Bruno Mars’ Silk Sonic Single “Leave the Door Open” Returns to No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

“Leave the Door Open,” released on Aftermath/Atlantic Records, first reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 dated April 17 (five weeks ago). It returns to the top as it drew 17.8 million U.S. streams (down 4%) and sold 14,200 (up 38%, helped by its placement in the iTunes Store‘s 69¢ Pop Hits sale) in the week ending May 13, according to MRC Data. It also attracted 87 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 8%) in the week ending May 16.

The track adds a fifth week atop the Radio Songs chart, pushes 3-2 on Digital Song Sales and keeps at No. 10 on Streaming Songs.

Notably, the four-week absence from No. 1 on the Hot 100 for “Leave the Door Open” is the longest for a song since Post Malone‘s “Circles” waited four frames between its second and third weeks on top on the charts dated December 7, 2019, and January 11, 2020. The two tracks’ breaks between weeks at No. 1 mark the longest since Taylor Swift‘s “Shake It Off” reigned for two weeks and then spent eight frames at No. 2 (behind Meghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass“) before returning for two more weeks on top in September-November 2014.

The track concurrently leads Hot R&B Songs for an eighth week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a fourth frame; the latter two charts use the same methodology as the Hot 100.

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s latest single “Up” jumps from No. 4 to No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart on the list dated March 20.

“Up” rallies with a 16% surge in plays in the week ending March 14, according to MRC Data, to become the most-played track at the radio format’s monitored stations.

“Up,” released on Atlantic Records, flies to the chart summit in its sixth week on the list and marks the fastest ascent in just under a year, Drake’s “Toosie Slide” was the last leader to arrive at No. 1 quicker, with just five weeks before its coronation in May 2020.

Among female artists, Cardi B’s sprint clocks the speediest time since… well, herself, when “Finesse,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars, also needed six weeks to reach the top spot.

Cardi B isn’t just makin’ money moves… She’s also making history.

The 28-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s major-label debut single “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” has been certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Cardi B is the first female rapper to achieve a diamond single award, according to the RIAA, meaning “Bodak Yellow” has moved 10 million units. According to the RIAA, one equivalent song unit is equal to a single digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams. Cardi B reached the milestone on Monday, and her hit collaboration “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, is halfway there with its 5x multi-platinum status as of March 3, according to the RIAA website.

Cardi B posted a video explaining how her label Atlantic Records surprised her with the plaque at a restaurant after a long, exhausting day of rehearsal.

“I just want to say thank you guys so much because without you guys, it wouldn’t have happened,” she told the Bardi Gang. “It really made my day. And it really uplifted me.”

With its fourth week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Cardi B rewrites her longest career domination as a lead artist, as “WAP” surpasses the three-week reign of her debut No. 1 “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” in October 2017. She has also led with “I Like It,” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin (one week, July 2018), and as featured on Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You” (seven weeks, September-November 2018).

“WAP,” released on Atlantic Records, notches a fifth week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart with 41.5 million U.S. streams (down 14%) in the week ending September 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

On Digital Song Sales, which it led for two weeks, “WAP” drops 2-3 with 12,000 downloads sold (down 25%) in the same span. The collab climbs 27-21 on Radio Songs with 32.6 million airplay audience impressions (up 21%) in the week ending September 20.

“WAP” logs a sixth week at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, which use the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100.

“WAP,” released on Atlantic Records, notches a fourth week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart with 48.2 million U.S. streams (down 18%) in the week ending September 10, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

On the Digital Song Sales chart, which it led for two weeks, “WAP” rises 3-2 with 16,000 downloads sold (down 20%) in the same span. The collab ascends 32-27 on the Radio Songs chart with 27.3 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 11%) in the week ending September 13.

With its third week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Cardi B matches her longest career domination as a lead artist, as “WAP” ties the three-week reign of her debut No. 1 “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” in October 2017. Cardi B is urging you to get registered…

The 27-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar, who has never been afraid to get political, is encouraging everyone to get registered to vote.

In a video posted by her label, Atlantic Records, Cardi B keeps it simple:

“It’s Cardi B and let me tell y’all something, state deadlines are coming very quick so make sure y’all click the link in the bio so y’all can register to vote,” she says in the brief video supporting the non-partisan group HeadCount, a national non-profit organization that works with musicians to promote participation in democracy in the United States.

With less than 65 days left until the November 3 election, the push to register voters and make sure they have the necessary materials to vote by mail or to vote early in their states is ramping up.

Cardi B had previously voiced her support for Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders, interviewing him about his vision for the country and political views, before her dropped out of the race. She’s now thrown her support for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, who she also interviewed recently.

