Amaury Nolasco to Star in the Thriller “Killing of a Nation”

Amaury Nolasco is ready to make the killing

The 53-year-old Puerto Rican actor and producer will star in the feature thriller Killing of a Nation, about political unrest and crime in Haiti.

Ameen plays Anderson Toussaint, a young American lobbyist for an investment fund in Haiti who becomes entangled in a web of corruption and power struggles after gaining access to President Jovenel Moise’s inner circle. The country’s political woes ultimately lead to the shocking assassination of Moïse and the country descends further into chaos.

Filming wrapped last month in Panama on the under-the-radar English-language project from director Carlos Bolado and writer Jimena Gallardo. Olga Segura is producing with Harold Sánchez.

Nolasco, who is currently appearing on Apple TV+’s Land of Women, previously starred in the film The Valet, South of Heaven and Edge of Fear.

Ricky Martin to Appear at CAA’s Seventh Annual Amplify Summit

CAA’s seventh annual Amplify summit, a day dedicated to convening artists, brands and leaders of color, has set its lineup of speakers and attendees, with the 52-year-old Puerto Rican superstar among the participants.

Martin appears on a roster that includes former First Lady of the United State Michelle Obama; Oscar and Emmy-winning actor, producer and director Regina King; and NBA Hall of Famer, activist and entrepreneur Dwyane Wade (who returns after sitting for a keynote conversation with his fellow NBA legend Chris Paul in 2023.

The invitation-only event kicks off on June 10th, in Ojai, Calif. and is organized by a diverse cross-section of CAA agents and executives to discuss ways to “accelerate transformational change in rooms of leadership and popular culture” via business opportunities, social justice initiatives and other various forms of collaboration.

Néstor Carbonell to Star in Netflix’s First Original Medical Procedural “Pulse”

The 56-year-old Cuban American actor will star in Netflix’s first original medical procedural Pulse.

The drama series hails from first-time creator Zoe Robyn and veteran Carlton Cuse.

Pulse follows the staff of Miami’s busiest Level 1 Trauma Center as they navigate medical emergencies centering on young ER doc Danny Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) who is unexpectedly promoted to Chief Resident amidst the fallout of her own provocative romantic relationship.

In addition to Fitzgerald, Justina Machado, Colin Woodell, Jack Bannon, Jessie T. Usher, Chelsea Muirhead, Daniela Nieves and Jessy Yates also star.

Carbonell will play Dr. Ruben Soriano, a respected and sometimes feared senior surgeon. His commitment and passion have led him to prioritize his job above all else and he’s as demanding of his residents as he is of himself.

Segura will play Gabriel Moreno, an ER nurse who is a highly competent team player — but not always easy to impress.

Santos will play Nia Washington, a confident and scrappy Miami-Dade County EMT from a large, close-knit family.

Rothe will play Cass Himmelstein, a charismatic and charming senior ER nurse who knows what she wants for her life, and has a plan to get it.

Del Puerto will play Luis Dominguez, the ER’s Charge Nurse. He is unflappable amidst the ER chaos without sacrificing his signature wit and is beloved among his staff. All are recurring roles.

Robyn and Cuse serve as showrunners and executive producers. Bradley Garner, Emma Forman and Michael Klick also executive produce. Kate Dennis will serve as director and executive producer on Episodes 1 and 2.

The project reunites Carbonell and Cuse who worked together on the hit ABC series Lost. Carbonell is currently a series regular on Apple’s The Morning Show, and is recurring on the FX series Shogun. He can also be seen in feature films Bandit and Clawfoot. Prior, he starred as ‘Sheriff Alex Romero’ opposite Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore in the hit A&E series, Bates Motel. He is most often recognized for his portrayal of ‘Richard Alpert’ in Lost.

Segura can most recently be seen recurring on CW’s Walker: Independence. He is best known for his series regular role in Scream, as well as a recurring arc on Grey’s Anatomy and the thriller 47 Meters Down opposite Mandy Moore.

Santos’ breakthrough role was on the eighth season of FX’s American Horror Story. Additional credits include Netflix’s True Story, alongside Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes, as well as Hulu’s biopic series, Mike, playing Mike Tyson’s wife, Kiki Spicer. She’s currently set to reprise her role of Coco in Season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown, as well as the upcoming romantic comedy for NetflixOur Little Secret. Her latest film, Half Baked 2, premiered on April 20.

Del Puerto is currently recurring on the Apple+ series For All Mankind as well as Killing It for Peacock. Previously, he starred in the HBO series Camping alongside Jennifer Garner, Juliette Lewis and David Tennant. On the film front, he played opposite Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman in Twentieth Century Fox’s Independence Day: Resurgence and the Universal Pictures feature Ride Along 2.

Pablo Larraín & His Brother’s Fabula Productions Renews First-Look Partnership with Freemantle

The 47-year-old Chilean filmmaker and Juan de Dios Larraín’s Fabula Productions has renewed its their first-look partnership with Freemantle.

Pablo & Juan de Dios LarraínThe agreement will reportedly result in the Larrain brothers working even more closely to develop a fresh slate of original dramas and films.

Under the accord, Fremantle’s international sales wing, FMI, will distribute the drama projects worldwide.

Global production and distribution company Fremantle and the Larraín’s Santiago, Chile-based banner Fabula struck their original first-look deal in 2019.

Under the accord, Fabula has produced prize-winning series La Jauría and Señorita 89 as well as the upcoming Midnight Family for Apple TV+, a 10-episode medical drama inspired by the award-winning documentary of the same name.

