Daddy Yankee Earns 80th Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with “Don Don,” Featuring Anuel AA & Kendo Kaponi

Daddy Yankee is pushing 80…

The 43-year-old Puerto Rican rap supserstar’s “Don Don,” featuring Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi has debutedat No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated September 26.

Daddy Yankee

The song earns Daddy Yankee his 80th entry on the list — and places him in a tie with Ozuna for the second-most entries since the tally’s inception in 1986. Bad Bunny continues at the helm with 96 total entries.

“Don Don” was released on September 11 via El Cartel and produced byMambo Kingz and DJ Luian. Hot Latin Songs blends airplay, digital sales and streaming data.

“Don Don” arrives in the top 10 powered by streaming activity. The three-generational Puerto Rican collaboration logged 4 million U.S. clicks in the week ending September 17, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, yielding to a No. 8 debut on the Latin Streaming Songs chart.

Sales also helped boost the song’s debut: 2,000 downloads sold in the week ending September 17 and entering at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales. With eight No. 1s on the tally Daddy Yankee ties with Ozuna for the third-most leaders, both trailing Shakira (11) and J Balvin (10).

While Kendo Kaponi secures his first Hot Latin Songs top 10, Anuel AA claims his 18th and Daddy Yankee stretches his third-most top 10s to 34.

With “Don Don”’s arrival, Daddy Yankee and Anuel each place two songs on the chart’s upper tier. The former remains at No. 2 for a second week with “Relación,” with Sech and J Balvin, featuring Rosalía and Farruko, while the latter places at No. 5 with “La Jeepeta,” with Nio García, Myke Towers, Brray and Juanka.

Daddy Yankee Releases “Don Don,” a Spanish Reimagining of Sisqo’s “Thong Song” Featuring Anuel AA & Kendo Kaponi

Daddy Yankee is putting a Spanish spin on another ‘90s classic…

The 43-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer has joined voices with Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi to release “Don Don,” their Spanish reggaeton take on Sisqo’s 1999 hit song “Thong Song.”

Daddy Yankee

In the reimagined song, Anuel AA sings the “Thong Song” melody during the chorus. It’s a nifty gimmick, but “Don Don” is more beguiling than its familiar hook: Daddy Yankee is a stick of dynamite on the track, his flow compact and rewarding. And make sure to keep your ears peeled for a nod to the Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, as well as Daddy Yankee’s intensity balancing out Anuel’s suave demeanor as they both invite listeners to the dance floor in their own way.

Daddy Yankee scored a hit last year with “Con Calma,” which revived Snow’s 1993 hit single “Informer” and featured the singer himself. And then he later released a remix version of the song featuring Katy Perry.  The song, which passed two billion views on YouTube, recently won the iHeartRadio Music Award for Latin Pop/Reggaeton Song of the Year.

Rauw Alejandro Releases “Elegi” Remix, Now Featuring Additional Vocals From Anuel AA, Farruko, Sech & Justin Quiles

Rauw Alejandro is expanding his choices

The 27-year-old Puerto Rican singer/rapper has released the remix for his single “Elegi,” and he’s recruited some big name help to make it pop.

Rauw Alejandro, Elegi, Elegi Remix, Anuel AA, Farruko, Sech, Justin Quiles,

Anuel AA, Farruko, Sech, and Justin Quiles appear on the remix, along with Dalex, Lenny Tavarez, and Dimelo Flow, who appeared on the original version of the song released in late March.

The core of the song’s lyrics centers on two people who have intense sexual chemistry, and who reconnect after having the “best night ever.”

Anuel AA, Farruko, Sech, and Quiles add a little extra spice and sensuality to the remix of the reggaeton track. This time around, Anuel AA kicks off the track and samples part of his 2018, Haze-assisted “Amanece.”

Directed by Gus, the music video shows the power team joined by a group of models.

Both Rauw and Sech are confirmed for Billboard‘s two-part On the Rise panels at the 2020 virtual Latin Music Week taking place from October 20th to 23rd.

The music video for the thumping new track takes place in and around a luxurious mansion that has a fountain out front featuring a bootylicious fountain.

“I just want to let y’all know, I wanna give y’all the heads up, the music video is going to be the censored version of the song, because the song is so nasty that YouTube was like, ‘Hold on, wait a minute, someone might be too Goddamn nasty,” Cardi B revealed on Instagram prior to the release, encouraging fans to listen to the full “nasty” version on streaming services.

The girl power-fueled video for “WAP” features cameos by the likes of Spanish singing sensation Rosalia, in full body red latex and a Spanish matador’s montera hat with the braids to match her hair color, Kylie Jenner and Normani to rising artists like SukihanaRubi Rose and Mulatto.

And y’all going to see it on the music video as well, from models to influencers and everything,” she told Zane Lowe in an Apple Music interview about the visual. “And I really wanted the video to be very sexy, very clean, very nice, very cut. All right, we need some female artists, rappers. And I’m like, ‘These are the girls that I personally like. That I like they music. That I really feel they are going to go mainstream, to me.’ All the girls right here, there’s different things that I like about them.”

“WAP” is Cardi B’s first music release of the year. It follows “South of the Border,” her collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Camila Cabello, released in July 2019; “Yes,” her collaboration with Fat Joe and Anuel AA, released in September 2019; and “Writing on the Wall,” her collaboration with French MontanaPost Malone and Rvssian, released in September 2019.