Cardi B, riding high on the chart-topping success of her Megan Thee Stallion collaboration “WAP,” recently got into a social media tussle with former Republican congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine, after Lorraine made an unflattering comparison between Cardi B and First Lady Melania Trump after the latter’s speech at last week’s Republican National Convention.

“America needs far more women like Melania Trump and far less like Cardi B,” tweeted the politician who failed in her bid to unseat Democratic Speaker of the House leader Nancy Pelosi, leading the superstar to fire back, “Didn’t she used to sell that Wap?”

The 27-year-old half-Dominican American rap superstar’s “WAP,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion, has notched a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

The track debuted at the summit a week earlier with record first-week streams.

“WAP,” which fended off a challenge from Drake‘s “Laugh Now Cry Later,” featuring Lil Durk, is the first song to spend its first two weeks on the chart at No. 1 since Ariana Grande‘s “7 Rings,” which tallied its first five weeks on the chart in the top spot (of eight total frames at No. 1), beginning on the February 2, 2019-dated tally.

Meanwhile, “WAP” is the first song among women to lead the Hot 100 for multiple weeks since Mariah Carey‘s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” reigned for three weeks in December-January. Before that, Lizzo‘s “Truth Hurts” totaled seven weeks at No. 1 last September-October.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap singer has joined voiced with superproducer Scott Storch and Tyga for the breezy poolside “Fuego Del Calor” music video.

Storch, who received his first credit as a lead artist for the reggaeton hip-hop single, casually smokes a cigar while the Ozuna and Tyga swap verses at sundown as things are just starting to heat up.

The trio’s summer forecast features Ozuna kicking off the track singing suave borderline raunchy Spanish lyrics like “Tú tiene’ algo que me hace delirar Yo no sé, el baile lo mezclo con el alcohol/ You have something that makes me delirious, the dancing I mix with alcohol.” Then, mid-song, Tyga comes in to take the Latin rhythms-influenced song to a whole other level.

“Fuego Del Calor” serves as a preview to Storch’s debut solo album due to arrive via Atlantic Records in the coming months.

Kehlani Earns Third Straight No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums Chart with “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t”

The 25-year-old part-Mexican American singer-songwriter has captured her third straight No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart as It Was Good Until It Wasn’t debuts at the summit on the list dated May 23.

The album arrives with 83,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending May 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, the highest one-week total of her career.

It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, released on Tsunami Mob/Atlantic/AG, follows a pair of previous chart-toppers: SweetSexySavage in 2017 and last year’s While We Wait, which both ruled for one week. 

Kehlani’s debut effort, You Should Be Here, debuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Top R&B Albums chart in 2015.

“I’m grateful, I can’t believe it,” Kehlani tells Billboard. “Imma [sic] celebrate by laying in bed and getting some much needed rest with my daughter.” 

It Was Good Until It Wasn’t marks her first album since the birth of her daughter, Adeya, in March 2019.

Beyond its R&B victory, It Was Good Until It Wasn’tconcurrently opens at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

Accompanying Kehlani’s Goodstart, nine of the album’s tracks debut on Hot R&B Songs, led by a No. 4 entrance for “Can I,” featuring Tory Lanez. The tune marks Kehlani’s highest debut on the chart and ties for her best peak with “Nights Like This,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign.

Ally Brooke Hernandez Debuts New Spanish Track “Vámonos” at Fusion Festival

Ally Brooke Hernandez is embracing her Spanish roots…

The 25-year-old Mexican American singer and former Fifth Harmony member has a new Latin-pop song called “Vámonos,” which she debuted live over the weekend at Fusion Festival in Liverpool, U.K.

“VAMANOS FUSION FEST!!!” the Fifth Harmony singer — now focusing on her solo career– wrote on Twitter, where she posted a short video from the fest.

The footage doesn’t show the entiresong, but you can hear the lyrics of the chorus: “Vámonos, vámonos, vámonos, pero a la cama, a la cama, a la cama, no.”

Her performance to the upbeat, Spanish-language track was dance-heavy, with several backup dancers included in the choreography.

“First show tomorrow…been working hard,” the singer said on Twitter the day before her set at Fusion Fest.

No word on whether “Vámonos” will be an official single, but Brooke did recently confirm she’s signed a solo recording deal with Latium Entertainment/Atlantic Records. Since Fifth Harmony’s hiatus, she’s contributed vocals to DJ Topic‘s “Perfect” and Lost Kings‘ “Look at Us Now.”

Hernandez shared one clip of “Vamonos,” while fans at the show supplied some more on social media.
