hidden History of Women-Led Slave Revolts is nominated in the Audiobook of the Year category.

Raúl E. Esparza is nominated in the Autobiography/Memoir category for narrating Safe, Wanted, and Loved: A Family Memoir of Mental Illness, Heartbreak, and Hope.

There are 26 competitive categories, including two that are gendered – best female narrator and best male narrator. Winners will be revealed at the Audie Awards Gala on March 28.

The ceremony will be streamed from Chelsea PiersPier Sixty in New York City.

From the recently crowned EGOT recipient Viola Davis to Grammy winner Paul Simon to audiobook luminaries like Soneela Nankani and Edoardo Ballerini, we’re proud of these multi-hyphenates who are helping shape the medium. We look forward to celebrating all of them at the March 28 gala.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda Wins Audie Award for Best Male Narrator for “Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World”

It’s a special recitation honor for Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican talent is among the winners for the 2022 Audie Awards, which recognize work in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.

Lin-Manuel Miranda The Audio Publishers Association (APA) announced the winners in a virtual ceremony hosted by Kal Penn.

Miranda won for best male narrator for the production of Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World, which was written by Benjamin Alire Sáenz and published by Simon & Schuster Audio.    

Gloria Muñoz, Elena González, Rebeca Hernando, Carmen Mayordomo, Marta Poveda, Sol de la Barreda, Beatriz Melgares, Cristina Arias and Antonio Martínez Asensio won in the Spanish Language category for their narration of Federico García Lorca’s La casa de Bernarda Alba.

Tony Medina won alongside Jaime Lincoln Smith in the Young Readers category for I and I Bob Marley, which he wrote.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is in the running for an Audie

The 42-year-old Puerto Rican actor, singer-songwriter, playwright, and film director is among the finalists for the 2022 Audie Awards, which recognize work in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment.

Lin-Manuel MirandaMiranda is among the finalists for Best Male Narrator for his work on Benjamin Alire Sáenz’s Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World.

Abner Ramirez and his wife Amanda Sudano, who make up the group Johnnyswim, are nominated in the Faith-Based Fiction and Non-Fiction for narrating their book Home Sweet Road.

Latina talent Ines del Castillo is nominated in the Fiction category for her being part of the narration cast of Dawnie Walton’s The Final Revival of Opal & Nev.

Salvadoran American actor, writer, visual artist and performer Herbert Sigüenza is nominated in the History/Biograpgy category for his work on A Weekend with Pablo Picasso, which he wrote and performed for L.A. Theatre Works.

Oscar-nominated actress Marina De Tavira is among the Latinx nominees in the Spanish Language category.

The 48-year-old Mexican actress is nominated for narrarating Valeria Luiselli’s novel Desierto Sonoro.

Other nominees for this year’s awards include Foo FightersDave GrohlBarack ObamaOprah Winfrey, Cynthia Erivo, John LithgowJamie FoxxOutlander star Sam Heughan and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Winners will revealed on March 4 in 25 categories by the Audio Publishers Association at a ceremony hosted by Kal Penn and livestreamed on the group’s website.
