Based on Richie’s AOL online series of the same name, the show details the former Fashion Star mentor’s daily adventures and gives insight into her decisions on style, relationships, work life and everything in between.

“‘Candidly Nicole’ has surpassed every goal that we set for the launch,” said Susan Levison, EVP of Original Programming and Production for VH1. “The series increased viewers in its time period by 50 percent, attracted thousands of new viewers to the channel and shared Nicole Richie’s sharp wit and comedic flair for highlighting some of the absurdities of the real world.”

Candidly Nicole increased its time period’s Live+3 ratings in the 18-49 demo by 50% compared to the same time period last year, according to VH1.

The network has given a straight-to-series order for Richie’s #CandidlyNicole for eight episodes, premiering on July 17.

Additionally, VH1 has signed a first look/development deal with Richie’s Honey Child Prods.

The reality series #CandidlyNicole, produced by Telepictures and World of Wonder, is based on Richie’s popular AOL online series of the same name, which in turn was based on Richie’s irreverent Twitter feed.

“Nicole’s sharp, acerbic sense of humor and broad audience appeal make #CandidlyNicole a perfect fit for the VH1 brand,” said Susan Levison, VH1’s EVP Original Programming & Development. “Viewers will enjoy her unique point of view and earnest look at pop culture as well as her fearless exploration of anything and everything taboo.”

#CandidlyNicole marks Richie’s first reality starring vehicle since Fox’s The Simple Life, the show that made her a household name.

According to VH1, it will “detail her daily adventures and give insight into her decisions on style, relationships, her work life and her journey to adulthood.”

Pitbull Inks Development Deal with Endemol North America

Pitbull is ready to branch out beyond music…

The 33-year-old Cuban American rap superstar, who will be performing the official World Cup song with Jennifer Lopez and Claudia Leitte, has agreed to an exclusive overall deal with Endemol North America to develop and produce original content for television and digital platforms.

The digital aspect of the “Timber” singer’s deal, which was announced at NATPE, also entails a Pitbull channel on the newly launched Endemol Beyond.

The latter, a new global venture, will look to create a premium network of international and local channels across platforms such as YouTube, Yahoo and AOL. As part of the pact, Pitbull and his manager, Latium Entertainment CEO Charles Chavez, will executive produce fare.

“The U.S. Hispanic consumer and gigantic global stars like Pitbull have been the underpinning for the major Latin music and cultural influences in the U.S. and around the world. By offering the support, global infrastructure and reach for television and digital that only Endemol can provide, we look forward to the output and to the multitude of possibilities that this collaboration will generate,” said Endemol N.A. co-CEO Cris Abrego.

Added fellow CEO Charlie Corwin, who has actively looked to beef up the company’s brand roster since taking the reins of the company months earlier: “Combining Pitbull’s already massive global presence with our Endemol Beyond digital dream team and our creative scripted and unscripted teams in a first of its kind deal will give us an opportunity to create ground-breaking content across all media.”

The news comes as Pitbull’s latest breakout, “Timber,” sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the third consecutive week. The musician-turned-entrepreneur’s career sales exceed 5 million albums and 50 million singles worldwide, and he boasts No. 1 hits in more than 15 countries.

The pact, announced Tuesday, will allow MiTu to syndicate its original and partner produced content to AOL’s digital properties – including The Huffington Post, streaming platform AOL On and Hispanic network Voces – in both English and Spanish.

“We believe that this relationship helps to better serve today’s exploding Hispanic audiences who have demonstrated a passionate appetite for MiTu’s English and Spanish language, culturally relevant video content,” said MiTu CEO Roy Burstin in a statement.

Since launching in 2012, MiTu has established a network of YouTube channels with more than 45 million global unique viewers and more than 200 million monthly video views.

The network, which has focused on lifestyle content, recently launched male pop culture channel Macho featuring sketch comedy project El Show with Chuey Martinez.

AOL has made a push to expand its content aimed at multicultural audiences, said Frank Besteiro, head of business development and partnerships for AOL Video, in a statement.

“We see this partnership as an excellent way to supplement our video catalogue with high-quality content across a range of topics for our growing Hispanic audience,” he added.