On the feature film front, Fabula and Fremantle have just wrapped production on Sebastián Lelio’s film musical The Wave, in partnership with Participant Media.

The drama tells the story of the mass university rallies that took place during Chile’s so-called “Feminist May” in 2018.

Further upcoming feature collaborations include Pablo Larraín’s upcoming bio-film Maria starring Angelina Jolie as Maria Callas, produced alongside Komplizen Film.

The partners said in a statement that the Fabula team would continue to work closely with Fremantle’s CEO, Global Drama, Christian Vesper and Seb Shorr, COO, Global Drama.

“Pablo and Juan encapsulate the bold and inventive filmmaking we proudly support at Fremantle and I am delighted that that our renewed deal means working even closer with them. Fabula is such an exciting company creating original, passionate film and drama titles, and we are thrilled to have them as our valued partners,” said Vesper.

Apple TV+ Releases Trailer for Second Season of Josh Segarra-Starrer “The Big Door Prize”

Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the second season of The Big Door Prize, the critically acclaimed and character-driven comedy starring the 37-year-old Puerto Rican actor.

From Emmy-winning creator David West Read, the 10-episode second season will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, April 24, with three episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through June 12, 2024.

Based on M.O. Walsh’s novel, season two of The Big Door Prize follows the residents of Deerfield as the Morpho machine readies them for the mysterious “next stage.” As everyone’s potentials are exchanged for visions, new relationships form and new questions are asked.

Dusty (Chris O’dowd) and Cass (Gabrielle Dennis) decide to take time apart while Trina (Djouliet Amara) and Jacob (Sammy Fourlas) learn that they can shed their old labels. Giorgio (Segarra) and Izzy (Crystal Fox) each find romance while Hana (Ally Maki) and Father Reuben (Damon Gupton) attempt to discover the purpose of the machine. The small town is once again left questioning what they thought they knew about their lives, relationships, potential and about the Morpho itself.

The Big Door Prize is produced by Skydance Television and CJ ENM/Studio Dragon.

Hemky Madera Signs with Stewart Talent

The 47-year-old Dominican American actor has signed with Stewart Talent for representation.

Madera is best known for his work as a series regular in USA Network’s Queen of the South across the drama’s five seasons. Madera worked closely alongside Alice Braga starring as her character Teresa Mendoza’s loyal right-hand man and ride-or-die, Pote Gálvez. The series is an adaptation of Telemundo’s hit telenovela La Reina del Sur starring Kate del Castillo as Teresa.

Most recently, Madera reunited with Queen of the South co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez on Season 2 of the hit Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer, which Rodriguez co-showruns and executive produces alongside Ted Humphries. Madera played Agent Felix Vasquez.

Eva Longoria to Appear on Season Four of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”

The 48-year-old Mexican American actress, who recently made her feature film directorial debut with Flamin’ Hot, has been cast in Hulu‘s Only Murders in the Building Season 4 in a recurring role.

However, new episodes will reportedly focus on unraveling the murder of Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch), Charles-Haden Savage’s (Steve Martin) mind-bogglingly identical stunt double from his years on the series Brazzos and its 2020 revival.

Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich revealed in a recent Deadline interview that the Only Murders In the Building trio: Charles, Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez), will kick off the new season with a trip to Los Angeles before returning to The Arconia in their search of Sazz’s killer.

Longoria’s character becomes integral to the twists and turns of this season’s investigation, sources close to production reveal.

She joins Molly Shannon, the first new cast member announced for Season 4, in the role of a high-powered LA businesswoman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in New York.

Meryl Streep recently set her Season 4 return reprising the role of Loretta Durkin.

In the Season 3 finale—following her highly praised performance in Oliver’s Broadway hit Death Rattle Dazzle— Loretta received two offers in productions that would require her to relocate to Los Angeles. Her new beau Oliver is into this idea as it would allow him to visit the City of Angels. Mabel’s new love interest Tobert (Jesse Williams) is also headed west, and surprisingly, she’s also keen on taking a little break from New York.

The Emmy-nominated comedy, produced by 20th Television, is co-created and co-written by Steve Martin and John Hoffman who also executive produce alongside Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal.

Longoria recently kicked off promotions for her new Apple TV+ series Land of Women in which she executive produces and stars opposite Carmen Maura. The six-episode dramedy series is inspired by Sandra Barneda’s best-selling novel of the same name and will be presented in both Spanish and English.

New Trailer for Apple TV+’s “Palm Royale” Showcases Ricky Martin’s Character

The 52-year-old Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and actor enters high society in the new trailer for the upcoming Apple TV+ series, Palm Royale.

Martin is set to play Robert in the comedy series that stars Kristen Wiig, Alison Janney, Laura Dern, Kaia Gerber, Bruce Dern and Carol Burnett, who will be making “extra special guest” appearances.

Loosely based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDanielPalm Royale marks Martin’s first television project since Ryan Murphy’s drama The Assassination of Gianni Versace on FX, in which he played Antonio D’Amico.

In the trailer, Martin is seen as a server at an exclusive club serving up martinis.

Later, he’s show swimming in a pool where he asks Wiig’s character, Maxine, who’s assimilating into the wealthy class, “Do you know anything about rich people?”

According to an official description of the television series, Palm Royale follows Maxine as she “attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots … ‘Palm Royale’ asks the same question that still baffles us today: ‘How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?’ Set during the powder keg year of 1969, ‘Palm Royale’ is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.”

The series is written, executive produced, and showrun by Abe Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia’s Moving Picture Company. The first three episodes of Palm Royale premiere March 20 on Apple TV+, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through May 8.
